Brawley Lamond Cooper, 85, of Oak Ridge,
Ernest King, 79, of 96 Olney Lane,

BRAWLEY LAMOND COOPER, 85, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002 at
Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
He was born Dec. 4, 1916, in Lockhart, S.C., the son of James Walter Cooper
and Clara Bessie Quinton Cooper. He was the last survivor of his siblings
which included three brothers and six sisters.
Mr. Cooper has been a resident of Oak Ridge since 1944. He retired in 1975
from Union Carbide Nuclear Division. He worked at the Oak Ridge Gaseous
Diffusion Plant as an electrician.
He was the last charter member of the Oak Ridge Church of God, now known as
Heritage Fellowship. Mr. Cooper was very involved in many activities of the
church, especially those involving the senior members. He has also sang twice
a week at area nursing homes with a senior group from the church.
Mr. Cooper's family said he enjoyed walking and working crossword puzzles. He
was also very involved with his grandchildren and their activities.
His wife, Alma Lee Allen Cooper, died March 9, 1996.
He is survived by his son, Stephen L. Cooper and his wife, Tammy, of Newport
News, Va.; his daughter, Susan M. Sewell and her husband, Jay, of Oak Ridge;
his son-in-law, Gilbert M. Mills of Jacksonville, Fla.; and by 10
grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, parents and his brothers and sisters, Mr. Cooper was
preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Adair Mills, who died April 11, 2002.
The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at Heritage Fellowship
with the Rev. Fred Garmon officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, at Anderson
Memorial Gardens, 640 Oliver Springs Highway, Clinton.
The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to the
Senior Ministries of Heritage Fellowship Church, 121 N. Illinois Avenue, Oak
Ridge, TN 37830.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Weatherford Mortuary is handling the arrangements.

ERNEST KING, 79, of 96 Olney Lane, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002 at Methodist
Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mr. King was a member of the Tracey Branch Baptist Church in Whitley County,
Ky.
His family said he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and
great-grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He
also enjoyed working with his beagles.
Mr. King is survived by his wife, Patsy King; his daughter, Karen Sue
McFadden of Clarksville; his stepsons, Kenneth Claiborne of Yelp, Wash., and
Wayne Edward Claiborne of Bennettsville, S.C.; and his grandchildren, Steven
Ray McFadden and Kelley Elizabeth McFadden, both of Clarksville.
He is also survived by his step-grandchildren, Joseph Claiborne of Knoxville,
Patricia Coffey of Morristown, Vickie Tucker of South Carolina and Travis
Claiborne of Oak Ridge; his step-great-grandchildren, Katta Tucker and
Michael Tucker, both of South Carolina.
Also surviving are five brothers, Fate King and Billy King, both of Kentucky,
Snead King of Florida, Charles King of Knoxville and Ancil King of
Clairfield; three sisters, Naomi Wallace of Georgia, Betty Joe Fore of
Kentucky and Kleda Mae Thacker of LaFollette; and several nieces and nephews
and other relatives.
Mr. King was preceded in death by his first wife, June Parrott King; his
parents, Tom and Elsie Sowders King; and a brother, Elden King.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, in the chapel of
Martin Wilson Funeral Home in LaFollette with the Rev. Don Jordan
officiating.
Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in LaFollette.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Aug. 30, at the funeral
home.
