CARR, TANSY CURTIS - age 89, of LaFollette, departed this earth on Friday,
November 14, 2003 to be in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a
member of Fincastle United Methodist Church where he served as Trustee in the
early days of the church. He was a Campbell County native and attended 5
schools to achieve his education: Speedwell Academy, Flat Hollow, Bolinger, Well
Springs and LaFollette. He held in high regard his horse "Bill" which he rode
to school. He founded Carr Equipment Company, a dealership for GMC Trucks,
Massey Ferguson Tractors and New Holland Farm Machinery. He was a former member of
Campbell County
School Board of Education and owned and operated Campbell County
school buses. He enjoyed investing in land and real estate and loved spending
his winters in the warm sunshine of Naples, Florida, which he said, "is
better than a doctor bill." He was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie McCarty
Carr; father, Charlie Columbus Carr; brothers, Earl C. Carr and Delmar M.
Carr.
Survivors: wife, Jeanette Carr; daughters, Carolyn Fay Moneyhun and Rebeccca
Carr Kirklin; sons-in-law, Frank Moneyhun and Luke Kirklin. The family will
receive friends from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 16, 2003 with funeral
servicesto follow at Fincastle United Methodist Church, Rev. Kevin Cole and
Rev.Danny Hensley officiating. Pallbearers will be David Carr, Phillip Carr, Gene
Carr, Matthew Carr, Andy Carr, David Linkous, Aaron Carr, Jack McMahan, James
Allen Hatmaker and David Johnson. Burial and graveside service will be10:00 a.m.
Monday, November 17, 2003 at Fincastle Cemetery. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to The Memorial Fund at Fincastle United
Methodist Church. Arrangements by Cross Funeral Home.
