favorite place, 80 Washington Street, Leominster, Mass. He died Oct. 26, 2005,
at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. His Spirit passed through the
door of heaven and was received into the hands of Our Lord, Jesus Christ. He is

proud Marine in World War II. He was an active volunteer in Oak Ridge and
Knoxville: Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, Boy Scouts, Contact, you name it,
he served them in many capacities. His last and most enjoyable volunteer work
was with the One Day Surgery at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He
cherished his volunteer friends, nurses, and doctors, in this and other
sections of the hospital.
He also was a very active member and dedicated worker at the Kern Memorial
United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge. He taught Sunday school and helped
whenever he was needed in any group of the church. He was untiring in his efforts to
serve his fellow man. He worked 37 and a half years at the Oak Ridge National
Laboratory in the Physics Division with another set of cherished friends. He
is survived by his beloved wife, Alice, who says he is "her pride and joy".
They enjoyed 20 years of trailer traveling, touring, cruising, and just lazing
around together. He was particularly caring for wildlife at home and around the
world. He leaves his favorite friend, his dog, Pepper. Surviving children are:
Rebecca and Eddie Collier, granddaughter Alisha, great-grandson, Austyn;
Buddy and Sharon Rogers, Debbie and Mike Henderlight, and grandson, Justin. Other
children are: Mike and Linda, Jorjan, Wade and Teresa Richardson and Beth
Beams. Grandchildren are: Chester, John, Kelley, Laurel, Josh, Jorja, Jack and
Matthew; and great-grandchildren, Jade, Alexus, and Anna. There will be a
memorial service, at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, at the Kern Memorial United
Methodist Church in Oak Ridge. Please, in lieu of flowers, give to Kern Church,
Mended Hearts, Inc. (Methodist Hospital), American Heart Association, or Skin and
Bone Donor organization. Thanks for remembering Rich in this way.
