Donald Wayne Giles, age 56, of Oak Ridge, formerly of LaFollette, died
Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was of the
Baptist faith. Mr. Giles was preceded in death by his parents, Tom Giles and
Beulah Giles Beeler; his brother, Tommy Giles; and his niece, Joanna Giles. He is
survived by his sister-in-law, Linda Giles; his niece, Dara and her husband,
the Rev. Tim Shelton; his nephew, Pvt. 3rd Class Mark Thomas Giles; and his
great-niece, Adeline "Addy" Grace Shelton, all of Clinton. A graveside service
is to have been held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at the Campbell
Memorial Gardens in LaFollette. The Rev. Tim Shelton was to officiate. Martin Wilson
Funeral Home in LaFollette is in charge of arrangements.

Earl Estes Goode Jr., 81, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at his home with his
family by his side. He had fought a courageous battle with cancer for four years
because he loved life and his family. Mr. Goode was born on May 19, 1923, in
Brinkley, Ark. He loved his country and was a veteran of World War II. He
served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Rim as a Sonar Specialist on a PC1129 naval
escort ship. His ship was sunk by a Japanese suicide boat on Jan. 31, 1945,
the same day on which, according to World War II historians, American prisoners
were freed from the Japanese prison camps. Mr. Goode graduated from the
University of Tennessee with a degree in Industrial Management, and began his
41-year career working at the Department of Energy facilities in Oak Ridge for Union
Carbide and Martin Marietta. He was initially employed at the Oak Ridge
National Laboratory and transferred after three years to the Y-12 Plant. The groups
which he supervised at Y-12 included Cash, Travel, Timekeeping, Facilities
Management, and Shipping and Receiving. Mr. Goode was a skilled photographer,
gardener and animal lover. He also took great pleasure in coaching church league
girls' basketball teams, and in supporting his wife, Pat, and her high school
varsity volleyball and track teams at Karns High School. He was also very
active in the foundation of the Oak Ridge Camp Fire Girls camps and programs. Mr.
Goode's parents, Earl Goode Sr. and Nancy Goode, are both deceased. He is
survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia Jarvis Goode of Oak Ridge; his
daughters, Judy Jones and husband, Steve, of Gatlinburg, and Jill Goode Freeman and
husband, Mark, of Lexington, Ky.; his grandson, Don Frederick and wife, Hilari;
his granddaughter, Lauren Freeman; and his great-grandson, Forrest Frederick.
Mr. Goode's body was cremated in accordance with his wishes. A memorial
service will be held on Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at the First Presbyterian Church,
1051 Oak Ridge Turnpike. Pastor Kerra Becker English will officiate. The family
will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday. The family asks that friends who
wish to make a contribution in lieu of flowers may send donations to the CALM
Hospitality House for Cancer Patients, 401 South Illinois Avenue, Oak Ridge,
TN 37830. Cremation Options, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

Marie Elena Gray, 63, of Clinton, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at the Methodist
Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church
in Oak Ridge. Mrs. Gray loved gardening and volunteering with the schools, and
had a great love for all animals. She helped at the Humane Society and loved
the University of Tennessee Vols. She was preceded in death by her mother,
Eleanor Stewart; her sister, Ellie Nodine; and her nephew, Sammy Nodine Jr. Mrs.
Gray's survivors include her husband, Tommy Gray Sr.; her daughter, Rose
DeMarcus and husband, Jason, of Andersonville; her son, Tommy Gray Jr. of Clinton;
and her grandchildren, Bradley, Kayla and Cody DeMarcus of Andersonville. She
is also survived by her father, John Kirk Stewart of Mabank, Texas; her
sisters, Betty Hawkins of Kemp, Texas, and Kathy Avirett of Euless, Texas; her
nieces, Tammy Cawthron of Mabank, Texas, and Debbie Oakes of Key West, Fla.; her
nephews, Thomas Hawkins of Kemp, Texas, and Michael Avirett of Fort Worth, Texas;
her great-nieces, Caitlyn Nodine of Boca Raton, Fla., Alexis Avirett of Fort
Worth, and Jessica Oakes of Gainesville; and her great-nephews, Wade Nodine of
Boca Raton, Jacob Hawkins of Kemp, and Jason Oakes of Key West. The family
would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Foust, Dr. Lands, Dr. Thompson, and
the staff on 4 West at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. The funeral
will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at St. Therese Catholic Church in
Clinton. Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery in LaFollette. The family
will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in
Clinton.

Thomas Harley Handley Sr., 88, of Raritan Township, N.J., died on Monday,
Dec. 6, 2004, in the Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Township. Born in St.
Clair, Ala., on Aug. 29, 1916, he was the son of Thomas M. and Vera Beason Handley.
Mr. Handley had previously lived in Oak Ridge since 1944, before moving to
Raritan Township in 2004. He was a retired chemist who worked for the U.S.
Department of Energy facilities in Oak Ridge. In addition to his parents, Mr.
Handley was preceded in death by his wife, the former Helen Francis Mullins, in
1999, and his daughter, Mary C. Handley of Oak Ridge, in 1994. He is survived by
his daughter, Pat Nevin of Branchburg Township, N.J.; his son, Thomas Harley
Handley Jr. of Claremont, Calif.; five grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren. A private funeral will be held at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main
Street, Flemington, N.J. The family will hold a private burial in Oak Ridge

Millard Curtis Hobbs, 66, of Clinton, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at St.
Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his parents,
Bradley and Alfie Hobbs, and a brother, Robert Hobbs. Mr. Hobbs is survived by his
wife, Adrienne Hobbs; his daughters, Jeneen and Shannon Siefke, both of
Homestead, Fla.; his son, Mark Hobbs and wife, Kristin, of Oak Ridge; his
grandchildren, Stewart and Spencer Siefke; his step-child, Chad Douthit; his sister,
Catherine Bruckschen and husband, Oscar, of Thornburg, Va.; and his brothers,
David Hobbs and wife, Murrel, and Jimmy Hobbs and wife, Molly, all of Bradenton,
Fla. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, in the chapel of
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. The Rev. Joe Bridges will officiate.
Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Anderson Memorial Gardens on Oliver Springs
Highway. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the
funeral home. The family requests that any memorials be made in the form of
donations to the American Cancer Society, 871 Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, TN 37909.
