John Franklin Bryant, age 92, went to be with his Lord on the evening of Oct.
29, at his home surrounded by his family. He was a member of Clinch River
Baptist Church for 56 years, Medford Fire Department and was a World War II
veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Martha Landrum Bryant;
four brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wilma
Tuttle Bryant, Lake City; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Debra Bryant,
Louisville, KY; son, Johnny Bryant, Clinton; grandchildren, Tom Bryant, Bobby Bryant,
Kimberly Bryant and husband, Tom Finch, Carrie and husband, Patrick Early,
Sarah Bryant, Amy and husband, Matt James, Andy Hillman and Chase Hillman;
great-grandchildren, Corey Snapp, Anthony Finch. Funeral services were Oct. 31 at
the Hatmaker Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Byrge and Rev. Larry Webster
officiating. Interment was in the Oak Ridge Memorial Park with full military honors by
the Campbell County Honor Guard. The family request that in lieu of flowers
donations can be made to the Clinch River Baptist Church, 407 Cane Creek Road,
Lake City, TN 37769.

Jewell Chapman, age 53 of LaFollette died Oct. 28 in the early morning at St.
Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a member of Long Hollow
Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Stanford and Dovie
Comer Stanford; half-sisters, Nell Jordan, Ruth Riggs, Lettie Davis and Mary
Williamson; half-brothers, Kenneth and Edward Stanford. She is survived by her
husband, Oscar (Boss) Chapman, son, Tony Chapman; sister, LaVon Petree,
half-sisters, Betty Heatherly, Stella Rogers, Agnes Gibson and Mary Hembree;
half-brothers, Jim Comer, Paul Comer and G.B. Comer. Funeral services were Oct. 30
at Cross Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Braden officiating. Interment was in
Bakers Forge Cemetery.

Rev. James E. Housley, age 66 of LaFollette died Oct. 31 at St. Mary's
Residential Hospice Center in Knoxville. He was a member of Community Baptist
Church, Griffin, GA and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by
his wife, Mae Housley; parents, Harley and Bell Housley; sisters, Mary Nelson,
Viretta Crisp, Geneva Edmond and Wilma Jean Housley. He is survived by his
wife, Arlene (Jane) Kennedy Housley of LaFollette; daughters, Lesa Albright of
Griffin, GA, Andrea Storm and husband, Carl and Gina Woods and husband, Garry
all of Williamson, GA, and Clara Dacko of Conyers, GA; step-children, Mark
Kennedy and wife, Mellissa of Columbus, OH, Judy Brewer and husband, Waburn of
Enola, AR, Diane Daugherty of St. Louis, MO, Kenneth Kennedy and wife, Angel of
LaFollette, Ron Kennedy of Dixon, IL, Omey Kennedy of Chatsworth, GA, and Dewey
Kennedy of Lake City; former wife, Delores Dickens of Griffin, GA; six
grandchildren, 24 step grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and nine step
great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty White and husband Leon, and Louise Green all of
LaFollette; brothers, Ernie Housley and wife, Reda of Fayetteville, GA, and
Burgin Housley and wife, Pat of Jacksboro; several nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends. Funeral services were Nov. 3 at Fundamental Missionary Baptist
Church with Rev. Larry Russell and Rev. Howard Goins officiating. Interment
was in the Well Springs Cemetery. Walters Funeral Home was in charge of the
arrangements.
Genevieve (Genny) Neal Leonhardt, age 76, died Oct. 30 after an extended
illness. She was a lifelong resident of Caryville. She graduated from Jacksboro
High school with honors. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Caryville
#415, and a member of the Caryville Methodist Church. She retired as an
administrative assistant for Campbell County Judge Jack Alexander and had the
distinction of being acting Judge for three months to fill Judge Alexander's
unexpired term due to illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years,
William Clifton Leonhardt, Jr.; son, William David Leonhardt; parents, Harold
Herbert and Emma Neal.
She is survived by her sisters, Virginia Lee and husband, Elmer, Barbara
Davis and husband, Richard; nieces, Beth Palmer, Cindy Bryant and Lori Byrne;
nephews, Scott Lee; great nieces, Peyton Palmer and Kiley Byrne; great nephews,
Tanner Lee, Preston, Parker, Pryce Palmer, Sean and Ryan Byrne. Funeral services
were Nov. 3 at the Cross Funeral Home with Rev. Lyle White officiating.
Interment was in the Campbell Memorial Gardens.

