BULLOCK, FAYE - age 76, of Caryville, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2002,
at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a member of
Caryville First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by parents, Dewey
and Verlie Pebley; sister, Frankie Harness, and brother, Jack (Skeeter)
Pebley. Survivors: husband, Harvey W. Bullock of Caryville; son and
daughter-in-law, Roger and Mary Bullock of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and
daughter, Margie Bullock of Knoxville, Tenn. Funeral service 11 a.m.
Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at Cross Funeral Home Chapel, Dr. T. D. Hooker, Rev.
Don Reynolds and Gene Wright officiating. Interment in Campbell Memorial
Gardens. The family will receive friends 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5,
2002, prior to the service at Cross Funeral Home. Cross Funeral Home,
LaFollette.

GRAY, ED - age 62, formerly of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, September 4,
2002, at the Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia, due to injuries sustained
from a farming accident. He was a member of Rome Temple Baptist Church in
Rome, Georgia. Preceded in death by wife, Jeannie Gray; daughter, Robin Gray;
parents, Lawrence and Marie Roop Gray; brothers, Roy and Clyde Gray. Ed was
born October 24, 1939, in Anderson County. Survivors: daughters, Joanna
Murphy and husband, Kevin of Minnesota, Debbie Schmid of South Dakota, Lisa
Kay Gray of Illinois, Jackie Sue Hellman and husband, Robert of Illinois, and
Gina Mae of Illinois; sisters, Helen Ruth Sims and husband, Joe of Clinton,
Carolyn Hall and husband, David of Cleveland, Shirley Lankford and husband,
Bob of Clinton, and Wilma Childs of Clinton; brothers, Larry Gray and wife,
Mary Lou "Gert" of Morristown, and James Robert "Bob" Gray of Knoxville.
Special friend, Mae Medley of Rome, Georgia, several grandchildren, nieces
and nephews. The family will receive friends 5:00-8:00 p.m., Friday,
September 6, 2002, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home, in Clinton, with funeral
service following at 8:00 p.m., in the Chapel with Rev. George Miller and
Bro. Billy officiating. Interment will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday at Piney
Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Holley Gamble Funeral Home, of Clinton, in
charge of all arrangements.

GALLAHER, WILLIAM T., M.D. - a native of Tennessee and longtime Wilmington,
Delaware resident, died Monday, September 2, 2002. Born July 23, 1917, in
LaFollette, Tennessee, Doctor Gallaher graduated from the University of
Tennessee and the University of Pennsylvania Medical School in 1942. Upon
graduation, Dr. Gallaher entered the U. S. Army Medical Corps and became a
Captain. He served with distinction, earning the Bronze Star for Bravery and
the Purple Heart. Dr. Gallaher landed on Utah Beach on D-Day, and
participated in the 50th D-Day Anniversary in France in 1992. After the war,
Dr. Gallaher completed his medical residency at New York University Hospital,
Margaret Hague Hospital in New Jersey and Bridgeport Hospital in Connecticut.
He came to Wilmington in the early 1950's as an OB/GYN and obtained his board
certification. He was an active member of the Medical Society of Delaware,
the American College of OB/GYN, and the International College of Surgeons.
Bill kept close ties to his family in Tennessee, and was a Director of
People's National Bank of LaFollette, a bank founded by his father. He
retired from active medical practice in 1990, and traveled much of the world.
Bill and his wife, Irene divided their time together between Bethany Beach,
Delaware and Green Valley, Arizona. While in Arizona, Dr. Gallaher joined the
Elks Club. Preceded in death by wife, Phyllis D. Gallaher, M.D.; parents,
George Browder and Grace Martin Gallaher, and his sister, Sarah Gallaher
Williams. Survivors: nephews, Browder G. Williams and Maurice K. Williams,
Jr.; nieces, Theresa Beauchamp and Sarah E. Looney; stepsons, Scott H.,
Jeffrey H. and Kent E. Lonsdale; wife, Irene H. Gallaher. Funeral services
Saturday, 2 p.m. at LaFollette First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Malcolm
King officiating. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family requests, in
lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the LaFollette First
Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m.
Saturday before services at LaFollette First Presbyterian Church. Walters
Funeral Home, LaFollette, in charge of arrangements.

NEWPORT, VELMA "KAY" McINTYRE - age 67, of Knoxville, passed away Tuesday,
September 3, 2002. She was born in Robbins, Tenn. After many years of
service, she retired from KUB. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. She
is preceded in death by parents, John Franklin and Juanita Pemberton
McIntyre, and step father, Charles Chambliss. She is survived by husband,
Calvin P. Newport; son and daughter-in-law, Calvin P. and Donna Newport II of
Hendersonville; daughter, Christel Newport; grandson, Calvin P. "Trey"
Newport, III; brother, Forrest H. and wife, Sandra McIntyre of Hilton Head,
S.C.; sister, Martha Jean and husband, Richard Aquila; step sisters, Margaret
Area and Aleta Chambliss of Arizona, and several nieces and nephews. Very
special friends from Cherry Hill Park and KUB. Funeral services will be
Thursday at 11 a.m. at Weaver Funeral Home with Rev. David McIntyre
officiating. Following the service, family and friends will meet at 2:15 p.m.
at Cooper Memorial Gardens in Oneida, Tenn., for a 2:30 p.m. graveside
service. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at Weaver
Funeral Home, 5815 Western Ave., 588-3868.

SCOTT, MRS. MARY JUNE MORGAN - age 75, of Wartburg, on Tuesday, September 3,
2002, God called his child home to rest. She was born to the late Mr. Alex
Morgan and Mary Jane (Stringfield) Morgan on June 30, 1927, in Lancing, Tenn.
Mary June was the last child from a family of twelve, being preceded in death
by her three brothers, John Franklin Morgan, Oather Alex Morgan, and Otto
Morgan, Sr.; seven sisters, Violet Sara Morgan, Olia Clara Gregg, Cordelia
Page, Nancy Mae Williams, Doris Dolan, Selmar Carmack, Pauline Cletus Jones,
and her ex-husband, Mr. Frank Scott of Wartburg. She leaves to celebrate her
life, two sons, Mr. John Franklin Morgan and wife, Mary Ellen of Madison
Hgts, Michigan, and Mr. Ricky Lynn Morgan and wife, Trease of Wartburg; one
daughter, Mrs. Eva Mae Hines and husband, Lawrence of Wartburg, also six
grandchildren, whom she loved dearly are Mrs. Cheryl Breannan, Mrs. Debbie
Teucher, and Mrs. Donna Smith, all of Michigan, Mr. Scott Hines of Wartburg,
and Joshua Lee and Talia Rachelle Morgan of Knoxville; five
great-grandchildren, Savannah and Shianne Hines, Connor Brennan, and Kyle and
Lucas Teucher, also numerous nieces and nephews, with special thanks to
Charles (Jake) Gregg and Alvin Carmack, her nephews who were there for her
almost everyday during her illness, and Trease Morgan for her special care.
Special friends were Mr. Arville (Cotton) Huckeby and Mrs. Geraldine Armes,
and all her friends at Brookwood Terrace Apartments. Her memory and wisdom
will live in our hearts forever. The family will receive friends Thursday,
September 5, 2002, from 6-8 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral
services will begin at 8 p.m. with Rev. John Owens officiating. A graveside
service will be held on Friday, 11 a.m. in Montgomery Cemetery.
