Does anyone have any knowledge of a General/Jeneral Smith who was born in
TN abt. 1864. He was a deaf mute. The 1880 Federal Census listed him at
the Deaf and Dumb Asylum in Knoxville, TN with the following :
General Smith
Born: 1863
Birthplace: TN
Age: 17
Occupation: School
Marital Status: Single
Race: White

It is said General/Jeneral Smith's wife was named Betty (?) and that he died
in KY in the 1930's. General Smith had a known brother named James Franklin
Smith...James Franklin Smith had a son named Ed Smith.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