Ama Jean Lester, age 77 of Corbin, KY, formerly of Newcomb died Oct. 23,
2004. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Maria Lester. She is survived
by her husband, Robert Lester, Corbin, KY; sisters, Barbara avidson and
husband, Don, Columbus, OH, Betty Walker and husband, John Mason of OH; several
nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were Oct. 25 at the
Llewellyn Funeral Home with Rev. Don Davidson officiating. Interment was in the
Douglas Cemetery. Llewellyn Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Lula Katherine Lively, age 91 of Lake City died Oct. 31 at the Lake City
Health Care Center. She was born March 1, 1913 in Bonnieblue, VA to the late Jim
and Martha Jones Jarvis. She was a member of the Mountain Assembly Church of
God in Lake City. She was always willing to help others. She was preceded in
death by her parents and two daughters. She is survived by her sons, Billy Lively
and wife, Helen of Chicago, Terry Lively and wife, Judy of OH, Larry Lively
of Lake City; daughters, Maidlene Monore, Lake City, Linda Pittman and husband,
Jimmy, OH, Barbara Emery and husband, Bill, FLA, Sandra Jobe and husband,
Raymond, Lake City, Phoebe Rice and husband, Terry of Lake City, Judy Bloom, Lake
City; 32 grandchildren. Funeral services are today (Nov. 4) at 2 p.m. at the
Mountain Assembly Church of God in Lake City with Rev. James Bo Lively
officiating. The body will lie in state one hour before services. Interment will
follow in the Beech Grove Cemetery. Hatmaker Funeral Home was in charge of the
arrangements.
Margaret Lowe, age 68 of LaFollette Oct. 30 in the early morning in Kodak at
the home of her daughter, Teri Keene. She was of the Baptist faith and a
member of the Eagle Club. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, traveling, and spending
time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.She was
preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lowe; parents, Oscar and Ethel Heath
Monday; brother, James Monday. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law,
Teri Keener and husband, Ricky of Kodak , Timi Zuckerman and husband, Ronald of
Elyria, OH; grandchildren, Joey and Matt Zuckerman of OH and Taylor Keener of
Kodak ; brother, Pete Monday of OH; sisters, Madge Miller and Axie Hilger
both of LaFollette, Nell McCarty of MI; several nieces, nephews, relatives and
friends. Funeral Services were Nov. 1 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral
Home with Elder J.C. Monday and Rev. Randy Troutman officiating. Interment was in
Campbell Memorial Gardens. Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the
arrangements.
Billy Ray McCreary, age 65 of Jacksboro died Oct. 25 at Baptist West Medical
Center. He was retired from the US Army as a Sergeant First Class with over 20
years of service, having served with the Military Police training School. He
was preceded in death by his father, Robert J. McCreary; brother, Chester
"Buddy" McCreary. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Imogene Hicks McCreary
of Jacksboro; daughters and son in law, Sherry McCreary, Suzette and Joe
Russell, all of Knoxville; son and daughter in law, Tim and Sandra McCreary of
Auburn, GA; special grandson, J.T. Russell of Knoxville; mother, Evelyn McCreary of
LaFollette; brother and sister in law, Robert E. and Dorothy McCreary of
Sumter, SC; sister and brother in law Helen and R.L. Ayers of LaFollette; several
nieces and nephews. Graveside services were Oct. 28 at the Tennessee State
Veterans Cemetery. Full military honors were by the Volunteer State Veterans
Honor Guard. Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
James Delmon McNeeley, age 83 of LaFollette departed for his Heavenly home on
Oct. 29 at St. Mary's Hospital after a brief hospitalization. He was a member
of the West LaFollette Baptist Church and the longest surviving dialysis
patient (nine years) of the LaFollette Dialysis Center. He will be remembered by
friends and family as a man who always brought laughter with his sense of
humor, warmth for his easy-going style; and his desire to help others whenever he
could. He also served as a trustee for Bakers Forge Cemetery where he helped
raise funds for perpetual care. He served his country honorably during World War
II and later accomplished a nine year career with the Merchant Marines. After
returning to LaFollette, he operated the cafeteria at the Imperial Reading
Factory for 19 years. Raised in a family of 14 children, he was the last
surviving son of Bell and Hugh McNeeley, who preceded him to Heaven as well as
sisters, Myrtle Brown, Georgia Ballard, Ida Robbins, Estelle White, Edna Brown and
Nina Petry; brothers, Earl, Willard (Bill) and Edgbert McNeeley; wife, Cecil
McNeeley.
