Woodrow Wilson Duncan
Woodrow Wilson Duncan,77,died June 27,at his home in Andersonville Rt.1.He retired from Ogla Coal
Company where he has worked as a plumber for over 40 years.Mr.Duncan was a member of Laurel Fork
Baptist Church in Laurel Fork,Va.,and of Masonic Lodge No.383 of Andersonville.Survivors include his wife,
Mildred Day Duncan,son and daughter-in-law,Marion and Patricia Duncan of Chattanooga,grandsons,
Brian and Tramm Duncan,sisters, Katherine and June Duncan,both of Bluefield,W.Va.,Ruth Bowman of
Hillsville,Va.,brothers, Charlie Duncan of Levert,Mass.,George Duncan of Sacramento,Calif.,Forrest Duncan
of Charleston,W.Va.and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services were held Friday night at Holley-
Gamble Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.Don Adams officiating. A Masonic service preceded the funeral
service.Burial was Saturday at Norris Memorial Gardens.

R. Verlie Hawkins
R.Verlie Hawkins,84,of Offutt Road,Clinton,Rt.2,died Thursday morning at Lake City Health Care Center
after an illness of about six months.Mr.Hawkins had broken his hip and then suffered a stroke.
An Anderson County native,he was a member of Island Ford Baptist Church.He and his wife,the former
Bertha Wilson,had been married 63 years.Mr.Hawkins was a retired coal miner.He had also worked for
Tennessee Valley Authority and was a carpenter and brick mason.He enjoyed working on automobiles
and fishing as past times.a son Roy Lee Hawkins,died in 1989. Survivors include his wife, a son and
daughter-in-law, Carl and Dorothy Hawkins of Clinton,daughters and sons-in-law, Lucille and Curtis Julian
of Harriman,Helen and Sam Rhinehart of Knoxville, Dorothy Abbot of Burlington,Wisc., 14 grandchildren,
10 great-grandchildren,sisters,Lavada Foust of Lake City,Juanita Humphrey of New York,and a brother,
Willie Hawkins of Lafollette.Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Cox Funeral Home Chapel
with the Rev.Tom Byrge and the Rev.Donnie Wallace officiating.Burial was in Island Ford Cemetery.
