ADKINS, GEORGE LAFAYETTE - age 92 of
BUNCH, IRENE DUNCAN - age 82 of Lake City,
TOLBERT, ERNEST - age 77, of Oak Ridge,

ADKINS, GEORGE LAFAYETTE - age 92 of Knoxville, went to be with his Lord at
6:19 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2003 at St. Mary's Residential Hospice. George, a
beloved husband and daddy was born in LaFollette, Tenn. to Alexander Adkins
and Hanie Pace Adkins Taylor. Member for many years of McCalla Avenue Baptist
Church before becoming a member of Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church. Member of
Burlington Lodge #763 F&AM. He was also a member of the Alcoa 25 Year Club.
Preceded in death by son, David Adkins; brothers, Rufus, U.S., and Taylor
Adkins. Survived by wife of 66 years, Pauline Henderlight Adkins; daughter
and son in law, Carolyn and Jim Hammer; brother in law, Jim Henderlight and
wife, Elizabeth; sisters in law, Othella Jones, Imogene Lusk, Jamie Bull all
of Knoxville, Willie Mae Hackett of Greer, South Carolina and Helen Adkins of
Baltimore, Maryland; several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank
the staff of St. Mary's Ground Central Unit and St. Mary's Residential
Hospice for their loving care and concern. In lieu of flowers contributions
may be made to Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church Building Fund, 4615 Asheville
Hwy., Knoxville, Tenn. 37914. Family and friends will meet at Stevens
Mortuary on Monday, May 19, 2003 at 9:15 a.m. to go in procession to
Lynnhurst Cemetery for a 10 a.m. graveside service and interment, Rev. Tony
Crisp officiating. Friends may call at their convenience on Sunday May 18,

BAKER, STELLA SUE "DOLLY" MERRITT - of Luttrell, began this life December 20,
1933, the last born child of Jesse & Anna Belle Porter Merritt. She began her
eternal life in Heaven May 17, 2003. There she will be reunited with her
first two babies, Russell, Jr. and Jacquetta Lee whom she never got to rock
here, but can now be with forever. She was also preceded on her journey by
her parents; 3 brothers, Noah, Harold & Marvin Merritt and her parents in
love, Edward and Anna Mae Baker. She leaves to celebrate her victory, her
beloved husband of 52 years, Russell; 2 sons, Bill (Lena) and Rick (Jennifer)
both of Tri-Cities area; 7 daughters, Arawanah Gardner of Strawberry Plains,
Pat (Patrick) Ramsey and Hazel Key both of Knoxville, Alice (Nathan) Norman
of Grovetown, Ga., Judy (Mitch) White of Luttrell, Anna (Wesley) Hinshaw of
Seymour, Kim (Wayne) Cochran of Halls. She also leaves behind sixteen
grandchildren, Cindy Gardner and fiancé, Chris Tucker, Joe Gardner, Daniel,
Andrew and Noah White, Justin and Brandy Key, Christopher, Aaron and Ashley
Cochran, Michael and Matthew Ramsey, Christopher and Jared Hinshaw, Joshua
Norman and Zachary Baker. She has one beloved great grandson, Bryson Cochran.
She will be sadly missed by her sister, Alice (Henry) Crawley and sister in
law, Janie Merritt and a host of nieces and nephews. Stella was a faithful
member of Warwick Chapel Baptist Church and will be missed by a host of
friends whom she cherished, especially Juanita Kitts and J.C. & Loretta Hill.
A very special thanks to Covenant Hospice and Lynne & Meryl who so tenderly
helped Mom to be at home with her family until the end. Funeral service 8
p.m. Sunday Mynatt Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ray Headrick officiating. Family
and friends will meet Monday 1:45 p.m. at Piney Grove Cemetery for an
interment service at 2 p.m. Pallbearers: Wayne Cochran, Mitch & Danny White,
Patrick Ramsey, Wesley Hinshaw, Justin Key and Joseph Gardner. Family will
receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Mynatt Funeral Home.

BUNCH, IRENE DUNCAN - age 82 of Lake City, passed away Friday, May 16, 2003
at Lake City Health Care Center. She was a member of Big Mountain Baptist
Church. Preceded in death by parents, Elijah & Nellie Duncan. Born June 15,
1920 in Anderson County, Tenn. Survivors: son, Harold Bunch & wife, Audrey of
LaFollette; daughters, Carol Higgs & husband, Bobby Joe of Clinton, Tricia
Nolen & husband, Eddie of Talbott, Tenn., Cathy Nance & husband Lynn of
Knoxville; grandchildren, Troy Carroll, Denise Pruitt, Amanda Jenkins, Cristy
Lenderman, Kevin Hensley, April Metcalf, Jennifer Henderson, Leslie Bunch,
Matthew Craig McKamey, Steve Edwards, Robert Edwards, Kellie Dean, Melinda
Davis & Joe Higgs; 16 great grandchildren; brothers, J.T. Duncan of Oliver
Springs, Roy Duncan of Harriman; sister, Nerva Phillips of Oliver Springs;
host of nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m.
Sunday May 18, 2003 at Holley- Gamble Funeral Home. Private graveside
services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Anderson Memorial Garden. Holley-Gamble
Funeral Home in Clinton in charge of all arrangements.

TOLBERT, ERNEST - age 77, of Oak Ridge, died Friday, May 16, 2003 at
Briarcliff Health Care Center.
Retired / Oak Ridge Utility District. Veteran of WWII serving with US Navy.
Attended AME Zion Church. Survived by: special friend, Margaret Brownfield of
Oak Ridge; nephews, John Tolbert and wife Sharon, Jesse Tolbert and Willis
Broyles of Knoxville, Jeffery Tolbert and wife Annie of Chattanooga, Willie
Tolbert Jr., of Tullahoma and Steven McDermott of Athens; nieces, Kim
Russell, Maria Tolbert and Tamara Frith of Knoxville, Pamela Frith of Shelby,
NC and
Kathleen Tolbert of Pensacola, FL; host of great nieces and nephews. A
memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at 2:00pm at Weatherford
Mortuary with Rev. Darris Waters officiating. In keeping with Mr. Tolbert's
wishes, he was cremated. Memorial contributions may be made to the American
Diabetes Association. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to his many
friends for their unwavering support and sympathy. The family will receive
friends on Tuesday from 1:00 - 2:00pm at Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge.