He is survived by Clara Raynor, a very special friend and devoted caretaker
for six years and her family; daughter, Karen Sue Cooper, Sana Anna, CA;
sisters, Odessa Bowman, Monroe, MI, Nadine Brooks, Maryville, Avanelle Wheeler,
Knoxville; special brother in law, Kenny Wheeler; brother in law, Edison Brown,
step-daughter, Helen Grant; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Oct. 31 at Cross Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dave
Gresser officiating. Interment was in the Campbell Memorial Gardens with Military
Honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard. Cross Funeral Home was in charge
of the arrangements.
Truman Meadors, age 80 of LaFollette died Oct. 31 at St. Mary's Health and
Rehab Center, LaFollette. He was a member of the LaFollette Church of God and
retired from Pinkerton Tobacco Company. He was preceded in death by his parents,
Bob and Hannah Jane (Walters) Meadors. He is survived by his wife, Pauline
Meadors, LaFollette; daughters, Elizabeth Jones, LaFollette and Sandra Cecila
Meadors, Logansport, IND; two grandchildren; brother in law, Charles Riggs of
Toledo, Oh and sisters in law, Juanita Dial, LaFollette and Georgia Nelson of
Kansas and a host of friends. Funeral services were Nov. 3 at Cross Chapel with
Rev. Norman Stalling officiating. Interment was in the Sunrise Cemetery. Cross
Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Johnnie Meredith, age 88 of Dadeville, AL, formerly of Campbell County , died
Oct. 31 at his home. He was retired from Uniroyal in Detroit, MI where he
worked as a tire inspector and union steward. He served in the U.S. Army during
World War II. Before he retired he taught boys Sunday school and coached boys
softball and baseball. He was a long time supporter of Billy Graham evangelism
ministries, and was a member of the Pepperell Baptist Church. He loved
hunting, fishing, and gardening and was known as "The Farmer on the Lake." He was
preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Jones Meredith; son, Richard Lee Meredith.
He is survived by his daughters, Beverlee Meredith, Franklin, NC, Barbara
Reiterman, Dadeville, AL; son, John A. Meredith and wife, Janet, Dadeville, AL;
brother, R.L. Meredith, LaFollette; six grandchildren and six great
grandchildren. Funeral services were Nov. 3 at Pepperel Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy
Rush officiating. Interment was in the Meredith Cemetery in Stinking Creek.

Patricia Jean Miller, age 62 of Fayetteville died Oct. 25. She is survived by
her sons, Monty Miller of Jacksboro, Marty and Mattie Miller of LaFollette;
grandson, Jacob Lloyd Miller; sisters, Marlene Harwell, Hampton, Janis and Don
Helton, Morristown; brother, Joe T. and Dorothy Robinson, Winchester, TN;
special friend, Charles Griffin, Fayetteville. Funeral services were Oct. 28 at
the Carl J. Mowell and Son Chapel with Rev. Ed Lynch officiating. Carl J. Mowell
and Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Lillie Moore, age 106 of the Bethlehem Community in LaFollette died Oct. 29
at St. Mary's Health and Rehabilitation Center in LaFollette. She was a member
of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Dewey Moore and daughter, Francis Butterini. She is survived by her daughters,
Shirley Jones and husband, Durl of LaFollette and Martha Jones of LaFollette;
several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren;
several other relatives and friends.Graveside services were Oct. 31 at the Goins
Cemetery with Rev. Bill Braden officiating. Walters Funeral Home was in charge of
the arrangements.
Sallie Mynatt Wilhoit, age 86 of LaFollette died Oct. 25 at the St. Mary's
Medical Center of Campbell County. She was of the Baptist Faith. She enjoyed
sewing, cooking and spending time with her family.She was preceded in death by
her husband, George Wilhoit: parents, James Henry and Surelda Nelson Mynatt;
sisters, Harriett Mynatt and Dorie Hill; brother, Tommy Mynatt.She is survived by
her sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Rebecca Wilhoit and Dean and Naomi
Wilhoit all of LaFollette; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Kenneth Paxton
of Shelbyville, IN; 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 3 great great
grandchildren; brothers, Virlin Mynatt of LaFollette, Paris Mynatt of
Georgetown, KY; sisters, Leona Hatmaker and Willie Ruth Bruce both of LaFollette,
Kathlene Mynatt of MI; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral
Services were Oct. 28 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Ovie
Bolton officiating. Interment was in Bakers Forge Cemetery. Martin Wilson Funeral
Home was in charge of the arrangements.
