ARTIS, MARGARET LEE BAILEY - 81 of Oak Ridge, passed away Saturday, September
17, 2005 at her home following an extended illness. She was born March 1,
1924 in Hawkins County, East Tennessee to Sam and Willie Bailey. Mrs. Artis was a
member of Oak Ridge Church of God. Mrs. Artis and her husband, Nelson came to
Oak Ridge in 1943. One of Margaret's first jobs was working as one of the
first women to serve as a riveter for the Airplane Corp of Michigan during WWII.
After coming to Oak Ridge she was employed at Hamilton Bank, Oak Ridge
Hospital in the insurance department, and Nettie Lee Dress Shop in Oak Ridge for many
years. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Sam and Willie Bailey. Her
mother passed away earlier this year at the age of 102. Mrs. Artis was also
preceded in death by: a sister, Ruth Hensley. Mrs. Artis is survived by: her
husband of 53 years, Nelson Artis; one son, Phillip Artis of Oak Ridge; two
sisters, Lois Britten of Clarksville, TN and Odell Short and her husband, Zed of
Abbington, Virginia; three brothers, Elwood Bailey and wife, Dot of
Surgoinsville, TN, Clinton Bailey and his wife, Emily of Abbington, Virginia, and Calvin
Bailey of Clarksville, TN; special friends include: Karen Clark of Kingston,
Nan Kingsley, Doris Thomas and Jane Anne Vann, all of Oak Ridge; and many nieces
and nephews. The family will receive friends Monday, September 19, 2005 at
Weatherford Mortuary from 6- 8:00 pm with the funeral services following at 8:00
pm with Rev. James Bandy officiating. The graveside service will be held
Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at 10:00 am at Anderson Memorial Gardens. Memorials
may be made to the donor's favorite charity. Weatherford Mortuary is handling

BULLOCK, DONALD MELVIN - 72 of Oak Ridge, passed away at his home on
September 17, 2005. He was born February 15, 1933 in Reading, Ohio to Coy and Leta
Bullock who preceded him in death. Mr. Bullock holds degrees from Kentucky
Christian University in Grayson, Kentucky, Maumee Valley School of Nursing in
Toledo, Ohio, Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, St. Francis College in
Fort Wayne, Indiana, Master of Ministry from Kentucky Christian University in
Grayson, Kentucky. Mr. Bullock wrote a syndicated column, "Happiness Is", printed
in several newspapers across the Midwest. He has served as a minister in
churches in Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, and Tennessee. He pastured West
Village Christian Church in Oak Ridge, Tennessee for 20 years. After his
retirement in 1995 as the senior minister, Don preached occasionally and taught the
"BYKTOA" Sunday School Class. He has been listed in "Who's Who in the Protestant
Clergy" and "Who's Who in the Midwest." Mr. Bullock was a member of Faith
Lodge 756 of Oak Ridge, the York Rite Bodies of Oak Ridge, the Knoxville Scottish
Rite, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite of Oak Ridge, past president of Scottish
Rite, active in the local Visual Support Group, and member of the Lion's Club in
Ohio. He is survived by: his wife of 53 years, Jewel Willene of Oak Ridge; his
daughters, Pamela Rettig and husband, John of Findlay, Ohio, Diane Sieffert
and husband, Troy of Lansing, Michigan, Lynette Bullock of Oak Ridge, Tennessee,
Becky Campbell and husband, Silas of Oak Ridge; and his son, Tim Bullock of
Oak Ridge. He is also survived by: a brother, Denver Bullock and wife, Kitty of
Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Joyce Anderson and husband, Jim of Crossville,
Tennessee; and nine grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren;
and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. Mr. Bullock's body will be
cremated. The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm with a memorial service to
follow at 8 pm on Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at West Village Christian
Church, Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The family has requested that memorials be made to:
West Village Christian Church or Covenant HomeCare Hospice (Fort Sanders
Foundation, 1901 W. Clinch Ave., Knoxville, TN 37916-9986). Weatherford Mortuary

FINLEY, IRENE - age 89 of Knoxville, formerly of LaFollette, passed away,
Saturday, September 17, 2005 at NHC in Oak Ridge. She was preceded in death by:
husband, Homer Lee Finley; daughter, Marilyn Jean Finley; sons, Roger Scott &
Jeffery Finley; grandson, Zane Finley; brothers, Arnold & Elihue Green.
Survivors: daughter & son-in- law, Judy & Michael Reynolds, Knoxville; sons &
daughters-in-law, Jimmy Arnold & Faye Finley, LaFollette, Homer Lee, Jr. & Glenda Fay
Finley, Calhoun, Ga, Jerry Lynn Finley, LaFollette, Joe & Phyllis Finley,
Gray, TN; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Green;
sisters, Ruth Anderson, Carolyn Ridenour, all of LaFollette, Sue Patterson, Oliver
Springs, Kathleen Cross, Jacksboro; several nieces & nephews. Funeral service 8
p.m. Monday Cross Chapel, Rev. Don Reynolds officiating. Family & friends will
meet 11 a.m. Tuesday at Campbell Memorial Gardens for interment service. The
family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at Cross Funeral Home.

