EDWARDS, CLARA V. (CLOUGH) - age 77, of Clinton, passed away on Friday, March
21, 2003, at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. She was a member of
the Zion Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil
Elmer Clough and Stella Mae Tidwell Clough. She is survived by her husband,
Frank K. Edwards Sr.; her son, Frank K. Edwards, Jr. (Kenny) of Norris,
Tenn.; daughters and sons-in-law, Susan Ely and husband, Doug of Madison,
Ind., and Sandra Gilbert and husband, David of Winston-Salem, N.C.; grandson,
Devon A. Gilbert of Winston- Salem, N.C.; sisters, Eilene Hill of Baltimore,
Md., Ida King of Nashville, Tenn., Virginia Roberts of Tallahassee, Fla., and
Beatrice Boyles of Conn, Minn., and several nieces and nephews, and many
other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. til
7 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, 2003, at the Woodhaven Funeral Home in Claxton.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the Woodhaven
Memory Gardens. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 9:45 a.m.
Woodhaven Funeral Home, is in charge.

JOHNSON, VELMA (MAMAW JOHN) DUNCAN - of Oakdale went home to be with the Lord
Saturday, March 22, 2003. She was a faithful member of Boswell Chapel Baptist
Church in Oakdale. She was a Godly mother, Mamaw and friend to all who knew
her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Johnson; parents, Mark
and Zella Duncan; brother, Wade Duncan; son, Lowell Dean Johnson. She is
survived by her sons and their wives, Morris and Jean Johnson, Edward and
Edna Johnson; daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Lonnie Brown, Linda
Johnson Marie and Bill Collier, Frances Johnson; nine grandchildren; eleven
great-grandchildren and many friends and extended family members. The family
will receive friends at Schubert Funeral Home on Sunday, March 23, 2003 from
6-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, 2 p.m. at Boswell Chapel
Church in Oakdale with Bro. Jim Phillips officiating. Interment will follow
in Piney Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 1-2 p.m.

LAXTON, JANET DENISE - age 44 of Pioneer, Tenn., formerly of Knoxville went
to be with her Savior Friday, March 21, 2003 after a long battle with cancer.
Janet was born in Oneida, Tenn. April 17, 1958. She was the daughter of the
late Levi Laxton and Ophelia Laxton. She was an active member of the Calvary
Missionary Baptist Church since January 7, 1967. Janet graduated from Scott
High School in 1976, Knoxville Business College in 1979 and from C.P.R.E.
School of Massage Therapy in August 2001. In addition to her father, she was
preceded in death by her sister, Sandra Rose Laxton; nephew, Richard Levi
Bryant; two infant nephews, Jamison and Shea Bryant; a niece, Amanda Kate
Thompson; and grandparents, Arzo and Rose Laxton and Arthur and Bettie
Jeffers. She leaves to mourn her passing, her mother, Ophelia Laxton; three
sisters, Marva Robbins and husband, Joe, Juanell Bryant and husband, Lamance
all of Pioneer, Tenn. and Kay Thompson and husband, Bob of Onieda, Tenn.; two
nephews, Joel Robbins and Cade Bryant; four nieces, Amber Baird and husband,
David of Pioneer, Tenn., Wendy Slaven and husband, Chris, Amy Carson and
husband, Hollin all of Oneida and Latasha Bryant of Cookville, Tenn.; great
nephews, Logan West and Gage Slaven; and great niece, Madison Baird; aunts,
Shelvie Miller and husband, Marvin, Delvene Botts and husband, Ezra, Elva
Yaden, Melba Acres and husband, Johnny, Leah Jeffers and husband, Don;
uncles, Ervin E. Jeffers and wife, Clolene all of Scott County, Tenn.,
Millard (Tim) Jeffers and wife, Mary of Harrison, Tenn. She also leaves a
host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted
Sunday evening March 23 at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home
with Rev. Rick Cox officiating. Graveside services will be conducted Monday,
March 24 at 11 a.m. at the Laxton Cemetery. The family will receive friends
Sunday evening from 5:30 until time of the services at 8 p.m. at Jones & Son
Funeral Home, Oneida, Tenn.

