COX, BETTY LELA - age 74, Fratersville, TN,
COX, DAVID RAY - age 52, a resident of Harriman,
PAYNE, SALLY H. - age 72 of Jellico, TN,
COX, BETTY LELA - age 74, Fratersville, TN, passed away Saturday, August 27,
2005 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, TN. She was born February
6, 1931 in Harlan, Kentucky. Betty was a member of the Fratersville Baptist
Church. She loved being a wife and loving mother of 12 children. She also enjoyed
attending sporting events when her children were involved. She is preceded in
death by: her husband, Esco "Brody" Cox; and her parents, Steve and Gladys
Hubbard Chamblee. Survivors: sons, Harold Cox & wife Polly, Caryville, TN, David
Cox, Clinton, TN, Richard Cox & wife Becky, Powell, TN, Tommy Cox, Oak Ridge,
TN, Johnny Cox & wife Karen, Lake City, TN, Steve Cox & wife Debbie, Jellico,
TN, Tim Cox & wife Virgie, Lake City, TN, Mark Cox, Lake City, TN, Danny Cox &
wife Teresa, Lancing, TN; daughters, Janice Mowery & husband David,
Caryville, TN, Virginia Saunders & husband David, Clinton, TN, Tresea Hipsher &
husband Rod, Powell, TN; 28 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 3 great great
grandchildren. Visitation 6-8 pm Monday, August 29, 2005 at the Hatmaker Funeral
Home. Funeral service 8 pm Monday, August 29, 2005 in the Hatmaker Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Byrge & Rev. Mike Thompson officiating. Interment 11 am
Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at the Leach Cemetery in Lake City, TN. Hatmaker
Funeral Home of Lake City in charge of arrangements.
COX, DAVID RAY - age 52, a lifelong resident of Harriman, passed away
Saturday, August 27, 2005, at St. Mary's Hospice Center in Halls. David was a
lifetime member of the Roane County Rescue Squad; a member and deacon of Trenton
Street Baptist Church in Harriman; and he served in the U.S. Army. He was an
educator in the Harriman City and Roane County School Systems, having taught at the
middle school level. He was the coach for the South Harriman Middle School
girls basketball team; the Harriman High School girls softball team; and an
usher at the University of Tennessee football and basketball games. David also
enjoyed being an amateur radio operator. He was preceded in death by: his father,
Robert Wesley Cox; grandparents, Adamus and Martin Webb, John & Annie Cox;
and extended family member, Lucille Lyle. Survivors are: wife, Cathy Betts Cox
of Harriman; son, Michael Wesley Cox of Harriman; mother, Sarah Rebecca Cox of
Harriman; sister, Becky Ann Scandlyn and husband, Steve of Harriman; brothers,
Bobby Cox & wife, Peggy of Harriman, Carle Cox & wife, Doris of Harriman;
brothers-in-law, Terry Betts & wife, Debbie, Tim Betts & wife, Lisa; nieces,
Bobbie Sue Brown & husband, Greg, Tammy Braden & husband, Wayne, Whitney Collins &
husband, Chris, Stephanie Keith & husband, Tim, Ashley Perkins & husband,
Dustin, Annie Scandlyn, Amy Scandlyn, Ashley Betts; great nephews, Dustin &
Nathan Braden, Logan Brown, Zachary Parkinson, Ben McClain, Isaac Collins; special
cousin, Richa Ann Russell; extended family, Robert Edward Lyle and Greg & Ted
Love; special friend, Cory Hines. Funeral 8:00 p.m. Monday August 28 at Kyker
Funeral Home Chapel in Harriman with the Reverend Paul Moody officiating.
Graveside service and interment will be 11:00 am Tuesday in Roane Memorial Gardens
with Full Military Honors by the Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Kyker
Funeral Home, Harriman. Memorial donations may be made to the Roane County

PAYNE, SALLY H. - age 72 of Jellico, TN, passed away Saturday, August 27,
2005 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center at Corbin Kentucky. She was a member
of the First Baptist Church of Jellico, TN. Survivors: husband, William E.
Payne of Jellico, TN; daughters, Patricia Ann Lambdin and husband Larry of White
Oak, TN, Billie Lynne Begluitti and husband William F. of Jellico, TN, Dorothy
Alice Cecil and husband Dwayne of Harriman, TN; brother, James N. Haskew and
wife Joyce of South Pittsburg, TN; three grandchildren, William Brett
Begluitti, William Robert Cecil and Sarah Ann Cecil; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services 8:00 pm Monday, August 29, 2005 at the Llewellyn Funeral Home
Chapel in Jellico, TN with the Rev. Roger Cecil and the Rev. Danny King
officiating. The burial will be 2:00 pm Central Time Tuesday, August 30, 2005 in the
Gilliam Cemetery, South Pittsburg, TN. Visitation 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday, August
29, 2005. Llewellyn Funeral Home of Jellico, TN in charge of arrangements.
