Julia Turman Moss, 87, formerly of Oak Ridge,
Sam Rose, 84, of Dyllis Community, Roane County,
Jean Marie Morrison,
Julia Turman Moss, 87, formerly of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004,
at her home in Lascassas. A resident of Oak Ridge for 53 years, Mrs. Moss was
a member of Highland View Church of Christ. She had also been a cub scout
leader, enjoyed quilting, gardening, caring for her children and traveling, her
family said.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Johnson and Bessie Wolfe
Turman; her husband, Oscar Dallas Moss; her daughter, Betty Forde; her son, Dennis
Moss; and her son-in-law, Robert H. Forde. Mrs. Moss is survived by her son,
Sam Moss and wife, Melissa, of Knoxville; her daughters, Margaret Mitchell and
husband, Kermit, of Sheffield, Ala., Sarah Moore and husband, W. Lenn, of
Murfreesboro, and Elna Lewis of Lascassas; her sisters, Doris Bartlett of
Harriman and Mary Swinford of Donelson; and by her 12 granddaughters, nine grandsons,
38 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. The funeral was
held Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home
with Graham McKay officiating. Burial was at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver

Sam Rose, 84, of Dyllis Community, Roane County, died Wednesday, Sept. 29,
2004, at his residence. Born Nov. 26, 1919, he was the son of John Lewis and
Sally May Rose. As a lifelong resident of this area, he owned and operated a saw
mill for 15 years and worked as a strip miner for 30 years. He was also an
active member of Dyllis Baptist Church and served as a deacon for many years. In
addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward
Rose, Bill Rose and George Rose; his half-brothers, Farwell Rose and Don Rose; and
his half-sister, Rosa Lee Riddle. Mr. Rose is survived by his wife of 64
years, Eva "Pete" Rose; his daughter, Brenda Louise Tedder and husband, Ted, of
Harriman; and his son, David Lee Rose and wife, Brenda Sue, of Oliver Springs.
He is also survived by four grandsons, David Tedder, Brad Tedder, Terry Tedder
and Kirk Rose; his five great-grandchildren, Ashley Tedder, Cody Tedder, Tyler
Tedder, Sam Tedder and Dillon Tedder; his three step-great-grandchildren,
Cameron Brooks, Jamie Childress and John Simms; his half-brothers, Oscar Rose and
Harvey Rose, both of Kingston; and his half-sisters, Marie Carpenter of
Harriman, Beatrice Bell of Kingston, and Shirley Lawson of Knoxville. A graveside
service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, at Dyllis Cemetery with the
Rev. Mack Smith and the Rev. Charlie Dean officiating. The family will receive
friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Friday at Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver
Springs. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to the
Dyllis Cemetery Fund, 530 Dyllis Road, Harriman, TN 37748.
Jean Marie Morrison, died Sept. 30, 2004, at St. Mary's Health System in
Knoxville. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of arrangements,
which were incomplete at presstime.
