Roy Lee Towns, 85, a longtime Oak Ridger,
Edith Cargile, 83, of Evensville, Tenn.,
Kathrine Cole, 62, of Canton, Mich., formerly of Clinton,
Juanita Nolan, 53, of Oliver Springs,

Roy Lee Towns, 85, a longtime Oak Ridger, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005, at NHC
HealthCare of Oak Ridge.
He was born June 19, 1920, in Smyrna, Tenn., the son of William Madison Towns
and Charlotte Elizabeth Sims Towns, and was the youngest of six children.
Mr. Towns retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems at the X-10 facility as
a senior technician. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a 50-year
member of Faith Lodge No. 756. Mr. Towns was an avid tennis player and was
elected into the Oak Ridge Sports Hall of Fame in 2001. He was also a member of the
US Tennis Association.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Willie Bruce Towns of Oak Ridge; his
son, Roderick Edward Towns and wife, Brenda, of DeSota, Texas; his daughter,
Marsha Kathryn Towns of Oak Ridge; and two grandchildren, Benjamin and Kenneth
Towns of DeSota, Texas.
A Masonic service will be held in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary at 8
p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005, led by members of Faith Masonic Lodge No. 756.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005, in the chapel of
Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Tim Borchert officiating. The burial will
follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
The family requests that memorials be in the form of donations to the Boys
Club of Oak Ridge, P.O. Box 4021, Oak Ridge, TN 37831-4021, or to Girls
Incorporated of Oak Ridge, P.O. Box 7040, Oak Ridge, TN 37831-7040.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Weatherford
Mortuary.

Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Edith Cargile, 83, of Evensville, Tenn., died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005, at her
residence.
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of the arrangements, which
were incomplete at press time.

Kathrine Cole, 62, of Canton, Mich., formerly of Clinton, died Saturday, Aug.
27, 2005, at her residence.
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of the arrangements, which

Juanita Nolan, 53, of Oliver Springs, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005, at
Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
