KITTS, ROBERT A. "BOB" - of Murfreesboro, formerly of LaFollette, passed away
Monday, October 13, 2003 at the Vanderbilt University Hospital. Arrangements
are incomplete and will be announced later by Martin Wilson Funeral Home.
KNIGHT, ETHEL MARIE - of Louisville, Tennessee, died Saturday, October 11,
2003, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Mrs. Knight worked as a
Genetic Research Technician at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Walter J. Knight. She is survived by her sons and
daughters-in-law, Walter J., II and Teresa H. Knight and Kim B. and Charme P.
Knight; grandchildren, Kalie Prater and Ransom Knight. Family and friends will
meet at Thursday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for a 2:00 p.m. Graveside
Service with Dr. Larry Fields officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00
to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.
RUSSELL, EMMA JEAN - age 68, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away
Sunday, October 12, 2003, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in
Knoxville. Emma Jean was born November 23, 1934, in Oliver Springs. She was a lifelong
resident of Oliver Springs, and a member of Beech Park Baptist Church, where
she was very active with the senior saints. Mrs. Russell was preceded in death
by her parents, Lawrence E. Davis and Vertie Qualls Davis, and by a sister,
Helen Stacy. Survivors: husband of 50 years, R.B. Russell of Oliver Springs;
daughters, Tammie Barger and husband, Dave of Harriman, Gretchen Byrge and
husband, Danny of Oliver Springs; grandchildren, Brent Barger, Brooke Barger, and
Jonathan Byrge; brothers, Jack Davis and wife, Joyce of South Lebanon, Ohio,
Allen Davis and wife, Georgia of Oak Ridge, Joe Davis of Oak Ridge, David Davis
of Dickson, Tenn.; sister, Sherrill Jackson and husband, Jackie of Coalfield,
Brad and Chris Davis were considered as grandchildren by Mrs. Russell. She is
also survived by several nieces and nephews, and other extended family members.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 15, 2003, at 8:00 p.m. in
the Chapel of Sharp Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Smith officiating. The family
will receive friends Wednesday, between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Sharp
Funeral Home. Burial and graveside services will be held Thursday, October
16, at 11:00 a.m. at Estes Cemetery of Coalfield. Sharp Funeral Home, is in
charge of the arrangements.
SMITH, MRS. KAYE F. - age 63, of Andersonville, born October 31, 1939, went
to be with the Lord 11:05 a.m. Sunday, October 12, 2003, at St. Mary's Medical
Center, after fighting an illness. Her life and sweet smile touched many
people. She loved her church and family. She was a faithful and dedicated member of
Macedonia Baptist Church, and was an employee of Horace Maynard Middle
School. Survivors: husband of 38 years, Herman Smith of Andersonville; daughter and
son-in-law, Pamela D. and Mark Smith of Maynardville; son, Timothy R. Kitts of
Andersonville; step children, Larry Smith and wife, Shairon, Kathy Crowe and
husband, Mac, Donnie Smith and wife, Teresa. Loving grandchildren: Chelsey and
Colton Smith, Tosha Wilkerson, Nathan Smith, Sherie Smith, Jessica Crowe,
Matthew, Courtney, Cameron and Reagon Smith; aunt, Nell Hamilton; uncle, Johnie
Lay, both of Maynardville; several cousins and a host of friends. Funeral
services 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Cooke Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Joe McCoy officiating.
Interment will be at New Loyston Memorial Gardens following a short memorial
service, 10 a.m. Wednesday, Cooke Mortuary Chapel. Pallbearers: Randall Williams,
Rick Tibbs, Tony Lester, Scotty Wilson, Larry Lay, E. J. Lay. Honorary
Pallbearers: Ed Stokes and Jimmy Carter. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m.
Tuesday, Cooke Mortuary, Maynardville.
