Widow Of Coal Miner Dies At 73
Mrs.Vera Patterson Daugherty,73, of Second St.Lake City,died at Lake City Hospital.
She had been ill since sustaining a hip frature last July.She was the wife of Howard Daugherty,
a retired coal miner who died in 1959.Mrs.Daugherty was a member of Laurel Branch Baptist Church,
and enjoyed traveling.A native of New River area,she was the dauhgter of Eliu and Rosa Bell Bunch Patterson.
Survivors include two daughters,Mrs.Wilbert(Faye)Duncan and Miss.Joy Daugherty of Lake City,
three sons,Doug Daugherty of Clinton Rt.2,Jim and Frank Daugherty of Briceville,a sister,Mrs.Mossie Daugherty,
11 grandchildren and four-great grandchildren.Funeral services were held Tuesday at Laurel Branch Baptist Church
with the Rev.Edwin Phillips officiating.Interment was in Circle Cemetery.

New River Area Native Dies At 64
Mrs.Sarah Jane Goodman,64,of North Main St.,Lake City,died at 10a.m.Sunday at her home.
She was a member of West Side Baptist Church and a native of the New River area.
Survivors include her husband,Elbert Goodman,four sons,Austin Franklin Goodman,
Dale Edward Goodman,and Roger Lee Goodman of Lake City,Hoye Goodman of Devonia,
three daughters,Mrs.Charles(Bernice)Coward and Miss.Unavee Goodman of Clinton,
and Mrs.Daivd(Georgia Louise)Byrge of Briceville,a brother,John Bray of Lake City,
two sisters,Mrs.Ruth Ann Seiber of Lake City,and Mrs.Mary Lou West of Akron,Ohio,
20 grandchildren,and eight great-grandchildren.Funeral services were held Wednesday
at West Side Baptist Church in Lake City with the Rev.B.Ray Phillips officiating.
Burial was in Goodman Cemetery in Rosedale.

Hendren Ex-Knitter,Dies At 82
John M.Hendren,82,of Hendren Rd.Clinton Rt.5,died at 8:30p.m.Saturday at Knoxville Recovery Center of a stroke.
He was formerly employed as a knitter by Magnet Mills Inc.He was a member of the Baptist Church and enjoyed
hunting.A native of the Clinton area he was the son of the late Charles A. and Rebecca Seivers Hendren.
He leaves a brother,Jacob Hendren of Janesville,Wisc.Graveside services were held Tuesday at the Hendren
Cemetery near his home with the Rev.Joe Bridges officiating.
