Janet Foutch McBride, 66, of Oak Ridge,
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - James Stanley Warren, vice president of newspapers for
Morris Communications Co., died at his home in Jacksonville after a heart
attack. He was 51. Warren, who died Saturday, was responsible for Morris' Eastern
Community Newspaper Group, overseeing 10 daily newspapers in Arkansas, Florida,
Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma and Tennessee - including The Oak Ridger. "We've
lost a friend, a good newspaperman and a good manager," said Carl N. Cannon,
publisher of The Florida Times-Union and executive vice president of
newspapers for Morris. Before joining Morris in 2002, Warren, a Georgia native, spent
four years as president and CEO of the Alabama and South Georgia Strategic
Marketing Groups for Thomson Newspapers Inc., in Dothan, Ala. and Valdosta, Ga. He
worked for Thomson for 23 years in a variety of positions. Survivors include
Sue Ellen Rigsby Warren, his wife of 30 years; daughter Whitney Warren of Fort
Collins, Colo.; sons Sam and Jay Warren of Valdosta, Ga.; father James T.
Warren of Jacksonville; and three sisters, Jean Nagel of Byron, Ga.; Martha Ann
Thein of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Patsy Tullis of Valdosta, Ga. Services will be h
eld Wednesday in the Chapel of the Cobb Funeral Home in Moultrie, Ga. Burial
will follow in the Pebble City Baptist Church Cemetery.
Janet Foutch McBride, 66, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at her
home. Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of arrangements, which were incomplete
at presstime.