HERRELL, MARGARET RUTH ROBERTS - age 87, of Claxton, passed away Saturday,
September 17, 2005 at Windwood Health Care Center. She was a member of Calvary
Baptist Church in Heiskell and taught the Ladies Sunday School Class for
several years. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Oliver E.
Herrell; parents, John Henry and Sallie Walker Roberts; brothers, Earl and John
Roberts; sister, Elizabeth Haney. Survivors: sons, David & wife Sharon
Herrell of Claxton, Jim Herrell of Claxton, Robert & wife Bonnie Herrell of Claxton,
Paul & wife Gladys "Pucci" Herrell of Andersonville; daughters, Jane &
husband George Whaley of Knoxville, Mary Ruth & husband Steve Anderson of Claxton,
Judy & husband Dale McDonald of Claxton; brother, Lloyd Roberts & wife Katie of
Knoxville; sister-in-law, Hazel Roberts of Knoxville; grandchildren, Joseph,
David, Derek, Jason Herrell, Debbie Rosa, Tim Herrell, Rob and Rick Herrell,
Catherine Ellis, Teri Holmberg, Randy Whaley, Stephanie Mann, Joseph Anderson,
Carla Golden, and Blanche Tuell; 26 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and
nephews. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, September 19,
2005 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be 2:00 PM,
Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at Calvary Baptist Church of Heiskell with Rev. Harold
Ogle and Rev. Joseph Herrell officiating. The burial will follow the funeral
service at Zion Cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of
flowers the family has requested memorials be made to The Gideons International,
P.O. Box 536, Clinton, Tennessee 37717. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton
in charge of all arrangements.

JONES, RICHARD ALLAN - 74 of Oak Ridge, died at the Methodist Medical Center
on Friday, September 16, 2005. He was born August 20, 1931 in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania to Harry and Anna Bierling Jones. He served in United States Navy
from 1948-1952. He graduated from LaSalle College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
in 1961 with a degree in Electronic Physics. Mr. Jones worked for RCA in
Camden, New Jersey until 1972. He worked on high level security for many years
until becoming involved in the Space Program and later computer systems. In 1976
he joined EG&G ORTEC working in Research and Development and of
troubleshooting of Nuclear Detectors and PET Scan Medical instrumentation. In 1985, he
joined Elo-Touch Systems troubleshooting of Touch Screens, later becoming manager
of Research and Development. They lived in Fremont, California from 1993 to
1995 and helped make the California facility profitable. He retired in 1997 when
they closed the Oak Ridge facility. He was active in the United States Power
Squadron from 1978-2004. Mr. Jones was very involved while his daughters were
swimming for the Atomic City Aquatic Club. He and his wife enjoyed traveling
all over the world and the United States and he was an avid scuba diver. Along
with his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his brother, Harry "Bud"
Evans Jones. Mr. Jones is survived by: his wife, Beatrice Leffel Jones, of Oak
Ridge; two daughters, Patricia Ann Clark and her husband, William of
Cookeville, and Carole Lee Jackson of Oak Ridge; one sister, Dorothy McGee of
Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, William Tyler Clark and Jordan Taylor Clark, both of
Cookeville; a special niece, Ann Hill and her husband, Edwin of Perkiomenville,
Pennsylvania; a nephew, Wayne Jones of New York City, New York; and nieces,
Judy Colmery and her husband, Merrill of Spring Hill, Florida, Sue Scherbein
and her husband, Hermon of Woodbine, New Jersey, and Bonnie Shaffer and her
husband, Marshall of Lake Stevens, Washington; and numerous great and great-great
nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2005
at United Church Chapel on the Hill at 2:00 pm with Dr. Boyd Carter
officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society,
Anderson County, c/o Jerri Melhorn-Amonett, Chair, 104 Antioch Drive, Oak
Ridge, TN 37830. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm at the church
and following the service. Weatherford Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
