Roger Eugene Brown, 53, of Harriman,
Jacob C. Haynes, 89, of Church Hill and formerly of Oliver Springs,
Kathleen Miller, 86, of Oak Ridge,
Marion Rita Przybyl, 89, of Oak Ridge,
Elise Garrett Boles, longtime Oak Ridge professional, passed away Tuesday,
Nov. 9, 2004, in Maryville. Born May 19, 1924, in Pickett County, she was the
daughter of Herman Milton and Mae Winningham Garrett. Mrs. Boles moved to Oak
Ridge in the early years with her family. She was a member of the West Village
Christian Church. Her special joy was her family. She was very proud of her son
and daughter and her grandchildren. When her great-grandchildren came along
she was ever-present in their lives. She was a very special mother, memaw and
nan. She always told the children "family first" and "love everyone." Mrs.
Boles was a member of the THA, Sierra Club, BPW and American Public Welfare
Association. After retiring, she worked as a volunteer at Methodist Medical Center
of Oak Ridge in the gift shop. She loved all of her co-workers and enjoyed her
trips to Atlanta to buy for the shop. She was known as having a green thumb
for growing plants and flowers. One of her favorite hobbies was crocheting. She
made sure that both of her children and her grandchildren and close special
loved ones had one of her beautiful crochet bedspreads, tablecloths, doilies and
other items she had made. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in
death by her cherished husband, Curtis M. Boles, her beloved great-granddaughter,
Cassie Troi Hall, and three brothers, Randolph, J.P., and Leslie Garrett.
Mrs. Boles is survived by her son, Curtis M. "Butch" Boles and his wife,
Roseanne, of Knoxville; her daughter, Brenda Hall and husband, Larry Faircloth, of
Greenback; four grandchildren, Tom Hall, Michelle Hall Duff, Sara Beth Smith and
Terre-Marie Boles; six great-grandchildren: Kimberly Hall, Carson Garrett
Hall, Jordan Gallagher, Derek Smith, Audrey Jones and Ericia Henegar; one
great-great-grandchild, Austin Jones; and a special son-in-law, Larry Hall and wife,
Shelly, of Oliver Springs. She is also survived by two sisters, Lillian
Bonafede of Jacksonville, Fla., and Veachel Weaver of Jamestown; one brother, Donald
Garrett of Muncie, Ind.; and by many nieces and nephews. A memorial service
was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge
Funeral Home with the Rev. Bryan Lakin officiating. A private interment
followed. The family received friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Roger Eugene Brown, 53, of Harriman, passed away Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at
his home. Born Nov. 23, 1950, in Anderson County, Mr. Brown was the son of John
Wayne Brown and Lillian Idell McKamey Brown. He has resided in Tennessee for
most of his life and was an excavating engineer who retired after a thirty-year
career. He was a member of Poplar Creek Baptist Church. In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Glenn Haney. Mr. Brown is
survived by his wife of 36 years, Helen June Haney Brown; his sons, Roger E.
Brown II of Oliver Springs and Tammy Denise Brown of Oak Ridge, Vernon Mack
Brown and wife, Samantha, of Harriman, Daryl Eddie Brown and fiancée, Tiffany L.
Vickery, both of Clinton; his grandchildren, Tyler Roze Brown, Aaron Joseph
Brown, and Lyllianne Izabella Brown; and his step-grandchildren, Alyssa
Beck-Brown and Alexis Beck-Brown. In addition, Mr. Brown is survived by his brother,
Gary Wade Brown and wife, Loraine, of Oliver Springs; his sister, Annelle
Tarrant and husband, Pitt, of Knoxville; his mother-in-law, Louise Haney of
Clinton; his brother-in-law, Roy Haney of Ohio; his sister-in-law, Betty Nelson and
husband, Sam, of Clinton; and his former daughter-in-law, Keila B. Brown of
Oliver Springs. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, in the
chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Robert Combs and
the Rev. Garvin Walls officiating. A graveside service will be at noon
Thursday, Nov. 18, at Anderson Memorial Gardens on Oliver Springs Highway. The family
will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Jacob C. Haynes, 89, of Church Hill and formerly of Oliver Springs, passed
away Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at Church Hill Health Care and Rehab Center. Mr.
Haynes was a member of New Mountain View Baptist Church in Oliver Springs.
While living in Church Hill he attended McPheeters Bend Baptist Church. He was
preceded in death by his first wife, Venus Seal Haynes, his parents, J.P. and Ell
a Mae Haynes, and two sisters and a brother, Dollie Corum, Zella Lambie and
Theodore Haynes. Mr. Haynes is survived by his wife, Gladys Ketron Haynes of
Church Hill; his daughter, Barbara Shoopman and husband, James, of Oliver
Springs; three grandchildren, Greg Shoopman and wife, Roberta, of Ovieda, Fla., Gina
Brown and husband, Jim, of Winter Springs, Fla., and Beth McCoy and husband,
Ken, of Oak Ridge; and six great-grandchildren, Sam and Andrew Shoopman, Amanda
and Jayden Brown, and Ryan and Kaitlin McCoy. He is also survived by his
stepchildren, Steve Ketron and wife, Alice, Karen Newland and husband, Steve, and
Phyllis Hensley and husband, Wayne, all of Church Hill, and Billy Ketron and
wife, Sandra, of Arizona, and by several great- and
great-great-stepgrandchildren. The funeral was held Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, in the chapel of Johnson
Funeral Home in Church Hill. The Rev. Joe Snapp and the Rev. Mark Roberts
officiated. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, at
Anderson Memorial Gardens on Oliver Springs Highway.
Kathleen Miller, 86, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at Saint
Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville. Weatherford Mortuary is handling arrangements,
which were incomplete at presstime.
Marion Rita Przybyl, 89, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at
Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of
arrangements, which were incomplete at presstime.
