Mrs. Rannie Carter announces the marriage of her daughter, Martha to Monroe
Simms of
LaFollette, Aug. 29. The couple was married in Jacksboro and plan to make
their home in
LaFollette.

Mr. and Mrs. B.A. Bible of Knoxville visited Mrs. Bible's mother, Mrs. G.P.
Norman, Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. L.W. Stark and Mr. and Mrs. Silas Burris and son, Taylor, have
returned home after a trip to Dalton, Ga.

Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Patterson announce the birth of a son Saturday, Aug. 30.

Sunday guest of Mr. and Mrs. Condy Brogan were Mr. and Mrs. Fred McGhee of
Caryville
also Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay Duncan of LaFollette.

Pvt. Earl McAbee has returned to his post in Keesler Field, Miss., after
spending a 10 day leave with his mother, Mrs. J.F. McAbee.

Mrs. Paul Tolbert and daughter, Gertrude, of Milwaukee, Wisc. are visiting
Mr. and Mrs.
Clayton Hatmaker.

Lewis Neal Smiddy has returned to Oak Ridge after spending a week with his
grandmother
Mrs. Hubert Smiddy.

Mrs. Franklin A. Jones and daughter, Marie, of Oak Ridge were the guests of
Mrs. W.C.
Jones, Sunday.

C.T. Kesterson has returned to Sheridan, Wyo. after a visit with his family
and friends in
Briceville.

George W. Scarbrough remains in a serious condition this week at his home.
