Ruby Idella Parker Alley died Jan. 4 at Glenwood Rehabilitation Center,
Florence. She was born Feb. 1, 1902 at Balkan, Ky, the eldest daughter of William
Henry Harrison Parker and Drucilla Boatright Parker. She was baptized into the
Presbyterian faith, but later joined the Leatherwood Baptist Church at
Leatherwood, Ky, where she was an active member. She was a member of D.A.R. and also
joined with her late husband Ben Alley as sponsor and hostess for numerous
multi-state family reunions at their home in Cumberland Gap, Tn. After moving to
LaFollette Court Assisted Living in LaFollette, she attended church services,
Bible studies and singings regularly held in the chapel in LaFollette Court.
Preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Drucilla Parker; husband, Benjamin
Earl Alley; son, Harold Dean Alley; sister, Octavia Parker Alley, Eva Parker
Golden, Diane Sturdivant Stuart, Marie Sturdivant White, Janet Sturdivant
McGhee; brother, Steve Sturdivant and Benny Sturdivant. Survivors include her son
and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Jewett Alley, Wake Forest, N.C.; daughters and
sons-in-law, Pamela and Greg Miller, LaFollette and Patty and Jay Klos,
Florence, Ala; brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Aileen Sturdivant, Waterford,
Mi, Jimmy and June Sturdivant, Hulen, Ky; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorcas
and Leland Dishman, Pineville, Ky, Juanita and Joe Grey, Lexington, Ky, Roberta
Martin, Winchester, Ky; grandsons, Michael Alley, Wake Forest, NC , Jeffrey
and wife, Jamie Alley, Franklin, NC, Keith and wife, Lynette Miller, Knoxville;
granddaughters, Melissa and husband, Glen McGraft, Mesa, Az, Barksdale Klos,
Florence, Al; great-grandsons, Lance Alley, Franklin, NC and Ryan McGraft,
Mesa, Az. Funeral services were at Creech's Funeral Home with Rev. Don Reynolds
officiating. Interment was in Greenhills Memorial Gardens.

Lorene Carmony, age 80, died Jan. 4 at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville. She was
a follower of the Baptist Faith and attended Elm Grove Baptist Church. She
was born April 26, 1923 to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Taylor of Rose Hill, Va. She had
three brothers and seven sisters. Survivors include her sister, Verla Hedrick,
Gibson Station, Va; daughter, Annette Stegall, Powell Valley Marina; son,
James B. Stringer, Shelby Township, Mi; five grandchildren, six great
grandchildren and many dear friends to mourn her passing. Memorial services were Jan. 6
with Rev. H.Lee Ray officiating. Cremation Options, Inc. was in charge of the
arrangements.
John W. Dreihs, age 77, of Jacksboro died Jan. 11 at St. Mary's Medical
Center Knoxville. He attended Cedar Hill Baptist Church and was a member of
Norwood-Winton Lodge F & AM #576 of Norwood, Oh. He was a loving husband, father,
grandfather, and great grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and
friends. He was a very hard worker and was a very honest man. He enjoyed
working with wood and animals very much. Preceded in death by his parents, John
Darby and Norma Diebold Dreihs. Survivors include his wife, Helen Dreihs,
Jacksboro; son, John Anthony Dreihs, Green Castle, In; daughters, Kathy Grimm and
Karol Martin, both of Jacksboro, Karen Stevenson, Indianapolis, In and Krissy
Heeg, Cincinatti, Oh; 13 grandchildren , 13 great grandchildren and a host of
other relatives, friends and great neighbors. Funeral services were Jan. 13 at
Cedar Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Arnold and Father Joe Campbell
officiating. In lieu of flowers make donations to First Presbyterian Church The
Homeless Shelter Fund. Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the
arrangements.
Erma Ruth Hackler Fitzpatrick, age 71, of Jellico died Jan. 10 at Beech Tree
Manor.
Preceded in death by her husband, Roy Fitzpatrick; parents, George and
Rosetta Mae Hackler. Survivors include her brothers, George Hackler, Jellico, Sam
Hackler, LaFollette, James Hackler, Jellico; sisters, Maxine Fitzpatrick, West
Point, Tn, Geneva Miller, Corbin, Ky, Louise Sherrell, Ringgold, Ga, Nannie
Cummins, Toledo, Oh, Margie Lowe, Elk Valley, Alene Kidd, Jellico, Lorene
Delaney, Harrison, Tn, Janey Delaney, Jellico; several nieces, nephews, great nieces,
great nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Jan. 12 in
the Sanctuary of the Mountain Assembly Church of God in Jellico with Rev.
Johnny Douglas and Rev. Ray Landes officiating. Interment was in the Hackler
Cemetery. Harp Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mittie Griffin, age 86, of Jellico died Jan. 8 at Beech Tree Manor. Survivors
include her sons, Billy Griffin, Jellico, Bobby Griffin, Connersville, In,
Ray Griffin, Lexington, Ky; sister, Ruby Whitehead, Shelbyville, IN; brothers,
Lloyd Whitehead, Sandusky, Oh and Bill Whitehead, Manchester, Ky; 10
grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services were Jan. 10 at the Llewellyn
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leonard Siler officiating. Interment was in the
Paces Creek Cemetery.

