BRADHAM, BEATRICE C. - age 89 of Oak Ridge, went to be with the Lord Tuesday
August 30, 2005. A member of the Robertsville Baptist Church and later
Christian Outreach Assembly of God, she moved to Oak Ridge in 1941. Her husband came
to work here during the Manhattan Project at the K-25 Plant. She enjoyed
spending time with her grandchildren, flower gardening and attending church. Her
family remembers the years of bountiful home cooked meals she prepared for
holidays and family gatherings. She is remembered as a loving mother, grandmother,
mother-in-law and friend. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Basil and
Mable Cochran-Freeman; her husband, John W. Bradham; two sisters, Ora Ray and
Betty Cochran. Mrs. Bradham is survived by: her children and their spouses,
William B. Bradham and his wife Leatha of Michigan, Betty B. Janney and her
husband Douglas of Oak Ridge; her loving and devoted daughter, Nancy Roberts, who
served as her mother's primary caretaker for many years and her husband Danny
of Oliver Springs, two sisters, Mrs. Cora Clemmer of Memphis and Pat Stevens
of Missouri, one brother, Ted Cochran of Memphis; five grandchildren, Linda
Dickson, Carol Hancz, Douglas B. Janney III, John C. Janney, and Amanda J.
Johnston; one great grandchild John Dickson; several nieces and nephews; a special
great nephew, Jeremy Daugherty of Memphis; and two special friends are
remembered; Mrs. Geneva Creekmore and Mrs. Mae Hobbs. The family extends their
gratitude to Dr. Wendell Lawson and Dr. David Compton for their Care, Knowledge,
Skill, and Compassion. Her special caregivers, Ms. Leslie Barnes, Ms. Candice
Welch and Ms. Betty Fraker for their devotion to her care. William B. Bradham,
Danny Roberts, Douglas B. Janney Jr. Douglas B. Janney III, John C. Janney, and
Jeremy Daugherty will serve as pallbearers. The funeral service will be held
Thursday September 1, 2005 8:00pm in the Chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral
Home with Rev. Archer Corder officiating. Interment will beside her husband on
Friday September 2, 2005 10:00am at Anderson Memorial Gardens. The family will

EVANS, GLADYS V. - age 84 of Caryville, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2005
at the Lake City Health Care. She was a member of Lake View Baptist Church.
Mrs. Evans loved to read her Bible. She also enjoyed drawing, coloring, and
sewing. Preceded in death by: husband, Clarence Bedford Evans; daughter, Doris
Jessie; parents, Thomas and Nellie Davis Lay; brother, James Lay; sisters, Mary
Smith. Maude Jackson. Survived by: son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Sue Evans
of Caryville; daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Harold Phillips of
LaFollette, Wanda and Billy Norton of Jacksboro, Ruth and Rollin Huff of Middletown,
OH; son-in- law, Dallis Jessie of Jacksboro; 8 grandchildren; 11 great
grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren; brother and wife, Odeva and Virginia
Lay of Caryville; sisters and husbands, Edna and Andrew Daugherty of Knoxville,
Mildred and Harry Phillips of Dayton, OH. Funeral services will be 8pm
Wednesday, August 31 in Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Roger Stanley and Rev. Ralph
Schetterly officiating. Interment will be 11 am Thursday in Evans Cemetery. The
family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday night before funeral

