LOST CREEK CEMETERY located in the Central Peninsula Wildlife Management
area of Union County. One of the oldest cemeteries in Union County (formerly
Campbell County). The first person buried here was a man who died while visiting
Henry Rice, a Revolutionary War soldier. There are hundreds of graves
marked with only field stones. Many were babies and some were entire families that
died with typhoid and are buried in a common grave.

Robert and Lewis are brothers. In the court records of Union County TN dated
4 Feb 1858 you will find a law suit filed by Phoebe Brock, the re-married
widow of Lewis, against all the brothers and sisters of Lewis. They are all
named. They are the children of Nelson Duke and Mary Longmire, except for the
oldest Charlotte, who is from Nelson's first marriage. She is married to Abbot
Smith. Nelson was born and married in Granville County NC. He is found in the
1830 census in Campbell Co TN, in 1840 in Anderson Co TN and then back to
Campbell in 1850. He is supposed to have died there in 1862. The court record
names nine brothers and sisters for Lewis. Per Evelyn Duke Brandenberger,
Nelson is the son of Britian Duke and the grandson of Samuel Duke. Hopes this
helps.
