THOMAS CLAYTON ANDREWS, 71, of Graham, N.C., died on Aug. 6. He was born in
Morley. He was a member of the United States Marine Corps as a sergeant
during the Korean War and received the Korean Service Medal with three stars,
National Defense Medal, United Nations Services Medal and the south Korean
Service Medal and he was a member of the Belmont Baptist Church, the VFW Post
#10607 as well a member of the Masonic Lodge Post 193 and Shriner.
He was preceded in death by parents Robert T. and Parlee Massengill Andrews;
sister, Ruth Stivers of Louisville, Ky.
He is survived by wife, Iva Glass Andrews of Graham, N.C.; five children,
Teresa Andrews Sprinkle of Adren, Brenda Andrews Wampler of Graham, N.C.,
MSgt. Wayne Andrews of Hendersonville; sisters, Lois Dougherty of Indiana,
Sue Lasley of Tennessee and a brother, James Andrews of Tennessee.
Funeral services were held at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City in the
chapel. Interment was in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Lake City. In lieu of
flowers donations can be sent to the building fund for the Belmont Baptist
Church, at 3032 Bellemont-Mt. Hermon Road, Burlington, N.C. 27125 or Hospice
and Palliative Care of Alamance/Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington,
N.C. 27215.

HAZEL KIBLER BOSHEARS, 76, of LaFollette, died on Tuesday, Aug. 6, at U.T.
Medical Center in Knoxville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of
LaFollette and was retired from First National Bank after 47 years where she
served as vice president and was a volunteer at St. Mary's Medical Center of
Campbell County.
She was preceded in death by parents, S.V. and Olive McGhee Kibler, and
sister, Pearl Mehnert.
She is survived by sister Ruth Kibler of LaFollette; brother, Bob Kibler of
LaFollette.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 8, at Cross Funeral Home with Rev.
Lane Harris officiating. Interment was in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
Cross Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
IRA "Millard" BOWMAN, 80, of Monroe Township, died on Aug. 6. He was the
co-operator of Eddy's Gas and Oil and he served in the Marines from August
1942 to December 1945. He earned five battle stars and the Purple Heart
Citation, also attaining the rank of Master Sergeant and a member of the
Monroe Post 1138, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Monroe
Missionary Baptist Church and Sunday school class.
He was preceded in death by parents, Frank H. and Martha Jane (Hutson)
Bowman; brother, James G. Bowman and sister Fleeta Bowman.
He is survived by wife Margaret; daughters Cheryl Dorn of Monroe and Terry
McLendon of Princeton, N.J.; brothers Everett "Ted" Bowman of Alcoa, Tenn.,
and Frank H. Bowman of Tucson, Ariz.; sister Martha J. Peltan of Centerline,
Mich.; three grandchildren.
Burial was in the Roselawn Memorial Park and honor guard conducted the
services with Rev. Roy Southerland. Memorials may be made to the Monroe
Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund or Mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe.

RON CABLE, 89, of LaFollette, died on Sunday, Aug. 4. He was a member of the
Coolidge First Baptist Church. He was a member of LaFollette Masonic Lodge
#623 for 50 years and he was a captain of the Rescue Squad, worked at the
Campbell County Airport for several years and was a bus driver for the
Shriners driving children to the Lexington Hospital.
He was preceded in death by parents, brothers and sisters.
He is survived by wife Mary Helen Paul Cable of LaFollette; daughters Delores
McCulloch and Louise Benge, both of LaFollette, and Vickie Cable of
Knoxville; two granddaughters, two grandsons and six great-grandchildren;
brothers, Dennis Cable of Evansville, Ind., Hollis Cable of Hampton, Tenn.;
sisters, Ella Mae Dugger of Mountain City, Tenn. and Gladys Shuttle of
Hampton, Tenn.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, at the First Independent Baptist Church
with Rev. Clyde Ellison, Rev. H. Lee Ray and Pastor Lynn Ray officiating.
Interment was in the Woodlawn Cemetery and a Masonic Funeral followed.
Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
TED DAVIS, 96, of Crossville, died on July 25. He lived in Campbell County
and worked at New Jellico Coal Company in Morley and he was a member and
deacon of Vandever Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Leach Davis; son Joby R. Davis;
daughter Jerleen Hyden; two grandsons and one great-grandson.
He is survived by sons Kenneth Davis of Michigan, and Carl, Lawrence and
Edward Davis, all of Crossville; daughters Kathleen Powers of LaFollette, and
Gladys Wyatt, Joyce Davis, Glenna Taleor, and Janet Johnson, all of
Crossville; sister Rhonda Davenport of Kentucky, 35 grandchildren, 59
great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held July 27, at Bilbrey's Funeral Home with Brother C.
H. Christopher and Bro. Clyde Powers officiating.
Bilbrey's Funeral Home of Crossville was in charge of arrangements.
CHARLES EDGAR "Ed" DOUGLAS, 70, of Piqua, Ohio, died on Thursday, Aug. 8, at
the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. He was retired as a maintenance
Welder from Miami Industries Cooperweld following 33 years of employment. He
was a corporal in the United State Army having served during the Korean
conflict and was a member of the Norwood-Winton Masonic Lodge of Norwood, the
Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton and attended the First
Freewill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by parents Charlie and Mattie Lay Douglas; brother
Luther H. Douglas and sister Goldie Morgan.
He is survived by two sons, Arnold Douglas and Charles A. "Tony" Douglas,
both of Piqua; three grandchildren; sisters Vina Lou Helton, Evelyn Hutson,
Bessie Siler, all of Jellico, and Marie Key of Cleveland, Tenn.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 12, at the chapel of Harp Funeral
Home with Rev. Randy Douglas officiating. Masonic rites will be conducted by
the Jellico Lodge #527 F&AM. Graveside services were held Tuesday, Aug. 13,
at the Douglas Cemetery (Crouches Creek). Military honors was conducted by
the Campbell County Honor Guard.