James Thomas Johnson, age 47, of Speedwell died Jan. 9 at the Claiborne
County Hospital. He was a member of the Clear Branch Baptist Church. Preceded in
death by his parents, Bulie and Sylvia Wilson Johnson. Survivors include
ex-wife, Penny Johnson, LaFollette; son and daughter-in-law, Brock and Katherine
Johnson, Pioneer; daughters, Michelle and Rebecca Johnson, LaFollette,
grandchildren, Kaylee Johnson, Pioneer, Dillion Johnson and Dalton Massey, LaFollette;
brother, David Johnson; sisters, Ella Mae Hickman and Alice Johnson, all of
LaFollette; several nieces and nephews and host of other friends and relatives.
Funeral services were Jan. 12 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with
Rev. Hansford Bolton officiating.
Interment was in Davis Cemetery. Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of
the arrangements.
Janice Lemon, age 73, died Jan. 5 at St. Mary's Medical Center after a
lifelong career of nursing. Survivors include her husband, Howard Lemon; sister,
Barbara Foy; children, James Kimbell, Nancy Morin, Edwin and wife Mildred
Kimbell, Daryl and wife Gloria Kimbell, Marion Kimbell, Deborah and husband, Dave
Charbonneau, Juli Stewart, Milly Estep, Allen and wife Shirley Kimbell, Merry Ann
Kimbell, Barbara Kimbell, Jeffrey Desotell; many grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. Memorial services were held at the home of her son and
daughter-in-law in Jacksboro.
At her request her body was donated to the University of Tennessee for
educational purposes.
Tim Poston, age 42, of Speedwell died Jan. 8 at Middlesboro ARH. He was born
Aug. 12, 1961 in Campbell County. He was of the Baptist faith and a lifelong
resident of the area. He was a truck driver and a logger. Preceded in death by
his grandparents, Claude and Azilee Young, Joe E. and Tishie Poston;
father-in-law, C.M. Price.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Diane Price Poston; son, Timothy Andrew
James Poston; daughter, Courtney Danielle Poston, all of Speedwell; parents,
J.D. and Anna Lou Young Poston; brother, Scott and wife Allyson Poston; sisters
and brothers-in-law, Sharon and John McCullem, Donna and Greg Jeffers, all of
LaFollette; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Jeff Jones, Speedwell.
Funeral services were Jan. 11 at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Bonner
officiating. Music by Kris Wilburn and family. Interment was in Carr Cemetery.

Patty (Pat) Riggs, age 49, of LaFollette died Jan. 9 at St. Mary's Medical
Center of Campbell County. She was a member of the Stanfield Church of God.
Preceded in death by her father, Earnest Riggs, sisters, Eunice Shuttleworth and
Helen Wells; brother, Glen Riggs; grandmothers, Nora Woods and Etta Morgan.
Survivors include her mother, Mary Iva Riggs Spitzer, LaFollette; sisters,
ReEttia Bowlin, Alta Ayers, Melissa Muse and Tonda Weldon, all of LaFollette;
brothers, Darrell Riggs, LaFollette, Clifford Riggs and Ronnie Riggs, both of
Washington State; stepsisters, Betty, Ja Anna, Rhonda and Jill; several nieces,
nephews, other friends and relatives.
Funeral services were Jan. 12 at Walters Chapel with Rev. Pat Ayers and Rev.
Delmus Bruce officiating. Interment was in Bakers Forge Cemetery. Walters
Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Jerry Clinton Sharp, born May 11, 1938 in Norton, Va died Dec. 29 at him home
in Pearl River, Louisiana. He was a member of First United Methodist Church
in Pearl River, a member of W.D. White Lodge #408 for 25 years and 32 degree
Mason. He was an Army veteran and retired from Chevron Oil Company. Survivors
include his wife, Gayle K. Sharp; daughter, Angela, Denver; son, Thomas, Pearl
River; grandchildren, Aaron and Danielle; great-grandchildren, Damyen, Thomas
and Cecelia; mother, Helen W.Sharp; sister, Shirley Stanberry, Powell. Memorial
services were held Jan. 2 at First United Methodist Church in Slidell,
Louisiana. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care, 770 Gause Blvd., Suite C,
Slidell, LA 70458 or First United Methodist Church, 433 Erlanger Ave.,
Slidell, LA 70458.
