GROSS, MARIE DALLAS - age 94, of LaFollette, passed away Tuesday, March 18,
2003, at St. Mary's Health & Rehab Center. She was a member of LaFollette
First Baptist Church. Retired as Postmaster at Purden, Tennessee. Preceded in
death by husband, Hugh Dana Gross, Sr. in 1965. Parents; George and Susan
Bowman Ellison; brother, Everett Ellison; sisters, Ruth Heatherly, Goldie
Chapman and Nora Ellison. Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Hugh Dana
Gross, Jr., and Barbara of Hendersonville, N.C.; dauchter and son-in-law,
Carolyn Sue and Ebba McDaniel of Rock Hill, S.C.; grandchildren, Amy and Jack
Baker of Birmingham, Ala., Jennifer and Bob Taylor of West Palm Beach, Fla.,
and David Dana and Carla Gross of Raleigh, N.C.; six great- grandchildren;
sisters, Etta Lambden and Flossie Robertson, both of LaFollette. Graveside
service and Interment: 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 21, Woodlawn Cemetery, Rev.
Jack Baker officiating. Arrangements by Cross Funeral Home.
HATMAKER, ARNOLD BARNEY "PETE" - age 62, of Jacksboro, passed away Tuesday,
March 18, 2003, at the St. Mary's Medical Center in LaFollette. He was a
member of Ridgeview Baptist Church. He retired from the State of Tennessee
Highway Department as an engineer. Preceded in death by parents, Dyle
Hatmaker and Ruby Treece Baird. He was a United States Navy Veteran. Pete was
born August 20, 1940, in Campbell County. Survivors: son, Michael Hatmaker
and wife, Kimberly of Maynardville; sister, Margaret Cross and husband,
Donald Ray of LaFollette; brothers, Jerry Baird and wife, Debbie of
Jacksboro, and Don Baird and wife, Jerri of Jacksboro; mother-in-law, Ollie
Bullock of Clinton, and several nieces and nephews. Special friend and former
wife, Marie Hatmaker Brock and husband, Everett of Clinton; sisters-in-law,
Jean Sharpe and husband, Rev. Bill Sharpe of Clinton, Faye Parks and husband,
Lynn of Clinton, and Lou Rosenbalm of Clinton. The family will receive
friends 6:00- 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2003, at Holley-Gamble Funeral
Home, in Clinton, with funeral service following at 8:00 p.m., in the chapel
with Rev. Bill Sharp and Rev. C. H. Baird officiating. Interment will be held
11:00 a.m. Friday at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home,
of Clinton, in charge of all arrangements.
LAVENDER, MR. LELAND THURMAN - age 105, of Deer Lodge, passed away Wednesday,
March 19, 2003 in the Life Care Center of Morgan County. He was a member of
the Deer Lodge First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife,
Debbie Atkins Lavender; son, Dale K. Lavender. Survived by sons, Harold D.
Lavender of Deer Lodge, Leland C. Lavender of Huntsville, Ala. and Austin C.
Lavender of Deer Lodge; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 9
great-great-grandchildren; also several nieces, nephews and friends. The
family will receive friends Saturday, March 22, 2003 from 1 to 3:00 p.m. at
Schubert Funeral Home in Sunbright. Funeral service will begin at 3:00 with
Rev. Jim Phillips. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Deer Lodge.
MILLER, HELEN PAROLARI - age 75, of Jacksboro, passed away suddenly early
Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at St. Mary's of Campbell Co. She was a member of
Elm Grove Baptist Church. Retired from LaFollette Medical Center after 18
years of service. Preceded in death by husband, Arthur Miller; parents,
Charlie and Bertha Green Parolari, and sister, JoAnn Goins. Survivors:
daughter, Debra Comer; granddaughters, Ashley and Glenna Comer, all of
Jacksboro; brother, Charles (Buddy) Parolari of LaFollette; sisters, Mary
Davis of Calvin, Ky., Dorothy Walters of LaFollette, Norma Harris and Betty
Wiegel, both of Knoxville; special sister-in-law, Shirley Parolari of
LaFollette, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 8 p.m. Thursday,
Cross Chapel, Rev. H. Lee Ray officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Friday,
Fincastle Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at
Cross Funeral Home.
