ELLIS, DORA ETHEL - age 93 of Robbins passed away Saturday, March 20, 2004 at
The Scott County Hospital. Born in Scott County, Tennessee October 17, 1910
she was the daughter of the late William Silas Raines and Hettie Susan Harvey
Raines. She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church and taught school for
several years before she devoted her life to raising her family. In addition
to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ezra Otto Ellis; son,
Gordon Waren Ellis; two daughters, Shirley Faye Ellis and Laura Sue Ellis;
sister, Lena Shepard; brothers, Otha, Lorian, Clarence, Major Ellis and a set of
infant twins. She is survived by four daughters, Marilyn Overstreet of
Nashville, Joyce Griffith and husband Jim, Barbara Clowers and husband Willard,
Doraleen Loyd and husband Tommy all of Robbins; grandchildren, Edwin D. Overstreet
and wife Diane of Dunlap, Tennessee, Regina Burchfield and husband Gary of
Elgin, Diane Layne and husband Roy, Donna Layne husband Dennis, Amanda Monroe,
all of Oneida, Larry Ellis and wife Janie of Huntsville, Danny Ellis and wife
Kathy of Robbins and Laura Sue Davis of Lancing, Tennessee; 19 great
grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. A special friend Jack Herman of Nashville.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 24, 2004 at 2:00 PM in
the chapel of Jones and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Guy Ainsworth and Rev.
Tracy Keeton officiating. Burial will follow in The Black Creek Cross Roads
Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 9 PM at The
Jones and Son Funeral Home. Jones & Son Funeral Home of Oneida is in charge
of the arrangements for Dora Ethel Ellis.
EVERETT, IMA JEAN - age 60, a resident of Harriman, passed away Monday, March
22, 2003 at Ft. Sanders Park West Medical Center of Knoxville. Mrs. Everett
was born March 13, 1944 in Harriman. She was a lifelong resident of this area.
Ima Jean was preceded in death: by her parents, Conley Loy and Bonnie Cooper
Loy; by a brother, H.L. Loy; and by a sister, Barbara Sellars. Mrs. Everett was
a member of Bible Baptist Church of Harriman. She was a thirty year employee
of Roane Hosiery. Survivors: Husband of 39 years, Albert Everett of Harriman;
son, Bryan Everett and wife Kristi of Oliver Springs; grandsons, Haden and
Landen Everett of Oliver Springs; sisters, Brenda McGhee and husband Wayne of
Oliver Springs, Carolyn Blank of Oliver Springs; brothers, Butch Loy, Gene Loy
and wife Ruth, Clifford Loy, J.D. Loy and wife Becky all of Harriman; special
nieces, April Daugherty of Harriman, Cindy Stout of Oliver Springs. She was also
survived by several nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 24, 2004 between the hours
of 6:30 and 8:30 pm. at Sharp Funeral Home with the funeral following in the
Sharp Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Barry MacDonald and Rev. Sam Loy
officiating. Burial and graveside services will be held Thursday, March 25, 2004 at 11:00
am. at Clax Gap Cemetery of Harriman. Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the
arrangements.
REEVES, JERRY - age 63, of Andersonville, passed away Monday, March 22, 2004
at Methodist Medical Center. He was a member of New Life Assembly of God in
Heiskell. Preceded in death by: parents, Melvin & Verda Strong Reeves &
daughter, Denise Reeves. Survivors: sisters, Helen Reeves of Clinton, Shirley Scruggs
of Clinton; sons, Jerry, Timothy, James & Joseph Reeves all from IN;
daughters, Jan Jewelski & Donna Reeves of IN; several nieces & nephews. The family will
receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm, Thursday, March 25, 2004 at Holley-Gamble
Funeral Home with funeral services following in the Chapel with Rev. Darlene Miller
& Rev. Robert Runkles. The interment will be 1:00 pm, Friday at Norris
Memorial Garden. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton in charge of all
arrangements.
SLOVER, REV. PAUL EDWARD - age 49, of Jacksboro passed away Monday, March 22,
2004 at his home. Funeral services will be 8 pm Wednesday, March 24 in the
Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Asbury Byrd officiating.
Interment will be 11 am Thursday in Terry Creek Cemetery. The family will receive
friends from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday night before funeral services. Donations to St.
Judes Children's Hospital in honor of Paul Slover will be appreciated. Martin
Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
WHITE, LUCINDA "LOU" - age 72, of Briceville, TN passed away Tuesday, March
23, 2004 at her residence. She was born June 15, 1931 in Campbell County, TN.
She was a loving mother and grandmother, who shared her home with her daughter
and grandchildren. She was a friend to all who knew her. Lou enjoyed
gardening, working with her flowers, helping others, and spending time with her
family. She is preceded in death by: husband, William L. White, Sr.; and her
stepdaughter, Joann Tyner. Survivors: son, William L. White, Jr. & wife, Dianne,
Stinking Creek, TN.; daughter, Ricky White Phillips, Briceville, TN;
grandchildren, Travis Aslinger, Knoxville, TN, Joni Aslinger, Briceville, TN, Nathaniel
White, Stinking Creek, TN. William L. While, III. Jacksonville, FL; stepdaughter,
Betty Sue Riggs & husband Bill, Tullahoma, TN; step- grandchildren, Mary
Christina Mangrum, Murfreesboro, TN, William E. Riggs, Jr., Murfreesboro, TN,
Teresa Henderson & husband Jim, Springfield, VA., Billy Ray Lawson, Cincinnati,
Ohio, Cindy Pierce, Florida. No services will be held. By donating her body to
science, she continues to give in death as she did in life. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made in her name to the American Lung Associations. Hatmaker
Funeral Home of Lake City in charge of arrangements.
