Hubert W. "Buddy" Hensley Jr., 79, of Norris,
Bettye "Miss Bettye" Shular, 62, of Oak Ridge,
Hubert W. "Buddy" Hensley Jr., 79, of Norris, died peacefully at his home,
Sunday, July 3, 2005. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church in
Norris, a 55-year member of Masonic Lodge No. 259 in Norton, Va., and a member of
the Order of Eastern Star in Johnson City. He was a veteran of World War II,
serving aboard the USS Eldorado, and retired from the Y-12 Plant in Oak Ridge.
Mr. Hensley was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Violette; and by
two brothers and a sister, Harry and Johnny Hensley and Harriet Louise Hensley.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William and Penny Hensley; his
daughter, Harriet Gamble; his grandchildren, Sarah and Hal Lyday, Alicia and
Gary Hatmaker, David Hensley, Sheena Powers, Matthew Gamble, and Angelynn and
Kelly Duncan; his great-grandchildren, Spencer Widener, Thomas and Ethan Lyday,
Alexis and Austin Hatmaker, Gabrielle and Benjamin Duncan, and Everett
Powers; and by lifelong friends, Denny Klender, Brenda, Nathan, Jamie and Colton
Wade. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at Woodhaven
Funeral Home in Claxton. The burial will follow at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Woodhaven Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens is in charge of arrangements.
Bettye "Miss Bettye" Shular, 62, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, July 4, 2005. She
was an Oak Ridge school bus driver for more than 25 years and was an avid
bowler for 35 years, participating in tournaments and traveling across the United
States with many bowling leagues. She is survived by her husband, Delmar
Shular; her son, Michael Spencer of Paducah, Ky.; two grandsons, Brandon and
Jeremy Spencer of Paducah, Ky.; five stepchildren; a sister and brother-in-law,
Marion and Boyd Malone of Oak Ridge; her brother, Bill Forkin of Andersonville;
her mother, Edith Drinnen of Oliver Springs; and by a special aunt, Aileen
Helton of Crossville. The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2005,
in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home in Sevierville with the Rev. Ernie
Coleman and the Rev. W. A. Galyon officiating. The burial will be at 11 a.m.
Thursday, July 7, at the Shiloh Cemetery. The family will receive friends from
5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Atchley Funeral Home in Sevierville
is in charge of arrangements.