GENTRY, CHARLES (CHARLIE) EDWARD - age 70, died suddenly August 28, 2005. Mr.
Gentry was owner and operator of K/C Farms that specializes in Registered
Black Angus Cattle. He was a Professor at Carson Newman College in Jefferson City
for 27 years. He attended Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Jacksboro, TN.
Mr. Gentry was a nationally known Social Worker and Advocate who dedicated his
career to helping children and families, and was the Executive Director of
Child and Family Tennessee for 27 years. After leaving Child and Family, Mr.
Gentry stated many significant programs for East Tennessee. Several that were
very close to his heart were: the Project Against Sexual Abuse of Appalachian
Children (PASAAC), one of the first childhood Sexual Abuse Treatment Centers in
the US; the Family Crisis Center, which was the first Domestic Violence
Shelters in Knoxville, and the Runaway Shelter, the first program in Knoxville for
runaway children. After serving in the United States Army from 1954-1957, he
went on to complete his Undergraduates and Graduate Degrees from the University
of Tennessee, and received the Distinguished Service Award from the UT School
of Social Work in 1978. He was the Tennessee Delegate to the White House
Conference of Families in 1980 and received the Commissioner's Award from the US
Department of Health and Human Service in 1989. In 1994 he wrote a book on Crisis
Intervention with Families that was published in manual form by the US
Department of Health and Human Services for distribution of helping professionals
across the county. Mr. Gentry was preceded in death by: his parents, Giles C.
Gentry and Nettie Clark Gentry. Survivors are: his wife, Kay Gentry of
Jacksboro; and grandson, Joseph Ball; sons and daughters-in-law, Lee and Tessa Gentry
and their children Grant and Molly of Knoxville, Chuck and Mitzi Gentry and
their children Matt and Lauren of Lenoir City, and son, Brian Gentry of
Knoxville. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 2 at Mt. Zion United
Methodist Church in Jacksboro, Rev. Jim Mullens officiating, followed by
interment in Mt. Zion UMC Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are being asked
to be made to: Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, PO Box 197, Jacksboro, TN
37757 or to: Holston Home for Children, PO Box 188 Greeneville, TN 37744. The
family will receive friends at Gentry-Griffey Funeral Chapel of Knoxville on

LaMARR, CURTIS, SR. - age 95 of Knoxville, died 5:45 p.m. Monday, August 29,
2005 at St. Mary's Residential Hospice. Originally from LaFollette, Tennessee,
Mr. LaMarr was one of the partners to first buy Norris Creamery from TVA
after the completion of Norris Dam. When America entered World War II, he moved to
New York City where he attended the College of Radio and Electronics and
repaired warplane radios for American Airlines at LaGuardia Airfield. After the
war, he returned to Knoxville as a radio engineer for WBIR Radio. When
Knoxville's first television station, WATE, was initiated, Mr. LaMarr was recruited to
oversee the electronics and help bring it onto the air. He continued to work
there until WBIR-TV began plans for their station and brought him onboard as a
video engineer where he continued to work until retirement. Mr. LaMarr was
also employed by the Knox County School System where he taught radio, television,
and electronics at Fulton and Doyle High Schools, and later taught industrial
electronics at Carter County High School. He continued to teach part-time in
Knoxville adult education programs until retiring at 81 years of age. Preceded
in death by: wife of 71 years, Edna Reed LaMarr; parents, Vachel and Nancy
LaMarr; sister, Nina LaMarr Rutherford; brothers, Bill LaMarr and Vachel Lee
LaMarr. Survived by: daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Bill Kerr; sons and
daughters-in-law, Curtis and Nancy (McCorkle) LaMarr, and Jimmy and Cindy (Mobley)
LaMarr; grandchildren: Karen and Greg Miller, Langley and Bob Dean, Vickie and
Bill Nichols, Randy and Stacey Kerr, Matthew and Casy LaMarr, Tristin LaMarr;
great grandchildren, Evan and Mallory Miller, Darchelle and Bobby Dean,
Johnathan and Kimmie Nichols, Camille and Connor Kerr, Chad Daughtery; sisters,
Martha Jean LaMarr Foust, Dora LaMarr Jones, Edna LaMarr Bolton, Barbara Jean
LaMarr Hubbs; special nephew and family, Mike and Judy Dooley and sons Tom and
Todd; numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will meet 8:45 a.m. Friday,
September 2, 2005 at Leach Cemetery in Lake City for a 9:00 a.m. graveside
service and interment with Rev. Brian Courtney officiating. The family will
receive friends 6:00- 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at

