Dorothy C. Downing, 86, of Topsham, Maine, died Tuesday April 19, 2005, at
her home. The daughter of Chauncey H. and Marion E. Newkirk Clements, she was
born Nov. 30, 1918, in New Haven, Conn. She attended schools in New Haven and
graduated from Connecticut College and Columbia School of Social Work. She
worked briefly in Waterville, Maine, at the Home for Little Wanders and in
Cincinnati, Ohio. On Feb. 15, 1947, she married Morton F. Downing Jr. in New Haven.
They moved to Vermont where they raised their two children. Mrs. Downing
returned to Maine in 1998. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in
Brunswick, Maine, and the American Association of University Women. In addition to
her husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother. She is survived by a
son, Mark Downing, of Oak Ridge; a daughter, Donna Buck of Winthrop, Maine; and
by four grandchildren. A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday,
April 26, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Brunswick, Maine. A memorial service
will also be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2005, at Immanuel Church in
Bellows Falls, Vt. Her burial will be in Rockingham, Vt. Memorial donations in her
memory may be made to The Coastal Humane Society, 30 Range Road, Brunswick, ME
04011. Stetson's Funeral Home in Brunswick, Maine, in charge of arrangements.


Myrna Williams, of Knoxville, died Monday, April 25, 2005, at her residence
after a courageous battle with cancer. She was retired from the Department of
Energy and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Concord and was
involved in the Clown Ministry. She was a charter member of the Clinch River
Toastmaster Club and was a Distinguished Toastmaster, the highest level of
achievement. Ms. Williams won first place in the Toastmaster District 63 Speech
Competition and she represented the district in the Region 8 competition. She is
survived by her mother, Ruby Tredway Gustison; her brother, Larry Gustison; her
sister, Vickie Elliott; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gayle and Michael
Powell, and Kathi and Greg Rogers; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Shannon
Williams; six grandchildren, Courtney Kraemer, Casey and Tyler Powell, Kolby
and Nicholas Rogers, and Jackson Williams; a great-grandson, Hudson Kraemer;
and a sister-law, Evelyn Seymour. The funeral will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday,
April 27, 2005, at Highland Memorial Funeral Home, 5315 Kingston Pike in
Knoxville, with the Rev. Victor Lee officiating. The family will receive friends from
5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials
may be made to the Mission of Hope Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 22312, Knoxville,
TN 37933. Highland Memorial Park, Funerals and Cremations is in charge of
arrangements

Benny Joe Lloyd, 39, of Lake City, died Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at his home.
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of the arrangements, which
were incomplete at press time.
