HATFIELD, ELIZABETH BETTY - age 82 of LaFollette

SHANNON, MR. ELMER LEE - age 61 of Sunbright, Tn.,
YORK, HOWARD HENRY - Age 62, of Harrogate, TN., formerly of Devonia, Tn.
HATFIELD, ELIZABETH BETTY - age 82 of LaFollette passed away Tuesday, May 17,
2005 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. She was a member of Cedar
Hill Baptist Church and Eastern Star in LaFollette. Preceded in death by
husband: Warren Hatfield, parents: Walter and Nellie Mae Bunch. Survived by son and
daughter in law: Warren Butch and Sandra Hatfield Jr. of LaFollette; daughter
and son in law: Kathy and Chip Palmer of Texas; 2 grandchildren; sister: Edna
Marie Smith of Lake City; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral
services will be 8 PM Thursday, May 19 in Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. David
Hicks and Rev. O.D. Hill officiating. Interment will be 10 AM Friday in
Campbell Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday
night before funeral services. Martin Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.
JOHNSON, W. L., JR. - age 55 of Strawberry Plains passed away Tuesday, May
17, 2005 at St. Mary's Hospital. He is survived by his parents W. L. Johnson Sr.
and Icelona Johnson of Lafollette; spouse Nancy Johnson of Strawberry Plains;
son D. J. Johnson of Strawberry Plains; daughter Rebecca Gibson and husband
Destin of Strawberry Plains; grandchildren Christina and Josh; brothers Robert
Johnson and wife Tina of Lafollette, Freddie Johnson and wife; and several
nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 19, 2005 from
6-8 pm with an 8 pm Chapel service with Rev. Cleo Whaley officiating. The
interment will be at 11 am Friday, May 20, 2005 at Pollard Cemetery. Family and
friends will meet at 10:45 am at Pollard Cemetery for the interment. In lieu of
flowers please make contributions c/o Nancy Johnson 8924 Curtis Road Strawberry
Plains, TN 37871. Evergreen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
SHANNON, MR. ELMER LEE - age 61 of Sunbright, Tn., passed away suddenly at
his home on Tuesday, May 17, 2005. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Primitive
Baptist Church and was a well known gospel music singer along with his brothers
and sister as part of "The Shannon Family". He was recently retired from the
trucking and heavy equipment industry. Mr. Shannon is preceded in death by his
parents, John and Gladys Young Shannon; Brothers: Eugene, Vaughn L., and Billy
Ray Shannon and former wife, Lana McKinney Shannon. He is survived by his
sons: David A. Shannon and Elmer "Tubby" Shannon of Wartburg. Former wife, Emily.
Special daughters and former step-daughters: Sara Hickman, Karen Brown, Pamela
Hamby and Bobbie Gail Forsythe. Granddaughter, Caleigh Shannon. Grandsons:
Chas and Chris Shannon. Sister and Brother-in-law, Mary Ruth and Ronald Hamby of
Rockwood. Brothers and sisters-in-law: James and Ada Shannon, Johnny and Mary
Lou Shannon of Sunbright, Wayne and Sheril Shannon of Harriman.
Sisters-in-law: Carolyn and Betty Shannon of Sunbright and Janice Shannon of Oliver
Springs. Several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday
evening, May 19th, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home, in Wartburg. Funeral
services will be held Friday, May 20th, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church
with Rev. David Dial and Rev. Charles Webb officiating. Interment will follow
in the church cemetery.
YORK, HOWARD HENRY - Age 62, of Harrogate, TN., formerly of Devonia, Tn.
passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at his residence. He was born May 30, 1942 in
Devonia, Tn. He was of the Baptist Faith and was a Mason. He also was a retired
Coal Miner. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mart and Ellen Seiber
York. Survivors: wife, Gladys West York, Harrogate, Tn.; sons, Henry York & wife,
Shelia, Speedwell, Tn., Marty York & wife, Jamie, Strawberry Plains, Tn.;
daughter, Shelia Branscomb, Speedwell, Tn.; brothers, Robert York, Wartburg, Tn.,
Joe Ed York, Oak Ridge, Tn., Tommy York, Devonia, Tn., George York, Devonia,
Tn., Charles York, Pineville, Ky; 5 grandchildren. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 PM,
Thursday, May 19,2005 at the Hatmaker Funeral Home. Funeral service: 8:00 PM
Thursday, May 19, 2005 in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Houston
Carroll officiating. Interment: 2:00 PM Friday, May 20, 2005 at the Bray Cemetery,
New River, Tn. Hatmaker Funeral Home of Lake City in charge of arrangements.