LEGAN, JUANITA FORD - age 61, of Jellico, Tenn., passed away Thursday March
20, 2003, at Oak Ridge Methodist Medical Center. She was preceded in death by
mother, Jessie Ford; father, George Ford; sisters, Lucille, Katy Elizabeth,
Sandra Kay, Andra Fay and an infant sister; brother, George Ford. Survivors:
daughter & son in law, Becky and Vernon Webb, Danville, Ky.; granddaughter,
Gina Webb of Danville, Ky.; sisters, Doris Lundy, Ruth Toole, Claudia Huskey,
Edith Ford all of Knoxville, Shelia Humphrey of Andersonville, Geneva Sawyers
of Clinton; brothers, Oakley Willard Ford of Ind., Malcolm (Buddy) Ford of
Heiskell, Michael Ford of Heiskell, Clyde Dale (Tim) Ford of Andersonville;
step mother, Anna Ruth Majors; special nieces, Debbie Lawson, Brittany Lawson
and Megan Lawson all of Williamsburg, Ky.; numerous other nieces and nephews
and special friend, Brother Otis Murray. Service 8 p.m. Sunday Mynatt Funeral
Home Chapel, Evangelist Steve Perkins officiating. Family and friends will
meet at Mt. Pleasant UMC Cemetery, 11 a.m. Monday for an interment service.
Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Mynatt Funeral Home.

LOVELESS, MARY ELLIOTT - 73, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, March 20, 2003 at
her home surrounded by her family. Survived by: her husband of 55 years,
William E. Loveless; daughters, Carla Monk and husband Jim of Marleton, New
Jersey, Katie Landis of Oak Ridge, Karen Shonkwiler and husband Rev. Charles
Shonkwiler of Fairborn, Ohio, Chris Buck and husband Sam of Knoxville;
sister, Lou Troutman husband Ken of Highland, CA and their family; brother,
James Elliott and wife Melba of Fort Worth, TX and their family;
grandchildren, Leigh Monk, Christina Trentham and husband David, Sarah, Joel
and Hannah Shonkwiler, William, Amy and David Buck; great grandchildren, Tina
Trentham, Annabelle Shonkwiler. Funeral services are Monday, March 24, 2003
at Weatherford Mortuary at Noon with Rev. Charles Shonkwiler officiating. The
burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens. The family asks that any
memorials be in the form of contributions to a charity of the donor's choice.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 10 - Noon at Weatherford
Mortuary, Oak Ridge.

MARLOW, PATTY LOU - age 68 of Lake City, Tenn., passed away Saturday, March
22, 2003 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. She was a member of
New Hope Baptist Church in Lake City. She was preceded in death by her
mother, Janie Burdette and sister, Linda Morgan. Survivors: daughter, Tina
Isabell of Heiskell, Tenn.; son, Timothy Marlow of Clinton, Tenn.;
grandchildren, Nicole Gilliam, Christina Isabell and Danny Marlow; sisters,
Darlene & Dennis West, Brenda & Willie Huff, and Nancy Selbe all of W. Va.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 24, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. at
the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City with the funeral service at 8
p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Jeffery Hawkins and Rev. George Miller
officiating. Interment will be Tuesday March 25, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Oak
Grove Cemetery in Lake City. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City in
charge of arrangements.

MARTIN, MARY KATHERINE SCATES - age 56 of St. Paul's, NC, formerly of
Huntsville, Tenn., passed away Friday, March 21, 2003 at Durham Regional
Medical Center in Durham, NC. She was the daughter of the late John Franklin
and Marjorie Stonecipher Scates. She was also preceded in death by
grandparents, Edwin Lloyd and Loma Buttram Scates; nephew, Chris Gazay;
special aunt Rose Nelson; uncle and aunt, Edwin Lloyd (Sonny) and Geneva
Scates. Mary Katherine was a member of First Presbyterian Church of
Huntsville, Tenn. She was a graduate of University of Tennessee Knoxville,
majoring in Music and most recently served as head of Music and Arts
Department of Red Springs High School in Red Springs, NC where she directed a
nationally competitive show choir. She formerly taught music in the
Huntsville School System and offered local private music instruction. Kate
was a professional performer for a number of years and had entertained
throughout the country including Gatlinburg, Tenn., Atlanta, Ga. and Canada.
Survivors include: husband, Jerry Martin of St. Paul's, NC; one sister,
Rosanna Phillips and husband, Ed of Huntsville, Tenn.; brother, John Scates
and wife, Jan of Oneida, Tenn.; nephew, Dustin Phillips and great nephew,
Brett Gazay; sisters in law, Faye Cook and husband, Tommy, Joyce Henry and
husband, Leonard; brother in law, Darrell Martin and wife, Carolyn all of
Wilmington, NC; brother in law, Ken Martin and wife, Carol of Ocean Isle, NC
and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted
Tuesday, March 25 at 8 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Huntsville
with Rev. Martha Ann Fairchild officiating. Special music will be provided by
Carol Reed, Tracey Stansberry, Nick Manis, Bert Walker and special friend, Ed
Wing. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, March 26 at 11 a.m. at
the Mossop Cemetery in Huntsville, Tenn. The family will receive friends
Tuesday evening from 5 until time of the funeral services at 8 p.m. at the

