Hi Susie,
My son lives in Jellico and he started to
LaFollette at 3AM back last week and got tied up
in backed up traffic and didn't get to my house
until after 6 AM. He thought that the road would
be clear and it might have been had not a semi
got involved in an accident and had the only one
lane blocked. Had it been the daytime he would
have taken the old road but he figured since it
was so early in the morning nothing would be on
the road. Was he ever suprized.
Best bet if you are traveling South on 75 is take
either 25E as someone suggested thru the
Cumberland Gap area then thru Claiborne, Union on
into Knox County by way of SR33.
Or if you need to come to Anderson County take
the old road either 25w or 297 from Jellico thru
Campbell County to Hwy 116 (still a part of 25W)
to the first red light in Lake City to
intersection of Main St and HWY 441 turn left go
to Cobb Hollow Road (Sunoco and BP Gas stations
on each corner) turn right go thru Cobb Hollow to
stop sign.
New Hope Church sets on left side of Road. Just
go straight ahead and follow the road. At the
Church it is Savage Garden Road after you pass
the bridge that goes across the creek it becomes
Lovely Bluff Road once at the Massengill Bridge
the road forks to the left and straight up the
hill.
If you continue up the hill this is Hillvale Road
and it comes out on hwy 61 if you turn left you
can go to Norris and Andersonville or turn right
and go to Clinton or if you want back on the
Interstate just cross over the fourlane turn left
and the next right puts you back onto I-75.
They are working on one of the bridges just South
of Lake City and it can get awful from Caryville
to Lake City on the Interstate.
John
