GRUEN, KATHLEEN "KAY" - 79, of Oak Ridge,
HUDDLESTON, MRS. EVELYN - age 85 of the Stinking Creek Community in
LaFollette,
MAYTON, PAULINE HARVEY - age 83 of Harriman,
GRUEN, KATHLEEN "KAY" - 79, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, October 7,2004, at
Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born May 6, 1925, in Harwich Essex,
England, she was the daughter of Cyril and Gladys Twilley. Mrs. Gruen came to the
United States in 1945 from England after her marriage to Lieutenant Gilbert
Joseph Gruen, Jr., of the United States Army Air Corp. During World War II she
worked for the UK Ministry of Defense in London. She appeared on the game show
"I've Got a Secret", identified as one of the first English war brides to
arrive in the United States at the conclusion of World War II. Mrs. Gruen was a
member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and assisted in planning the early St.
Mary's fall festivals. She also worked for many years as a hostess at Shoney's
restaurant, where she made many friends, meeting and greeting the public. She was
a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be remembered
fondly by many in the Oak Ridge community. She was a member of the Daughters of
the British Empire, and also enjoyed playing bridge with friends. In addition
to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother Peter Twilley. Mrs.
Gruen is survived by her husband, Gilbert Joseph Gruen, Jr., of Oak Ridge; her
daughter, Antoinette Linz of Reston, Virginia, and granddaughter Callie
Hartzell with husband Scott Hartzell and great grandson Jackson Hartzell of
Greensboro, North Carolina, her son, Gilbert Joseph Gruen and grandchildren Kathleen
and John Gruen all of PIano, Texas, and her daughter, Leslie Barbour and her
husband David Barbour and grandsons Ben and Grant Barbour of Oak Ridge, and
sister June Twilley of Llanfyllin, Wales, and brother Reverend Michael Twilley of
Ottawa, Canada and by many nieces and nephews. The family requests that any
memorial be in the form of donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis
Society, 4219 Hillsboro Rd., Ste. 306, Nashville, TN 37215. On Tuesday, October 12,
at St. Mary's Catholic Church, there will be a visitation from 4:00-5:00 p.m.,
followed by the Mass of Christian burial at 5:00 pm with Rev. Michael Woods
officiating. Many dear friends of the family will be hosting a reception
following the funeral at 6: 15 p.m. at Columbus Hall. A private graveside service
will be Wednesday, October 13 with Father John Appiah officiating. Arrangements

HUDDLESTON, MRS. EVELYN - age 85 of the Stinking Creek Community in
LaFollette, went home to be with her Lord and to join her dear husband, Everett, on
Thursday, October 7, 2004. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, friend and
companion whose greatest joy was having her family gathered round her. She was
a faithful, long time member of the Walnut Grove United Baptist Church. She
was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Everett Huddleston and by
their son, Jackie Henry Huddleston. She is survived by 8 daughters and
sons-in-law, Janice Powers and husband, Delmas, Agnes Seibers and husband, Carl, Millie
Garrison and husband, Bob, Eunice Reynolds, Nancy Green, Gail LeBlanc and
husband, Lanny, Norma Asher and husband, Ronnie, Rhonda Douglas and husband, Garry,
and by one son, Jay Huddleston and wife, Linda; 15 grandchildren and 13
great-grandchildren; sisters, Lillie Kidwell of LaFollette, Opal Carr of Ohio, Fay
Goodman of Florida; brothers, Hubert Kidwell and Everett Kidwell both of
LaFollette, Clyde Kidwell of Crossville, TN and Dewey Kidwell of Jefferson City;
several nieces, nephews, and a host of near and distant relatives and friends to
mourn her passing and to miss seeing her beautiful smile. Funeral services
Sunday 1 P.M. at the Walnut Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Delmas Bruce, Rev.
Lonnie Kennedy, and Rev. Robert Green officiating. Mrs. Huddleston will be moved
to the church one hour before services. Interment will follow at the Hall
Cemetery with her grandsons given the honor of serving as pallbearers. The family
will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Saturday at Walters Funeral Home.

MAYTON, PAULINE HARVEY - age 83 of Harriman, passed away Thursday October 7,
2004 at her home. Pauline was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67
years Elden H. Mayton. She was a member of the Walnut Hill Baptist Church where
she served faithfully for more than 50 years. A devoted wife, mother and
grandmother Pauline loved cooking and gathering her family together. Survivors:
daughters, Ruth Brea of Hollywood, Fl, Pat Pelfrey of Harriman, Sandra Whaley of
Harriman, Ann Harvey and husband Donnie of Harriman, Debbie Edmonds and
husband Alan of Harriman; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 2 great
great grandchildren. Funeral 2:00 PM Sunday at Kyker Funeral Home Chapel,
Harriman, Rev. Mike Winters officiating. Interment to follow in Roane Memorial
Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday at Kyker Funeral
