Everett (Trusum) Ayers, of Paducah, Kentucky, formerly of Campbell County
died March 6 in Michigan. He would have been 86 on March 9. Survivors include his
daughter, Shirley Lilly, Flint, Mi; sons, Wayne Ayers, Powell and Ronnie
Ayers, Davison, Mi; nine grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; many other
relatives and friends. Funeral services were March 9 at the Swartz Funeral Home in
Flint, Mi. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Grand, Blanc, Mi.
Swartz Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Alfred William Boyce III, age 78 of LaFollette died March 3 at his home. He
loved the outdoors and was a lifetime member of the VFW and an Army Veteran of
War World II.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Bannert; parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Alfred William Boyce II. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Boyce; sons
and daughters-in-law, Robert and Lee Ann Hall, Tim and Sherry Hall; daughter,
Connie Angus; daughter and son-in-law, Deb and Charlie Miracle all of
LaFollette; eight grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside
Services were March 6 at Jacksboro Cemetery with Rev. Hobert McCreary
officiating with full military honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard. Martin
Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Leon J. Chaniott, age 92 of LaFollette died March 1 at St. Mary's Medical
Center of Campbell County. She was a member of the LaFollette First Baptist
Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Fred Chaniott. Survivors include her
daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Hugh Gross, Etowah, NC, Charlene and David
Ring, Kingsport; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers,
Stanley Jackson and "C" Jackson, both of Coalfield; sisters-in-law, Betty
Broyles, Nell and Sarah Chaniott; many nieces and nephews living across the country.
She was lovingly cared for by Rita Carroll. Funeral services were March 4 at
Cross Chapel with Rev. Jack Baker officiating. Interment was in Estes Cemetery.
Cross Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Blanche Collins, age 84, of Caryville died Feb. 19 at her son's residence.
She was of the Baptist faith. She was a loving mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother and sister.
Preceded in death by her husband, Levi Collins; daughter, Barbara Collins;
son, David Collins; parents, William and Vada Chester; sister, Rosie Mae Monday;
brother, Dan Cheser. Survivors include her daughters, Bonnie Collins Slover,
Caryville and Elizabeth Pierce, Pioneer; sons, Harold Collins, Caryville,
Willard Collins, Caryville, Leonard Collins, Jacksboro; grandchildren, Harold
Dewayne Collins, Caryville, Kathy Stevenson, Lake City, B.J. Burton, Lake City,
Harland Ray Collins, Caryville, Devin Foster, Nashville, Marlena Collins,
Knoxville, Diane Slover, Knoxville, Devina Collins, Knoxville, Jeffrey Slover, Lake
City, Misty Seiber, Clinton; great-grandchildren, Summer Foster, Chelsey
Stevenson, Tiffany Burton, Autumn Hranek, Shyann Sieber; sisters and brothers,
Frances Price, Clinton, Betty Brown, Indiana, Cornetta Pickett, Indiana, Hallie
Smith, Indiana, Edith Miller, Clinton, UT Chesner, Florida and Tom Chesner,
Powell; very close friend and caregiver, Theresa Stone, Caryville.
Funeral services were Feb. 22 at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with Rev.
David Goins officiating. Interment was in the New Hope Cemetery. Holley-Gamble
Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Thomas Earl Doneworth, age 68 of Jacksboro died March 3 at the U.T. Medical
Center in Knoxville. He was a member of the Jacksboro First Baptist Church,
Lions Club, VFW and Lifetime member of the DAV. He retired from the military
after 20 years of service. He served 17 years in the Navy on destroyers and
submarines and three years as an Army Military Policeman having served two years in
Korea and one year in Japan. His tour duties include San Diego, CA and New
London, CT and the last 14 years in Charleston, SC Naval Station. As a Civilian
he was employed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH as a cook
supervisor at the base hospital for 22 years. Preceded in death by his parents,
Harry and Leona Long Doneworth; four brothers and two sisters. Survivors include
his wife, Barbara Doneworth; son, Jeffery Doneworth both of Jacksboro;
daughters, Darla and Jackie Doneworth; grandson, Jordan Thomas Doneworth all of
LaFollette; sister, Mary Miller of Covington, KY; special Navy buddy, Vick Briscoe
of Lincoln, MT; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and
friends.
Funeral Services were March 7 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home
with Rev. Glen Petree officiating. Interment was in the Veteran's Cemetery in
Knoxville. Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Daniel L. "Don" Hunley, age 64 of Jacksboro died at the St. Mary's Medical
Center of Campbell County on March 3. He was a member of the Middlesboro Highway
Church of God. Preceded in death by his parents: Fred and Pearl Lawson
Hunley. Survivors include his Fiancée, Clara Kennedy of Jacksboro; brothers: William
"Curt" Hunley of LaFollette, Carl Hunley of Dayton, OH, Clarence Hunley of
KY; sister: Ana Mae; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives
and friends. No Funeral Services are planned at this time. Martin Wilson Funeral
Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Werner Herman Hunley, age 56 of Caryville died March 8 at the Fort Sanders
NHC in Knoxville. He was a member of the Bear Wallow Baptist Church. Mr. Hunley
was an Army Veteran having served two tour in Vietnam. He was a member of
101st Airborne and Americal Division and was a recipient of the Purple Heart- the
Bronze Star, the Silver Star and Soldiers Metal. Survivors include his wife,
Myra Hunley of Knoxville; son, Michael Hunley of Rogers, AK; daughter,
Bridgette Hunley of Murfreesboro; parents, F.A. and Gertrude Haungs Hunley of
Caryville; sisters, Maria Browning of Powell, Linda Vincent of Gulfport, MS, Sandy
Bridges of Cartersville, GA; 6 nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives
and friends. Funeral Services were March 9 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson
Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Duncan and Rev. Jobby Byrge officiating. Interment
was in Campbell Memorial Gardens. Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of
the arrangements.