MYERS, EDWARD - age 83, of LaFollette, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2003
at St. Mary's of Campbell Co. Member of First Presbyterian Church LaFollette.
Owner of Myers & Son Discount Mart in LaFollette for 51 years. Preceded in
death by wife, Annette Myers & parents, Monroe & Anna Wright Myers, US Army
veteran of WW II. Survivors: son & daughter in law, Steve & Pam Myers,
LaFollette; grandchildren, Justin & Kevin Myers, LaFollette, Kendra Sweat,
Jacksboro, Anya Zerilla, Louisville, Ky.; great grandchildren, Lauren & Taner
Sweat, Jacksboro, Abriana Zerilla, Louisville, Ky.; sisters, Blanche
Brantley, Jessie Prater, Evelyn McCullah, all of LaFollette. Funeral service
8 p.m. Sunday Cross Chapel, Rev. Malcolm King officiating. Interment 10 a.m.
Monday Bakers Forge Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday
at Cross Funeral Home.

WILSON, ALMA R. - 69 of Oak Dale, passed away Saturday March 22, 2003 at
Roane Medical Center. Arrangements incomplete and will be announced by Rose
Mortuary Broadway Chapel.

WORMSLEY, CHARLES RALPH, SR. (Papaw Charles) - age 86, of Lake City,
Tennessee, formerly of
Briceville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 21, 2003, at the St.
Mary's Residential Hospice in Knoxville. He was a member and leader of
Briceville Community Church. He attended Lake City United Methodist Church.
He was a 50 years plus member and treasurer of Crystal Lodge #616 and
Scottish Rite. He worked for Camery Coal Company in Briceville as bookkeeper
for several years. He then went to work as bookkeeper at Ford Furniture
Company, where he worked for over 40 years until they sold to Lindsay's,
where he worked until age 85. He was preceded in death by wife, Charlotte
Ruth White Wormsley; son, Charles Ralph Wormsley, Jr.; parents, John Henry
and Minnie Jane Vowell Wormsley, and brother, Kyle Wormsley. Survivors:
daughter-in-law, Patsy E. Wormsley of Lake City, Tenn.; grandchildren, Krista
Little and husband, Jeff of Clinton, Tenn., Ralph Clark Wormsley and wife,
Jody of Knoxville, Tenn.; great- grandchildren, Logan and Garrett Little of
Clinton, and Jordan Clark and Parker Scott Wormsley of Knoxville;
sisters-in-law, Helen Wormsley of Knoxville, Tenn., Marjorie Adkins of Lake
City, Tenn., and Libby White of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; caregivers: nieces, Susan
and Janet Wormsley of Knoxville, Clyde Miller of Lake City, Margie Lawson of
Lake City, Dessie Hunt of Caryville, and Bobbie Ward of Lake City. Special
friends, J. Vic Ford Family; Joe Lindsay Family, and Anna Mae Evans. A host
of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. The family will
receive friends on Sunday, March 23, 2003, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City, with the Masonic service starting at
8:00 p.m., followed by funeral service in the chapel with the Rev. Brenda
Poole and Rev. Brian Courtney and Clark Wormsley officiating. In lieu of
flowers, memorials may be made to the Briceville Community Church Maintenance
Fund, c/o Anna Mae Evans, P.O. Box 294, Briceville, TN 37710. Interment will
be Monday, March 24, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in
Claxton. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, in Lake City, in charge of all
arrangements.
