BEELER, REV. G. F., "POP BEELER" - age 74 of New Tazewell, TN, was born
February 4, 1931 and went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 28, 2005; at
Claiborne County Nursing Home, after a short illness with cancer. He was born
in Union County, on Clinch River near 33 Bridge; the eldest of 5 children to
Lois Breeding Beeler and Rev. George "Forester" Beeler, Sr. Professed faith in
Christ, December 1940, while attending revival, leaving Lake View School,
walking to day services at Little Barren Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member
of Little Barren Missionary Baptist Church. Ordained as a minister to gospel
on October 6, 1968, at Straight Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor of
several churches in Claiborne and Union Counties, also served as evangelist in
many revivals; and participated as counselor in Crusade Ministries Area Wide
Crusade in Maynardville, TN; and counselor in Crusade for Christ in Claiborne
County. Little Barren was the first church he was pastor in 1969; and he was also
pastor at Little Barren Missionary Baptist Church for the past 22 years,
until June of this year. Member of Evening Star Masonic Lodge, #180, New Tazewell,
TN. Retired carpenter, Member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters Union Local
#50 for over 40 years. Married Christine Thacker Beeler June 10, 1950; by
Rev. Sam Coffey. Preceded in death by: his loving wife of over 51 years,
Christine Beeler; infant son, Terry Brent Beeler; parents, Rev. Forester and Lois
Beeler; brother, Mark Beeler. Survivors include: sons, Richard Beeler and
daughter-in-law, Lynette of Harrogate TN, Rev. Larry A. Beeler and daughter-in-law,
Sharron of New Tazewell, TN; daughter, Becky Gordon and son-in-law, Gary of New
Tazewell, TN; four (4) grandsons, Tim and wife Miriah of Maynardville, TN,
Jonathan Beeler of Morristown, TN, Rev. Derek Drummonds of New Tazewell, TN,
Nathan Beeler of Harrogate, TN; sister, Daisy Ella Lawson and special
brother-in-law, Bill of New Tazewell; brothers, Jake Beeler all of New Tazewell, TN, Billy
and sister-in-law, Margaret of Harrogate, TN; aunt, Eva Chandler, San Diego,
California; uncles, Cawood Breeding, Whitesburg, TN, Palmer Breeding,
Knoxville, TN; host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. "Pop" enjoyed gardening,
farming, working with his hands, hunting; but most of all, "the Lord's work
and the Lord's creation, big and small. The family will receive friends Monday,
August 29, 2005, from 5-8:30 pm at the Claiborne Funeral Home with Masonic
services to follow at 8:30pm. Funeral services will be conducted 11 am, Tuesday,
in the Claiborne Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Beeler and the Rev.
Doug Atkins officiating. Music by the Little Barren Church Choir. Pallbearers:
Tim Beeler, Jonathan Beeler, Nathan Beeler, Derek Drummonds, Bobby Williams,
David Cole. Honorary pallbearers, all area ministers. Burial in the Burch
Cemetery. Claiborne Funeral Home in charge.
