June 11,1936

Fred Cox
Fred Cox,33, died at his home last Sunday,June 7,on Clinton route 1,of pneumonia.
He is survived by;his parents,Mr.and Mrs.Boyd Cox,his wife,Mrs.Carrie Cox,three children,
Elma,Mary Ruth,and Madeline,two brothers,Ava and Evert,and three sisters,Mrs.Mae Reynolds
of Norris,Mrs.Irene Morgan of Clinton,and Mrs.Ruth F Cox.Mr.Cox was a farmer and a member
of Bethel Baptist church.Funeral services were held at the Bethel church at 10a.m. last Tuesday
with burial in the church cemetery.The Rev.Aud Cox,the Rev.B.S.Graham and the Rev.W.W.Massey officiated.
Holley Funeral Home was in charge.


June 11,1936

Mrs.Bessie Bell
Mrs.Bessie Bell,43,died at her home in Caryville last Tuesday,June 9.
Her death was the result of a four weeks illness of heart trouble.She is
survived by her husband,six children and several brothers and sisters.
The Rev.Luther Wilson of Clinton is one of the brothers.Funeral services
were held at the home Wednesday at 10am.Holley Funeral home was in charge.

Z.Burress
Z.Burress,55,of Clinton RDF 2 died at his home Monday about noon after a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife,five daughters,Mrs.William May,Mrs.Pearl Dagley, Misses Vassal,
Mary and Louise Burress,and two sons, Nelson and Sam,two sisters,Mrs.Maggie Crippen and
Mrs.Lizzie Farmer.and three brothers,Tom, Hugh and Trigg Burress.
Funeral services were held at 2p.m. Wednesday at Sulphur Springs church with burial in the church cemetery.
Wells Funeral Home was in charge.Ministers were the Rev.Arvin McKimsey and the Rev.Luther Wilson,
Clinton Council No.88 Jr.O.U.A.M. was in charge of services at the grave.
Pallbearers were:Clyde Farmer,Edward,Hobart,Homer and Reece Burress and Robert Crippen.
In charge of flowers were Georgia King,Gladys Braden,Anna Mae Steel,Lizze Brock,Ruth Farmer.Flossie Burress.

Rufus Bennett
Funeral services were held at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon at Beech Grove Baptist Church for Rufus Bennett,
45,who died Monday morning in Kelly Hospital in Coal Creek.Mr.Bennett was a miner.
His wife and six children.Geneva,Mabel,Rufus,J.T., Betty, Jo Anne surviver,as do two sisters, Mrs.Marion Sharp and
Mrs.Oliver Vowell,and three brothers,Frank and Bob of Coal Creek and George of Sullivan,Ind.
The Rev.T.H. Roark and the Rev.Mr.Burrell officiated and Martin Funeral Home was in charge.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
