Ex-Pastor Of Graves Gap Church Dies
The Rev.Link Phillips,68,of Beech Fork community,Caryville Rt.1,died at 7a.m.Tuesday atOak Ridge Hospital
of heart disease and pneumonia.He was a Baptist minister and served as pastor at several Anderson and Campbell County churches.
Before retiring he was pastor at Grave's Gap Church.Mr.Phillips was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church at Beech Fork.
He enjoyed farming.He was a native of Campbell County.Survivors include his wife,Mrs.Stella Overton Phillips,three sons,
Coy E.Phillips of Dunkirk,Ind.Tommy and Larry Phillips of Caryville Rt.1,four daughters,Mrs.Glenna Tassier and Mrs.Shirenia Tropes
of Dunkirk,Mrs.Elizabeth Dowden of Levonia,Mich.and Mrs.Imogene Nighbert of Vasper,five brothers,Ethel Phillips of Clinton Rt.5,
Johnny and Sam Phillips of Caryville,Jessie Phillips of Rosedale,and Ike Phillips of College Corner,Ohio,two sisters, Mrs.Alice Hale
of Caryville,and Mrs.Ann Lloyd of Oliver Springs,20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are to be held at 2p.m.Thursday(today)at Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev.Albert Seiber officiating.
Burial is to be in Phillips Cemetery.

Avid Quilt Maker Of Clinton Dies
Mrs.Juda Phillips,85,of Foley Hill Rd.Clinton Rt.2,died at 4:25a.m.Friday at Oak Ridge Hospital of heart disease.
she was the wife of Benjamin Phillips,a retired coal miner,whose 100th birthday was Sunday.Mrs.Phillips was a member
of Fellowship Baptist Church of Caryville,and she enjoyed making quilts.She was a native of Caryville,and she had moved
to the home of her daughter,Mrs.Pearl Wilshire,near Clinton three years ago.Other survivors include another daughter,
Mrs.Ernie Blanton of Shiloh,Ohio,four sons,Abe,Robert,and Jay Will Phillips of Caryville Rt.1 and Matthew Phillips of Claxton,
several grandchildren,great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren,a stepson,Tommy Phillips of Akron,Ohio, and a step-daughter,
Sarah Patterson of Caryville Rt.1.Funeral services were held Sunday at Beech Fork Church with the Rev.Edmond Phillips the
Rev.Carvin Phillips and Rev.Joby Byrge officiating.Burial was in Phillips Cemetery.

Ex-Grocer Crowley,80,Is Dead
Winfield F.Crowley,80,a retired grocer,died at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in Oak Ridge Hospital after a long illness.
He operated Crowley's Grocery in front of his home on Foley Hill Rd.on Clinton Rt.3 for about 10 years until
retiring in 1961.Earlier he mined coal for more than 30 years.He was a member of Jarnigan's Chapel Baptist Church.
The body is at Martin Funeral Home in Clinton.The family will receive friends Thursday(tonight).Services are to be
at 2p.m.Friday night at Jarnigan's Chapel Church with the Rev.R.L.Gibson and the Rev.Arless Lamarr officiating.
Burial is to be in the church cemetery.He leaves his wife,the former,Litha Burress,three daughters,Mrs.Letha Bunch
of Clinton Rt.2,Mrs.Lillian Phillips of Beech Fork,and Mrs.Virgie Helen Newport of Xenia,O.three sons,Ondes Crowley
of Clinton Rt.3, Estel Crowley of Lexington,Ky.,and Audie of Corbin,Ky.,42 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Irvin Braden,63,Former Squire,Dies
Irvin Braden,63,for 20 years a Funeral Director at Martin Funeral Home in Lake City,died of a heart attack Friday
morning after he went to work.He resided at 604 Church St.in Lake City.Braden was elected a member of Anderson
County Court on Aug.5,194? and served one term.He also served on the Lake City Board of Mayor and Commission
from 1961 to 1963,in charge of the department of safety.Earlier employment was with Cambria Coal Co.at Briceville
and as a sercurity gyard in Oak Ridge.Braden belonged to Cystal Lodge ?? F&A.M. at Briceville.He was a deacon
at Main Street Baptist Church.Services were at 3p.m.Sunday at his church with the Rev.Edsel West officiating.
Burial was in Sulphur Springs Cemetery.He leaves his wife,Mrs.Josephine Goodykootz Braden,a son,Rex Braden
of Boise,Idaho.,three daughters,Mrs.Robert(Lucille)Foust of Clinton,Mrs.Loy(Noleeka)Marshall of Dallas,and
Mrs.Lawrence(Coleen)Myers of Tucson,Ariz.,10 grandchildren,two brothers,Oscar Braden and Walker Braden
both of Briceville,two sisters,Mrs.Frances McMann of Blaine and Mrs.Nellie Galbraith of Oliver Springs.
