MATTIE ARDALIE BABB, 86, of LaFollette, died on Monday, Aug. 19, at her home.
She was of the Methodist Faith. She was a schoolteacher and a librarian for
42 years with the Campbell County School System.
She was preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Rachel (Conley) Babb.
She is survived by Conley Price of LaFollette.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 24, at Cross Funeral Home Chapel
with Rev. Larry Brinson officiating. Interment was in the Sharp Cemetery
(Longhollow Community).
Cross Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

ORDELL HOOVER, 71, of Williamburg, Ky., died on Saturday, Aug. 31.
He was preceded in death by parents, Craig and Martha Hoover; two brothers,
Elmo and Charles Hoover.
He is survived by wife, Faye Hoover and Williamsburg, Ky.; four sons, Roger
Hoover of Williamsburg, Ky., James Hoover of Williamsburg, Ky., Lewis Hoover
of Hillsburg, Ohio and Emmitt Hoover of Jellico; seven daughters, Dorothy
Gibson of Jellico, Carolyn Springer of Hillsburg, Ohio, Sheila Flowers of
Hillsburg, Ohio, Janett Honeycutt of Jellico, Beverly Lawson of Jellico,
Melinda Satterfield of Williamsburg, Ky., and Robin Mefford of Jellico; 31
grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Willard Hoover of
LaFollette and Sherman Hoover of Sydney, Ohio; two sisters, Ida Mae Adkins of
Jellico and Ossie Mae Perry of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Harp Funeral Home Chapel
with Rev. Jerry Shelton and Rev. Ronnie Jeffers officiating. Interment was in
the Jellico Cemetery.
Harp Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

ERNEST KING, 79, of Oak Ridge, died on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the Methodist
Medical Center in Oak Ridge. He was a member of the Tracey Branch Baptist
Church.
He was preceded in death by wife, June Parrott King; parents, Tom and Elsie
Sowders King and brother, Elden King.
He is survived by wife, Patsy King of Oak Ridge; daughter, Karen Sue McFadden
of Clarksville, Tenn.; step-sons, Kenneth Claiborne of Yelp, Wa. and Wayne
Edward Claiborne of Bennettsville, S.C.; two grandchildren and four
step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren; brother, Fate King and
Billy King, both of Ky., Snead King of Fla., Charles King of Knoxville and
Ancil King of Clairfield, Tenn.; sisters, Naomi Wallace of Ga., Betty Joe
Fore of Ky. and Kleda Mae Thacker of LaFollette.
Funeral services were held Saturday in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral
Home with Rev. Don Jordan officiating. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

CLIFFORD EUGENE KIRKLAND, 77, of Fairborn, Ohio, formerly of Campbell County,
died on Thursday, Aug. 29. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church of
Beavercreek, Ohio. He was a WWII veteran, wounded in action and twice
decorated for Valor, he fought in N. Africa, Sicily, Italy, France, Germany
and Austria. He also served in the Korea and he was retired a Chief Warrant
Office from the Army in 1961 after 22 years and then went to work for U.S.
Government Civil Services at W.P.A.F.B for 25 years, retiring again in 1986.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rosco; mother, Ida; brothers,
Charles, T.R., Bill and sister, Betty.
He is survived by wife, Aline Hale Kirkland of Fairborn, Ohio; sons, Brooks
of Xenia, Ohio, George of Radcliff, Ky., Gary of Beavercreek, Ohio and Roger
Charleston, West Virginia; brothers, Jack of Dayton, Ohio, Ada of Clinton and
Francis, Southside, Al.; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 2, at Cross Funeral Home with Rev.
Condie McGinnis and Rev. Charles Redmon officiating. Interment was in the
Harness Cemetery with Military Honors by Campbell County Honor Guard.
Cross Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

BETTY L. MURRAY, 65, of LaFollette, died on Thursday, Aug. 29, at her home.
She was preceded in death by parents, Shade and Louise Newman.
She is survived by husband, Bobby L. Murray; sons, Lowell and Bobby Lee,
Michael Murray; daughter, Sharon Green and Lisa Murray Horne, Lillie Murray,
all of LaFollette and Rose Marie Murray of Ohio; 12 grandchildren and one
great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Friday, in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral
Home with Rev. Earl Powers officiating. Interment was in the George Parton
Cemetery in Frakes, Ky.
Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Robert W. Roberts "Eugene Slab Foot"
Robert W. Roberts "Eugene Slab Foot", 59, of Jacksboro, died on Wednesday,
Aug. 28, at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. He was of the
Baptist Church. He was former employee for the City of Jacksboro Street
Department for several years.
He was preceded in death by parents, William and Lilly Morgan Roberts and
sister, Susie Burris.
He is survived by wife, Linda Nelson Roberts; daughter, Tammy Hill, all of
Jacksboro; sister, Ethel Richmond of LaFollette.
Funeral services were held Saturday in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral
Home with Rev. Ronnie Freeman and Rev. David Hicks officiating. Interment was
in the Campbell County Memorial Gardens.
Martin Wilson Funeral Home of LaFollette was in charge of arrangements.

BUFORD L. SHIFLET, 69, of Speedwell, died on Aug. 29, at the University of
Tennessee Hospital. He was a faithful member, deacon and song leader of
Speedwell Academy Church. He sold automobiles and insurance for many years.
He was preceded in death by father, Lloyd Shiflet and mother, Dorcas Shipey.
He is survived by wife, Betty Turner-Shiflet; son, Bobby Shiflet of Paris,
Ky.; daughter, Renee Shiflet of Speedwell; two grandsons; sister, Susie
Thompson of LaFollette.
Funeral services were held Saturday, at Reece Valley Chapel with Rev. David
Goins and Rev. Dwayne Byrd officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be
made at the American Heart Association.
Reece Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
DONALD BURKEL STEVENS, 81, of LaFollette, died on Aug. 25, at his residence.
He was a retired electrician with Ford Motor Company and a WWII veteran
serving in the US Navy.
He is survived by sons, Dennis Mark Stevens of Jacksboro and John Richard
Stevens of Aus.; daughter, Cathleen Joy Miller of Minn.; sister, Laura Jane
Mehki, Oregon.
No serves were planned.
Cross Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
