Not everyone buried in the Delap cemetery was in the military. I have an
ancestor that I believe was buried there in 1862. He was not in the military
but was captured, according to a family story, by the Confederates when he
refused to join the Confederate Army. He was reported to have died by a
neighbor, who was also captured at the same time, but was later released. So, I do
not believe all the graves belong to soldiers.