QUEENER, MR. MILLARD - age 84 of LaFollette, passed away Monday, August 29,
2005, at his home. He was a man who loved his God, his Fellow man and his
family. The example he set through the life he lived was one of kindness,
generosity, selflessness and love. He was a member of the LaFollette Masonic Lodge #623
F.&A.M., the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, Veteran of
WWII, a brother of the United Association of Plumbers, Pipefitters, Sprinkler
Fitters and Service Techs, and was a member of High Knob Baptist Church. He was
preceded in death by: a daughter, Shirley Queener Shepherd; and grandson,
Stevie Shepherd; parents, Millard Filmore Queener and Martha Campbell Queener;
brothers, Bill and the Rev. Ed Queener; sisters, Nola Queener Cordell and Grace
Queener Melton. Survivors: his wife of 60 years, Mrs. Cleo Lawson Queener;
daughter, Becky Queener McCreary and husband, John of LaFollette; son, Jack
Queener and wife, Evelyn of Spartanburg, SC; seven grandchildren; five great-
grandchildren; sister, Alice Queener Norman and husband, Charles of Kingsport, TN;
brother, Ira Queener and wife, Martha of Mascoutah, IL.; several nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services Wednesday 8 p.m. at Walters
Chapel with Rev. Paul Hembree and Rev. Leroy Braden officiating. Interment
Thursday 11 a.m. at Bakers Forge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6

TODD, DONALD E. - age 87 of Wartburg, passed away Monday, August 29, 2005. He
was born in Elgin, TN, graduated Robbins High School, UT Martin and UT
Knoxville. He was a First Lieutenant in the 13th Army Air Corps, serving as a
Bombardier during World War II in the Pacific Theatre until his discharge in 1994.
He worked for the Agricultural Adjustment Administration, Soil Conservation
Service and was a retired Morgan County Teacher and member of the Retired
Teacher's Association. He was a Boy Scout Leader and Sunday School Teacher in First
Baptist Church of Wartburg. He was a charter member of the Morgan County
Genealogical and Historical Society and served as Morgan County Historian until his
death. Mr. Todd was very active in environmental and conservation issues until
his death and received numerous awards. As a part of his environmental
efforts, he hosted a radio talk show, led wildflower hikes in Frozen Head State Park
and appeared on the Heartland television series. He was a founder and Past
President of the Tennessee Trails Association with a prime role in passing the
bill that created Tennessee's Scenic Trail System. He was also a founder and
served three terms as President of Tennessee Citizens for Wilderness Planning.
Mr. Todd was instrumental in the establishment of the Obed River as part of the
National Wild and Scenic River System. He led efforts for the establishment
of Frozen Head State Park and later efforts to expand the protection of the
Flat Fork Valley adjacent to the park. For these efforts, he was the first
Tennessean to be presented with the prestigious Gulf Oil Award in 1985. Mr. Todd
also received the 2000 Lifetime Achievement Award in Morgan County. He was
preceded in death by: his wife, Elgiva; brothers, Charles and Collins. He is
survived by: sons, Donald Jr. and Stephen; daughter, Janet; seven grandchildren;
sisters, June Ogilvie, Vivian Gateley, Betty Cable, Virginia Watts, Jacquetta
Summer. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 31, 2005 from 6-8 pm at
Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg. Funeral services will follow at 8 pm with
Bro. Homer Hooks officiating. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, 11
am in Morgan Memorial Gardens, Wartburg.

WILLIAMS, LILLIAN FAY - age 71 of Kingston, passed away Monday, August 29,
2005 at her home. She was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church.
Retired from Y-12 after 47 years of service. Fay was involved in working with the
Salvation Army. Preceded in death by: parents, Aulcy and Rose Williams;
sister, Helen Marcum and husband, David; brothers, Earl C. Williams, Roy A.
Williams and Robert A. Williams. Survived by: brother, Fred Williams and wife, Lois
of Knoxville; sister, Evelyn Dyke and husband, Glen of Mascot; several nieces
and nephews; many good friends including Blanch Harvey, Norma Jean Hensley and
Dot Hensley. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at
Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.
Thursday in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Markwood officiating. Family
