Jessie Mae "Bobbie" Monroe, 61, of Claxton, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, at
St. Mary's Health System in Knoxville.
Born Aug. 8, 1942, she was the daughter of Elsie Henderson of Claxton and
James A. Henderson, now deceased.
Mrs. Monroe was a member of Riverview Baptist Church in Claxton for 49 years
and retired after many years as a department manager from Winn Dixie Stores.
Her family said she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Her son, Richard Eugene Monroe; a sister, Mary Lou Henderson; a brother,
Leroy "Pete" Jones; a nephew, James Hubbs; and by father-in-law, Johnny French.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Monroe is survived by her husband of 39
years, David Monroe; her daughter, Melissa Stogsdill, and husband, Richard, of
Caryville; her son, James Monroe III, and wife, Kristina, of Knoxville; three
grandchildren, Matthew Stogsdill, Grant Monroe and Madison Stogsdill; a brother,
Billy Joe Henderson, and wife, Cathy, of Powell; five sisters, Beatrice
Shelton, and husband, Frank, of Clinton, Wilma Steverson, and husband, Steve, of
Lafayette, Ga., Debra Roop, and husband, Rick, of Claxton, and Wanda McCown, and
husband, Michael, and Pauline Sherrod, and husband, Dale, all of Knoxville;
mother-in-law, Louise French of Knoxville; a sister-in-law, Libby Hensley and
husband, Sam, of Knoxville; and by several nieces and nephews.
Rose Jones and Jenny Peters, both of Knoxville, are considered special
friends. Her family said she will remembered by many friends and acquaintances.
The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, at Riverview Baptist
Church in Claxton with the Rev. Don Hensley officiating.
Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at the church cemetery.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home of Clinton is in charge of arrangements.

Elsie Lee Bowling, 60, of Oliver Springs, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003, at
Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Born April 30, 1943, in Dickenson County, Va., she was the daughter of
Granville Phillips and Stella Hicks Phillips.
Mrs. Bowling lived in Oliver Springs since 1957 and was a member of Mineral
Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harley
Anderson Bowling.
Mrs. Bowling is survived by her son, Robert Bowling and wife, Judith, of
Oliver Springs; her daughter, Ann Marie Boshears and husband, Terry, of Clinton;
and by two granddaughters, Amanda Hale of Oak Ridge and Tereesa Boshears of
Clinton.
She is also survived by three brothers, Buster Phillips of Oliver Springs,
Gene Phillips of Indiana, and Granville Hensley of Bristol; and by four sisters,
Georgia Engstrom of Chicago, Joyce Phillips of Trammell, Va., Virginia
Holbrook of Clinchgo, Va., and Faye Correl of Indiana.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, at Butler
Cemetery of Oliver Springs with the Rev. Don Daugherty officiating.
Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs is in charge of arrangements.

Morton Alva Lee, 81, of Melbourne, Fla., died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, at
Wuesthoff Hospital in Rockledge, Fla., after an extended illness.
Born July 25, 1922, in Bearden, he was a 1949 graduate of the University of
Tennessee. During World War II, he was a member of the Army Air Force and
served overseas in England.
Mr. Lee had been a resident of Melbourne since 1986, and lived in Oak Ridge
from 1950 to 1977, where he was employed as an auditor for 30 years with the
Department of Energy until his retirement. He served on the Boys Club of Oak
Ridge board of directors and was the secretary/treasurer for many years. The
National Boys Club presented him with the Boys Club Medallion for "unusually
devoted service for helping boys to achieve a fuller, richer life through the
positive guidance of the Boys Club."
While living in Oak Ridge, Mr. Lee was a member of Covenant Presbyterian
Church and was also a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Palm Bay, Fla.
Mr. Lee is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen Ford Lee; his son, Alan
Lee, and wife, Darlene, of Knoxville; his daughter, Linda Lee McGlon, and
husband, Rob, of Cartersville, Ga.; four grandchildren, Trey Parker, Vivien Parker
El-Beck, Gabrielle Lee and Alexandria Lee.
The funeral was Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003, at Covenant Presbyterian Church in
Palm Bay.
A memorial service will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, in the chapel
of Highland Memorial Cemetery in Knoxville, followed by a graveside service.
The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to
Covenant Presbyterian Church, 720 Emerson Ave., Palm Bay, FL 32907 or Wuesthoff
Brevard Hospice, P.O. Box 560765, Rockledge, FL 32956.

Marion Lucille Stewart, 80, of Suwanee, Ga., died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003.
A native of Hickman, Ky., she was the daughter of Eva Mabry Kelly and Thomas
C. Kelly of Hickman.
Mrs. Stewart and her husband of 51 years, Howard Stewart Jr., now deceased,
lived in Oak Ridge during World War II, where her husband worked on the
Manhattan Project and again in the late 1960's and early 1970's, when her husband
served as a resident engineer during construction of the Department of Energy's
office building on the Oak Ridge Turnpike. She lived in the metro Atlanta area
since 1973 and worked more than 20 years for KEM Manufacturing Corp. in
Tucker, Ga.
Mrs. Stewart is survived by four children, Diane Tonelli of St. Petersburg
Beach, Fla., Elaine Smith of Seminole, Fla., Howard "Chip" Stewart III of
Snellville, Ga., and Timothy Stewart of Suwanee; nine grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Rosemary Eby, and a brother-in-law, Raimon Eby,
both of Oak Ridge; and by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Robert F. Smith of Oak Ridge is considered a close family friends of 60
years.
The funeral was Friday, Sept. 12, 2003, at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home in
Decatur, Ga.
Burial was in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker, Ga.
The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the
American Heart Association, 4708 Papermill Drive, Knoxville, TN 37909.

Lloyd Gulley III, 33, of Oliver Springs, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003, at
University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. Sharp Funeral Home in
Oliver Springs is in charge of arrangements, which were incomplete at press time.
Freda Wood Holt, 72, of Karns, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003, at her home.
Mynatt Funeral Home in Knoxville is in charge of arrangements, which were
incomplete at press time.
