Florence May Buford Bray, 88, of Clinton, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at
Briarcliff Health Care Center. Born Aug. 10, 1916 in Lexington, Miss., she was t
he daughter of H.B. "Cub" and Blanche Pepper Bray. One of three children, she
graduated from Mississippi State College for Women, where she studied to
become a school teacher. Her family moved to Tallulah, La., where she met Nathaniel
T. "Nat" Bray. They were married in 1938. Nat owned and operated Delta
Hardware store in Vicksburg, Miss., where Nathaniel T. "Tom" Bray Jr., their first
son, was born. They then moved to Marshall, Texas, where Buford Shields Bray,
their second son, was born. In 1946, the family moved to Oak Ridge, where Nat
Bray was offered a job with X-10. In 1952, Florence and Nat moved to Clinton
with their two sons and put down permanent roots, their family said. She was the
first special education teacher in the Anderson County School system and
served on the board at Daniel Arthur Rehabilitation Center in Oak Ridge for
several years. She was a Sunday school teacher at United Methodist Church and
devoted to the children she taught, her family said. She was servant to Jesus and
showed this in her everyday life, her family added. Not only did she have a
positive influence on her family, but she was a loving and kind person to scores
of children and adults through the years. According to her family, her interest
in photography was more than a hobby. She had the eye of an artist, and
chronicled the period from 1952 to 1993 with pictures of children, friends and
family and also the neighborhood, city and county. These pictures included nature,
landscapes, buildings, birds and flowers. She is survived by her sons, Buford
Bray and his wife, Karen, of Clinton, Nathaniel Bray and his wife, Kay, of
St. Paul, Minn.; her grandchildren, Natalie Bray, Chrestopher Thomas Bray and
William Bray; and her sister Alice Morris, of Kansas City, Mo. The funeral will
be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, at Memorial United Methodist Church in
Clinton with the Rev. Don Thomas and the Rev. David Hanes officiating.
A graveside service will be at Woodhaven Memorial Garden in Claxton following
the funeral. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday,
Oct. 19, at the church. The family requests that any memorials be in the form
of donations to Memorial United Methodist Church, 323 N. Main, Clinton, TN
37716. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of arrangements.

Eugenia Rule Nabers, of Morristown, formerly of Oak Ridge, died Saturday,
Oct. 16, 2004, in Morristown-Hamblen Hospital. She was a member of First United
Methodist Church in Morristown. She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry
T. Rule and Dora Lee Rule, and her sister, Mary Jo Trent. She is survived by
her husband of 52 years, Dr. Clarence L. "Buddy" Nabers; sons, Todd Nabers, of
Palm Beach, Fla., Buzz Nabers and wife, Trish, of Knoxville; her daughter,
Leigh Nabers, of Knoxville; and grandchidren, Trevor, Devin and Evanne Lowe,
Jerrin and Hanna Joyner, and Bella Nabers. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday,
Oct. 18, in the First United Methodist Church of Morristown with the Rev.
Darris Doyal officiating. A graveside service will be at Jarnigan Cemetery. The
family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to the First
United Methodist Church, 101 E. 1st North st., Morristown, TN 37814, or a charity
of choice. Stetzer Funeral Home of Morristown is in charge of arrangements.

Betty Weathersby, 83, of Oak Ridge, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at St. Mary's
Residential Hospice, after a long, courageous battle with cancer, her family
said. Betty was born in San Diego, Calif. and attended Chapman College in Los
Angeles and the University of California at Berkeley. After her marriage to
William E. Weathersby, they lived in Houma, La. for five years before making Oak
Ridge their home. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, her family
said. While caring for her family, she completed her education at the
University of Tennessee at Knoxville and pursued a teaching career as an elementary
art teacher in the Oak Ridge public schools for 18 years. She was active in the
Retired Teachers Association, the Arts Guild and the American Association of
University Women. She leaves behind countless friends that she considered
family. She is survived by her husband of 58 years; her two daughters, Karen
Kennedy and husband, Norman, of Chattanooga and Margaret Mazis and husband, Chris,
of Houston, Texas; and four grandsons. There will be no formal service, but
friends are invited to join the family from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18,
2004, at Weatherford Mortuary. The family requests that any memorials be in the
form of donations to St. Mary's Hospice, 7447 Andersonville Pike, Knoxville, TN
37938.

Sylvia Geneva White, 91, of Clinton, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004, at her
residence. She was a member of North Clinton Baptist Church and retired as a
clerk from Union Carbide Y-12 after 20 years of service. She was preceded in death
by her parents, Charles and Margaret Stocks and her son, Eugene Stocks. She
is survived by her daughters, Shirley Folds, Wilma Viles, Joyce Hughes and
Georgia Simonds and her husband, Tyrone, all of Clinton; her son, Jimmy and his
wife, Linda Smith, of Oak Ridge; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; six
great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be
at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, in the chapel at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home
in Clinton with the Rev. Joe Bridges officiating. A graveside service will be
at noon Sunday, Oct. 17, at Anderson Memorial Gardens in Clinton. The family
will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at the funeral
home.

Lillian Currier, 58, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center
of Oak Ridge. Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements,
which were incomplete at presstime.

Priscilla "Madge" Jett, 85, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at NHC HealthCare
in Farragut. Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, which
were incomplete at presstime.
