The Resurrection of an Old Quarrel
Brought About a Shooting
Match
Middlesboro. Ky., May 10.—John
Turner, formerly chief of police of
Middlesboro, was killed by Lee Turner,
of "Quarter House" fame, at
"The Narrows," 13 miles from Jellico,
Tenn. John Turner was one of the
guards of the Southern railroad at
"The Narrows," where he went last
week. Lee Turner was running a saloon
at LaFollette, Tenn. The men
were cousins, but old enemies. At
the time Lee Turner's famous "Quarter
House," near this city, was burned
and nine of his followers killed, John
belonged to the posse which burned
the "Quarter House." John Turner's
head was shot full of holes, and Lee
Turner is mortally wounded.