John H. "Bud" Smith, age 88 of Powell, died Jan. 8 at St. Mary's Hospice in
Halls. He was a faithful member of Sharon Baptist Church. Preceded in death by
his parents, Alex and Reba Hayes Smith; sister, Doris Thompson; Ora Carr and
Helen Hatmaker.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Marlow Smith; son, George Hayes
and wife Cassie Smith, LaFollette; grandson, Eddie and wife Carla Smith,
Powell; granddaughter, Peggy and husband, David Hunley, Caryville; great
grandchildren, Kaitlyn and James David; brother, George A. Smith, LaFollette; sister,
Jeanette Carr, LaFollette, Isabel Goins, Mi and Shirley Mynatt, Knoxville;
several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Jan. 9 at Sharon Baptist Church
with Pastor Jim Robertson and Pastor Dennis Blazer officiating. Interment was
in Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Sharon Baptist
Church Building Fund.

James Edward Stanford, age 82, of Jacksboro died Jan.11 at Methodist Medical
Center in Oak Ridge. He was of the Baptist Faith and U.S. Army Veteran of
WWII.
Preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Anna Stanford; brothers, Elmer and
Lloyd Stanford; sister, Stella Burnette. Survivors include his sister, Zora
Smiddy, LaFollette; several nieces, nephews, and host of friends. Funeral
services were Jan. 13 at Cross Chapel with Rev. David Hicks officiating. Interment
was in Woodlawn Cemetery with Military Honors by the Campbell County Honor
Guard. Cross Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.Irene "Rainey"
Lobertini Stratton Irene "Rainey" Lobertini Stratton, age 93, of LaFollette died Jan.
10 at St. Mary's Health and Rehabilitation Center of Campbell County. She was
the eldest member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and was the
treasurer of the Catholic Women's Group for 40 years. Her family, as Italian
immigrants, helped to build the first Catholic Church in LaFollette. Preceded in
death by her husband, James L. Stratton; parents, Giacinto Lobertini and
Leonilda Ramello Lobertini; brothers, Frank, Leo, and Lew Lobertini; sisters,
Caroline Lobertini, Margaret Guy and Marie Burns.
Survivors include her daughter, Martha Ann Laxton and husband, Gary; son,
James W. Stratton and wife Jean; grandchildren, Steve Stratton and wife, Becky,
Barry Stratton and wife, Sabrina, Lee Ann Sharp and husband, Keith, Scott
Laxton and wife, Tina, Amy Rutherford and husband, Richard; great-grandchildren,
Stephanie Stratton, Leah and Courtney Stratton, Sarah and Seth Sharp, Matthew
and Rainey Laxton, Tanner, Nolan and Grace Rutherford; several nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends. The family would like to extend special thanks to
St. Mary's Health and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care given to our
loved one over the last six years. Funeral Mass was Jan. 12 at Our Lady of
Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Joe Campbell and Father Greg Neuzil
officiating. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family requests that in
lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Catholic Women's Group of Our Lady of
Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Pearl Wilson Sharp, age 89, of LaFollette died Jan. 8 at St. Mary's Nursing
Home. She was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by her husband, George
Luther Sharp; son, Emmitt Sharp; daughter, Thelma Sharp. Survivors include her
sons, Carlos Pete Sharp, Ralph Sharp, Denny Sharp, all of LaFollette;
daughters, Edna Johnson, Nadine Miller and Monnie Crutchfield, all of LaFollette; 21
grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services were
Jan. 10 at Cross Chapel with Rev. Don Reynolds and Rev. Larry Watts officiating.
Interment was in Bakers Forge Cemetery. Cross Funeral Home was in charge of
the arrangements.
Arthur Glenn Torreance, age 81, of LaFollette died Jan. 9 at St. Mary Medical
Center of Campbell County. He was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by
his parents, John and Mary Cullen Torreance. Survivors include his wife,
Frances Torreance, LaFollette; step-children, Larry Demeza, Cleveland, Oh, Sharon
Johnson, Robert Demeza, both of LaFollette, Henry Demeza, Cleveland, Oh; 12
grandchildren and two great grandchildren; sister, Lula Mae Torreance, Sarasota,
Fl; one niece and host of other relatives and friends. No Funeral services
were planned. Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mark Lynn Underwood, age 39, of LaFollette died Jan. 5 at St. Mary's Medical
Center of Campbell County. He was a member of Saukvillage Baptist Church of
Saukvillage, Ill. He was a loving husband, father, and son who enjoyed spending
time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing and was loved by all
who knew him.
Preceded in death by his father, N.E. Underwood; grandmother, Effie Parker,
Della Underwood. Survivors include his wife, Tammy Underwood, LaFollette; son,
Brett Underwood, LaFollette; daughter, Courtney Underwood, LaFollette; mother,
Dorothy Underwood, LaFollette; sister, Pam Shoemaker, Il; brother, Benny
Bailey, Tx; father and mother-in-law, Leon and Betty White; special sister-in-law,
Diane Meredith, LaFollette; several loving nieces, nephews and a host of
other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Jan. 8 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with
Rev. Don Reynolds, Rev. Charles Sparks and Rev. Larry Watts officiating.
Interment was in the Well Springs Cemetery. Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in
charge of the arrangements.
