COX, EVERETTE CECIL - age 84, of Clinton,
HATFIELD, HATTIE B. WATSON - age 90

COX, EVERETTE CECIL - age 84, of Clinton, passed away Friday, June 20, 2003
at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. He was a member of Clinton Second
Baptist Church. He was also a member of The Antique Auto Car Club of America,
Clinton Region. He was a retired chemical operator at the Y-12 plant in Oak
Ridge with over 38 years of service. Preceded in death by parents, Boyd & Rosa
Wade Cox; sisters, Mae Reynolds, Ruth Foust, Irene Morgan & Grace Cox;
brothers, Fred & Avie Cox. Mr. Cox was born August 23, 1918 in Anderson County.
Survivors: wife of 64 years...Florence Cox of Clinton; son, Paul Cox & wife,
Sharron of Poway, CA; granddaughters, Susie Golden & husband, Brian of Poway, CA,
Dawn Dickerhoff & husband, Eric of Poway, CA; 3 great-grandsons; 1
great-granddaughter; special nephew, David McGill & wife, Beverly of Goldsboro, NC; special
great nieces, Lynda Richards & husband, Chris of Powell, Marisa Herring &
husband, Doug of Goldsboro, NC; 2 great-great-nephews; 1 great-great- niece; a
host of nieces, nephews and extended family & friends. The family will receive
friends 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., Sunday, June 22, 2003 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home
in Clinton with funeral service following the visitation at 8:30 p.m., in the
chapel with Rev. Mike Thompson officiating. Interment will be held 11:00 a.m.,
Monday at Woodhaven Memory Gardens in Claxton. Holley- Gamble Funeral Home of
Clinton in charge of all arrangements.
HATFIELD, HATTIE B. WATSON - age 90 of the Montgomery Community, passed away
Thursday, June 19, 2003 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. Born in
Scott County, Tenn., February 20, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Rev.
W.S. Watson and Carrie Sexton Watson. She was a longtime member of the Antioch
Baptist Church and was saved at the age of 13. In addition to her parents,
she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Rev. Finley Hatfield;
stepmother, Lottie Watson; 11 brothers and sisters; and one grandson, Laughton
Alane Phillips. She is survived by four daughters, Fala Phillips and husband,
Laughton, Shelia Burress and husband, Arnold all of Norma, Sheldia Burress and
husband, Dwayne of Mill Branch Community; three sons, Loy Hatfield and wife,
Nannie, and Ray Hatfield and wife, Loretta of Fairview Community, and Floyd
Hatfield and wife, Geneva of Greentown, Ind.; one sister, Bessie Kirby and husband,
Leonard of Redding, Ohio; three brothers, Johnny Watson of Helenwood, James
Watson and wife, Nadine of Huntsville and Jr. Watson and wife, Bertha of
Loveland, Ohio; 25 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and three great-great
grandchildren who fondly knew her as Big Mom. She also leaves many nieces, nephews
and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday June
22 at 12 p.m. at the Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Carlie Duncan and Rev.
Steve Hatfield. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery. The family will
receive friends Saturday, June 21, after 6 p.m. at Jones & Son Funeral Home.
