Harold Lee Bell, of Oak Ridge,

Harold Lee Bell, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, July 4, 2005, at Methodist
Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born Sept. 12, 1923, in Corinth, Miss., he was the son
of Mitchell Bell and Edna Clyde Tyson Bell. He moved to Oak Ridge in 1953.
Harold began work in Oak Ridge at the K-25 Gaseous Diffusion Plant as a barrier
operator. After a plant layoff in 1961 Harold moved his family to Rapid City,
S.D., and then Chico, Calif., before returning to Oak Ridge in late 1962. He
worked at the Y-12 Plant until retirement in 1986 as a department head in the
Product Certification division. Harold enjoyed gardening, cooking and helping
out his neighbors after retirement. He was always there to give a hand to his
friends. Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Bell; and two sisters,
Hazel Dillon and Joyce Seyfried. Harold lost his sister, Joyce, on July 2,
only two days prior to his own death. Harold is survived by his sister, Betty
Forseman and husband, Jack, of Oak Ridge; his brother-in-law, Bob Seyfried of Oak
Ridge; three sons, Dennis Bell of Knoxville, Greg Bell and wife, Patsy, of
Oak Ridge, and Don Bell of Oak Ridge; his grandson, Bill Bell of Knoxville; and
his granddaughter, Grace Woods, her husband, Morgan, and their son Chase, of
Fairfield, Calif. He is also survived by his aunt, Kathryn Freeman and husband,
John, of Southhaven, Miss.; his nephews, Steve Irving and family of
Knoxville, Richard Dillon and family of Greenwood, Miss., Jackie Dillon II and family
of Dublin, Ga., and Tim Forseman of Travelers Rest, S.C.; and his nieces, Jill
Kenney and family of Superior, Colo., and Dianne Brindle of Crenshaw, Miss.
Harold was especially fond of his daughter-in-law, Patsy Bell, who helped him
during the last several years of his life. Also special to him was a cousin,
Winfred Sutton, of Corinth, Miss. The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday,
July 6, 2005, at Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Michael Prince officiating.
The graveside service and burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 7, at Oak
Ridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be
sent to The American Heart Association, 4708 Papermill Drive, Knoxville, TN
37919, or The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 120 Wall Street 19th Floor, New
York, NY 10005. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at

David Oliver Davidson, 90, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, July 3, 2005, at the
Medical Center of Manchester. Born April 26, 1915, in Finger, Tenn., he was the
son of M. V. and Pearlie Reeves Davidson. Mr. Davidson came to Oak Ridge in
1944 and began working with Union Carbide Corporation as a chemical operator. He
retired from the K-25 Gaseous Diffusion Plant in 1980. He was a long-time
member and deacon of New York Avenue Church of Christ. He was very active in the
church's benevolence ministry and also taught Bible classes in the community.
Mr. Davidson was an avid reader and passionate about encouraging young mothers
to read to their children. Often he would donate children's books to various
libraries. He also enjoyed gardening, women's basketball, refinishing
furniture and going to garage sales. In addition to his parents and four sisters, he
was preceded in death by his wife, Iness Irene Davidson, who died March 10,
1999. He is survived by his three daughters, Judy Benjamin and husband, Benny, of
Manchester, Nancy Parrish and husband, Charles, of Goodlettsville, and Sherry
Worsham and husband, John, of Hendersonville; two sisters, Anne Murphy of
Jacksonville, Fla., and Rubye Melton of Wasilla, Alaska; eight grandchildren,
Shawn and Jennifer Benjamin of Kennesaw, Ga., Judy Benjamin Howell and husband,
Paul, and Dennis Benjamin and wife, Anjanette, all of Auburn, Ga., Shannon
Benjamin Wood and husband Derek, Tyler Benjamin, and Amber Benjamin, all of
Manchester, Vanessa Parrish of Milwaukee, Wis., Rachael Parrish of Goodlettsville,
and Sara Beth Worsham of Hendersonville; nine great-grandchildren, Brittany
Gitzen, Logan Benjamin, Kerry Benjamin, Kayla Wood, Erin Benjamin, Lauren
Benjamin, Laura Howell, Kelsey Wood, and baby Kyra; and by many dear and close
friends and neighbors. The funeral will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2005,
at Weatherford Mortuary with Benny Benjamin and Gabe Potter officiating. The
graveside service and burial will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 7, at Oak
Ridge Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Briceville Public
Library, 921 Andys Ridge Road, Briceville, TN 37710. The family will receive

Alfred C. Hoskins, 88, a lifelong resident of the Batley community in
Clinton, died Saturday, July 2, 2005, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Born May 4, 1917, in Knoxville, he was the son of William and Mattie Day
Hoskins. He moved to Anderson County at an early age and lived there all of his
adult life. Mr. Hoskins was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in
Oliver Springs. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Marlow Volunteer Fire
Department for several years. He retired from Union Carbide after 33 years of
service. After the completion of high school, and prior to World War II, Mr.
Hoskins entered the U.S. Army and served for two years. Following his discharge from
the Army at the onset of World War II, he re-enlisted into the U.S. Navy and
again served his country until the end of the war. In addition to his parents,
Mr. Hoskins was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Freels Hoskins; his
son, Walter John Hoskins; and by three brothers and a sister, Britton Hoskins,
Sam Hoskins, Frank Hoskins, and Lily Munds. He is survived by his son, Samuel
Britton Hoskins and wife, Joyce; his daughter, Patricia Hoskins Miller and
husband, Mark; three grandchildren, Samuel Jason Hoskins, Margaret Catherine
Gillespie, and Stacy Marie Miller; his great-grandson, Samuel Halcott Gillespie;
his sisters-in-law, Jean Simmons and Audrey Wood; his brother-in-law, Joe
Freels and wife, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members
and friends. The family would also like to recognize two long-term caregivers,
Joyce Smith and Heidi Sullivan, who provided for Mr. Hoskins during his last
illness. The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2005, in the
chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Albert Slusher
officiating. The graveside service and burial with full military honors will be held
at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 7, at Anderson Memorial Gardens on Oliver Springs
Highway. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the
funeral home. Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs is in charge of
arrangements.

Bettye "Miss Bettye" Shular, 62, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, July 4, 2005. She
was an Oak Ridge school bus driver for more than 25 years and was an avid
bowler for 35 years, participating in tournaments and traveling across the United
States with many bowling leagues. She is survived by her husband, Delmar
Shular; her son, Michael Spencer of Paducah, Ky.; two grandsons, Brandon and
Jeremy Spencer of Paducah, Ky.; five stepchildren; a sister and brother-in-law,
Marion and Boyd Malone of Oak Ridge; her brother, Bill Forkin of Andersonville;
her mother, Edith Drinnen of Oliver Springs; and by a special aunt, Aileen
Helton of Crossville. The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2005,
in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home in Sevierville with the Rev. Ernie
Coleman and the Rev. W. A. Galyon officiating. The burial will be at 11 a.m.
Thursday, July 7, at the Shiloh Cemetery. The family will receive friends from
5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Atchley Funeral Home in Sevierville
is in charge of arrangements.