M/Sgt. Floyd Monday, age 85 of Speedwell died March 1 at LaFollette Hospital.
He was born October 2, 1918 in Claiborne County. He was a member of the
Speedwell Academy Baptist Church. He served his country in the Air Force, during
World War II and retired from the Air Force Reserve. He loved to hunt and fish.
He was an avid member of the Republican Party. Preceded in death by his
parents, Walter and Hattie Ausmus Monday; brother, Kermit Monday. Survivors include
his wife, Anna Lee Holloway Monday; sons, Joseph Carter Lowe, II, Speedwell
and Harry Martin Lowe, Well Springs; daughters, Dorothy Florenda Howard,
Speedwell and Deborah Sue Tackett, Well Springs; sister, Juanita Shelton,
Chattanooga; 12 grandchildren. Funeral services were March 4 at Reece Valley Chapel with
Rev. Gary Mundy and Rev. James Branscomb officiating. Music was by the Glory
Road Boys, Mike Ramsey and Amy Jo Childress. Interment was in the Beeler
Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joseph Lowe III, Taylor Lowe, Alex Lowe, Mike Monday,
Jerry Monday, and Glenn Monday. Military rites by the Military Funeral Honor
Guard. Reece Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Raymond Pack age 78 of LaFollette died March 2, 2004, at St. Mary's Medical
Center of Campbell County. He was a member of Cedar Ridge Methodist Church in
Florida and a Navy Veteran of WWII. Survivors include his sons, Johnny Pack of
Ft. Augustine, FL, Kenneth Pack of Bethesda, MD; daughter, Caroline Pack;
brothers, Tom D. Pack, Jr. of Knoxville, Arlie Pack of Arizona, Charles Pack of
Michigan, and Forrest Pack of Kentucky; sister, Mary Aileen Cassell of
Knoxville; eight grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were March 8 at East TN Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville with
Rev. Mack Turner officiating. Walters Funeral Home was in charge of the
arrangements.
Hugh L. Smith, Jr., age 78 of Clinton died March 2 at NHC Health Care in Oak
Ridge. He was born July 6, 1925 in Campbell County. He was a loving husband,
father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a member of the Second Baptist
Church. He was of the U.S. Army having served in World War II. Preceded in
death by his parents, Hugh L. Smith, Sr. and Julie Murray Smith; wife, Dorothy
Smith, brothers, Olof and John D. Smith; sisters, Ocie Wood and Leona Duncan.
Survivors include his son, Dennis and wife, Barbara Smith, Plainsfield, Ill;
daughter, Debbie and husband, Ron Lane of Lebanon; brother, Conda "Dawton" ,
Clinton; sisters, Ruby, Almeda and Reva Smith, Clinton; three grandchildren and
three great granddaughters; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were March 4 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with Rev. Jim
McPherson and Rev. Mike Thompson officiating. Interment was in the Woodhaven
Memorial Garden. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
James Robert Weaver Sr., age 86 of Jellico died March 3 at Beech Tree Manor
Nursing Home. Survivors include his daughter, Jean Morris, Germany; sons, David
Weaver, Greenville, Johnny and J.R. Weaver, Jellico; sister, Pearl Cooper;
brothers, J.P. Weaver and Arvil Weaver; five grandchildren and 11 great
grandchildren. Funeral services were March 5 at the Llewellyn Funeral Home with Rev.
Duran Dixon officiating. Interment was in the Douglas Cemetery. Llewellyn
Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Cordie Easter Wilson, age 81 of LaFollette died March 4 at the St. Mary's
Medical Center of Knoxville. She was a member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church
in Atlanta, GA. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Wilson; daughter,
Elsie S. Carroll; grandson, Robert Lee Plemons; parents, Rev. S. V. and Vedie
Luttrell Wilson; brothers, Clayton, Ernest and Ullys Wilson; sisters, Edith
Brantley and Carzenna Myers ;Son-in-law, Taylor Ray Carroll. Survivors include
her son, Robert Ellis Wilson; daughters, Jewell Malicoat both of LaFollette,
Glenna Plemons of Jackson, GA; 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren;
sisters, Izora Shoffiner of Laporte, IN, Rozetta Ballard of LaFollette; several
nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were March 7 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home
with Rev. Timmy Plemons, Rev. Kenneth Plemons, and Rev. Paul Hembree officiating.
Interment was in Stokes' Cemetery. Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge
of the arrangements.
