Richard Lee Clark Sr., 70, of Kingston and formerly of Oak Ridge,
Ruth S. Mayes, 84, of Oak Ridge,
Frederick Campbell Peitzsch

Richard Lee Clark Sr., 70, of Kingston and formerly of Oak Ridge, died
Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004. Mr. Clark retired from Lockheed Martin Energy Systems, where
he worked as a lab analyst. He was also a mason and was involved in amateur
radio, amateur radio emergency services and served as a trained spotter for the
National Weather Service. He was a member of the Roane County Rescue Squad. He
was preceded in death by his father, Ora Pleasant Clark. Mr. Clark is survived
by his mother, Thelma Faye Clark; his former wife, Phyllis J. Clark; a son
and his wife, Richard Lee Jr. and Tiffany Clark; and four daughters and their
husbands, Judy and Dennis Ross of Terre Haute, Ind., Lou Ann and Dan Demirjian
of Hixson, and Claudia and Barry Brewer and Cheryl and Kenneth Hall, all of
Kingston. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, William Ross, Rachael Ross,
Kelly Johnson, Jeannie Brewer, Ashley Hall, Jennifer Hall, Kendra Hall,
Stephanie Clark, Madison Ross, Haleigh Clark and Malachi Hall; and by five
great-grandchildren, Hollie Demirjian, LeAnn Demirjian, Scott Demirjian, Sabastian
Demirjian and Aidan Demirjian. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday,
Aug. 6, 2004, at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute. The family will receive
friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, at Brown Funeral Home in Kingston.
The family will also receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, at
Thomas Funeral Home in Terre Haute.

Ruth S. Mayes, 84, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at her home.
Born Aug. 6, 1919, in Tazewell, she was the daughter of Dillard Smith and
Laura Townsley Smith. She is the widow of Glen Mayes and had lived in Oak Ridge
since 1945. She was a homemaker, and according to her family, a loving mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. In addition to
her husband and parents, Mrs. Mayes was preceded in death by a son, Harold
Mayes, seven brothers and sisters, and longtime close friends and neighbors of Oak
Ridge. She was a devout and faithful Christian displaying her Christianity to
all who knew her, her family said. She attended the First Assembly of God in
Oak Ridge. She had a special love for children, growing flowers and quilting.
Mrs. Mayes is survived by eight children, Arnold Mayes and wife, Carolyn,
Shelia McKinney, Larry Mayes, Nolen Mayes, and Darlis Andrews, all of Oak Ridge,
Ronald Mayes and wife, Linda, of Estil Springs, Lynn Mayes and wife, Jeanne, of
Knoxville, and Rita Crouch and husband, Butch, of Oliver Springs. She is also
survived by 19 grandchildren, Scott Mayes, Regina Mayes, Tracy Mayes, Ronnie
D. Mayes, David Mayes, Heather Foster, Lonnie Foster, Toby Foster, Chanda
Knight, Jeremy Crouch, Jared McKinney, Brittany McKinney, Blake McKinney, Wesley
McKinney, Cassie Mayes, Brittany Mayes, Sammy Mayes, April Mayes and Amber
Bailey; 10 great-grandchildren, Brandi Steelman, Brandon Steelman, Andrew Steelman,
Maranda Bailey, Skylar Clute, Haley Mayes, Derrick Mayes, Christian Amaya,
Jaykob Foster and Lindsay Mayes; and by a great-great-granddaughter, Toni
Steelman. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, in the chapel of Sharp
Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. J.E. Wiseman officiating. A
graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5 at Pleasant Point Cemetery
in Tazewell. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the
funeral home.

A memorial reception will be held for Frederick Campbell Peitzsch from 1 to 3
p.m. Sunday at Weatherford's Mortuary. Mr. Peitzsch died May 29, 2004, in
Connecticut, where he had been staying for health reasons. The family requests
that any memorials be in the form of donations to a charity of the donor's
choice.
