Michael Lee Boles, 56, of Rockwood, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2005, at the
Roane Medical Center in Harriman. Before his retirement, Mr. Boles worked in
the maintenance department at K-25 and served as a union steward at the Y-12
Plant.
He was a Baptist, a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne
Screaming Eagles, point man and long range recon, a member of the Veterans of Foreign
Wars, American Legion Post No. 50, and a member of the Roane County Military
Memorial Honor Guard. He was preceded in death by his father, Arlie Boles; and
a sister, Janet Boles. In addition to his mother, Evelyn C. Boles of
Rockwood, Mr. Boles is survived by his wife, Dianna Boles of Rockwood; his daughters,
Shana Lea' Ann Boles of Oliver Springs, and Lauren Gail Boles of Rockwood; his
sister, Sarah Thomas and husband, Dwight, of Anderson, S.C.; his aunt, Betty
Carroll of Rockwood; his brothers-in-law and their families, Bobby Tweed and
wife, Alanna, and their children, Travis and Stefanie, of Rockwood, David Tweed
and wife, Vicki, and their daughter, Traci, of Knoxville, and Dennis Tweed
and wife, Annette, and their children, Alex and Alayna, of Charleston, Tenn. The
funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2005, in the chapel of Evans
Mortuary with the Rev. Charles Kelley officiating. Graveside services and the
burial will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Oak Grove Cemetery with full
military honors by the Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard. The family
will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Evans Mortuary.

Harry Lee "Bruz" Bennett, 82, of Keller, Texas, died Saturday, March 5, 2005,
at his home with his family by his side. He was born on June 22, 1922, in
Coal Creek, Tenn., son of coal miner, Frank, and homemaker, Katie. He was raised
in the hills of eastern Tennessee to appreciate God's gifts and to "love one
another." He followed these convictions throughout his life. He was a veteran
of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy, and he retired in 1985 from Arnold
Engineering Development Center in Tullahoma, Tenn. He was blessed with a
vivacious and loving spirit. He enjoyed playing in the Keller Senior Center
Kitchen Band and jumped at any opportunity to dance and laugh with his wife, Anna
Lou, with whom he would have celebrated 59 years of marriage on May 30, 2005.
Mr. Bennett was a Christian and served his Father well with a caring manner and
welcoming smile that he offered to all. He was a member of the First Baptist
Church in Keller, Texas, and had previous memberships at First Baptist Church
in Lake City, Tenn., First Baptist Church in Tullahoma, and Robertsville
Baptist Church in Oak Ridge. His heart sang along with hymns in church or at the
ballpark during the national anthem. He was a gentleman in every way and always
put others before himself. Mr. Bennett always greeted you as his 'buddy' with a
powerfully kind handshake and a gentle hug. He was a model Christian, a great
American and the treasure of his family. He was preceded in death by his
parents, Frank and Katie Hightower Bennett; and four brothers-in-law, John H.
Edwards, Tom Alderson, Ralph Weatherford, and Claude Coile. He is survived by his
loving wife, Anna Lou Edwards Bennett of Keller, Texas; his daughter, Donna
Lee and her husband, George Purcell, of Roanoke, Texas; his sisters, Mary Frank
Coile of Oak Ridge, Carmetia Alderson of Clinton, and Vivian Weatherford
Minish and her husband, H.D., of Oak Ridge; his grandsons, Tom Purcell of Roanoke,
Texas, and David Purcell of Fort Worth, Texas; his nephews, Mark Alderson of
Clinton, and Bennett Weatherford of Oak Ridge; his nieces, Joy Weatherford Katz
and Ralphine Weatherford, both of Oak Ridge, and several other family
members. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2005, in the chapel
of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Michael Prince officiating. The burial
will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family asks that any memorials be in
the form of contributions to either First Baptist Church of Keller, Texas,
Building Fund, 225 Keller Parkway, Keller, TX 76248; St. Jude Children's
Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942; or to a charity of the
donor's choice. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday
at the mortuary.

Hoyt E. Mullins Sr., 75, of Solway, died on Sunday, March 6, 2005, after a
long illness. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Mr.
Mullins was a retired coal mine operator with Indian Creek Coal Company. He
served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his
mother and father, James Oliver and Carrie Mullins; his sister, Helen Handley;
and his brothers, James Mullins and H.D. Mullins. Survivors include his
sister, Hazel Earley of Birmingham, Ala.; his wife, Lucille Mullins; his son and
daughter-in-law, Hoyt E. Mullins, Jr. and Paige of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; his
daughters and sons-in-law, Anita and Lynn Graham of Oliver Springs, and Brenda and
Ronnie Duff of Farragut; his grandchildren, Michael Yeary, Mitchell Yeary,
Denton Graham, Cydney Mullins, Morgan Mullins, and his stepgrandson Josh Graham.
Mr. Mullins is also survived by his longtime companion, Rita Fannin, and her
daughter, Sherri Martin. The funeral will be held at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March
8, 2005, in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve
McDonald officiating. The burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, at Oak
Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on
Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested
donations be made to Baptist Hospice P.O. Box 22, Knoxville, TN 37901. Online

Juanita F. Sloan, of Rockledge, Fla., died on Saturday, March 5, 2005, at
Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach, Fla. Mrs. Sloan retired from the National
Aeronautics and Space Administration in 1988 after 21 years. She and her
husband, Aubry, moved to Rockledge, Fla., in 1967 from Oak Ridge, where they had
met and married on Dec. 8, 1945. She was preceded in death by her father,
Arden, of Paducah, Ky., in 1975; her mother, Zenobia, of Cocoa Beach, Fla., in
1996; and her brothers, Doyle in 1952, and David in 1963, both of Paducah, Ky. In
addition to her husband of 59 years, Mrs. Sloan is survived by her two sons,
Dennis Sloan and his wife, Belinda, of Pittsburg, Ill., and Dewey Sloan; her
granddaughter, McCamy, of Charlotte N.C.; two sisters, Elsie Richardson and
family of Melbourne, Fla., and Beverly and Phil Logan of Cape Canaveral, Fla., and
her brother Jerry and wife Romona Grooms of Alpharett, Ga. A memorial service
will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2005, in the chapel at
Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home in Rockledge, Fla. The family will receive friends
for one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may
be made to the American Lung Association of Florida, Spaceport Region, P.O.
Box 549, Daytona, FL 32115.

Loren McKager Lawhorn, 82, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, March 7, 2005 at his
home. Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements, which were

Rebecca Woods, 63, of Oliver Springs, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at her

Rosa Hartfield, 97, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at Briarcliff