PARIE GIBSON, 93, of Cumberland Gap, died on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at the family
residence.
She was preceded in death by parents E. Fuson and Jose Powers Fuson; son
Lealon Gibson; daughter Wilma Partin; five brothers and one sister.
She is survived by daughters Joann Edwards of Columbia Station, Ohio, Maxine
Brooks of Middlesboro, Ky., Imogene Teague of Cumberland Gap and Shirley King
of Eagan; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Cox and Son chapel with
Rev. Horace Partin and Rev. Floyd King officiating. Interment was in the
Fuson Cemetery at Frakes, Ky.

ANN LUCILLE HATMAKER, 80, of Caryville, died on Friday, Aug. 2, at her home.
She was a member of the Caryville Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by parents, Charles Arthur and Roxie (Jones)
Taylor; husband, William I. (Bill) Hatmaker.
She is survived by son, William Hatmaker of Waterford, Mich.; one
granddaughter and two grandsons; brothers, Lawrence Taylor of Caryville and
Lonzia Taylor of LaFollette.
Graveside services were held Friday, Aug. 9, at Poplar Creek Church Cemetery
in Marlow.
Cross Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
DELLA MAE (Bacon) HINCH, 83, of LaFollette, died on Sunday, Aug. 11, at the
St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a member of the
LaFollette Baptist Temple.
She was preceded in death by husband William Ed Hinch; parents Guy and Ollie
Stanford Bacon; brothers William and R. B. Bacon and sister Rae Moffett.
She is survived by sons Earl Hinch of Knoxville, Sam Hinch of Clinton, Al.,
John Hinch of Power Springs, Ga., Jack Hinch of LaFollette; seven
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers Clarence Bacon of
Detroit, Mich., and Albert Bacon of LaFollette; sister June Luttrell of
LaFollette.
Funeral services were held Tuesday in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral
Home with Rev. Charles Redmond officiating. Interment was in the Campbell
County Memorial Gardens.

MARY LOUISE HUDDLESTON, 75, of Little White Oak, died on Thursday, Aug. 8, at
St. Mary's Medical Center of Knoxville. She was a member of the Clairfield
Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by husband Roscoe Huddleston; parents Joe and Lucy
Blackwell King; brothers Ben King, Haggard King and Elkanah King; sister
Carmen Marlow.
She is survived by daughters Patricia "Pat" Bolton and Cathy Hughes; three
grandchildren; sisters Leona Douglas of Powell Valley, Bernice Hughes and
Evelyn Parrott of Duff; brother, L.C. King of Speedwell and Bruce King of
Jellico.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 11, at the White Oak Church of God
with Rev. Paul Cox and Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Interment was in the Odd
Fellow Cemetery.

VIRTAREE BROWN RUFFIN, 84, of LaFollette, died on Tuesday, Aug. 6, at St.
Mary's Health and Rehab Center. She was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist
Church and was retired from Campbell County school teacher.
She was preceded in death by husband Robert L. Ruffin; sister Odessa Mae
Allen.
She is survived by brother L. P. Brown Sr. of LaFollette.
Funeral services were held Saturday, at Cross Chapel with Rev. Larry Brinson
officiating. Interment was in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
Cross Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
EDWARD DONNIE "Don" PIERCE, 63, of Caryville, died Monday, at UT Medical
Center of Knoxville. He was a member of the Methodist faith and he was
retired from General Tire in Marion, Ind., and he was an owner and operator
of Scotty's Restaurant.
He was preceded in death by parents Ed and Pearl Henegar Pierce; sister Nina
Teague of LaFollette and brother, Jerry Pierce of Marion, Ind.
He is survived by wife Rebecca Miller Pierce.
Funeral services were held Thursday, at Roach Mortuary with Rev. David Bolton
and Rev. Bill Rains officiating. Interment was in the Well Spring Cemetery.
Roach Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
RUTH SHARP, 77, of Clinton Township, Mich., formerly of Campbell County, died
on Thursday, Aug. 8, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Clinton Township, Mich.
She was of the Methodist faith.
She was preceded in death by husband Rupert Sharp; parents Minton and Nadine
Reynolds; sister Lillian Smiddy; brother James H. Reynolds and stepsister
Joie Henegar.
She is survived by daughter Diana Bojanzyk of Fairfield Glade, Tenn.; one
granddaughter; sister Pearl Walden of Cincinnati, Ohio; step-brothers Lewis
Reynolds, J. Will Reynolds and Charles Reynolds, all of LaFollette;
step-sisters, Thelma Jean Reynolds of LaFollette, and Judith Humphery of
Verona, Ky.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, at Walters Chapel with Rev. Kevin Cole
officiating. Interment was in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The family requests that
in lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the McKendree Village
Foundation, 4343 Lebanon Road, Hermitage, TN 37076.

STACY MYERS YOAKUM, 95, of LaFollette, died on Thursday, Aug. 8, at St.
Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a faithful member of the
Fincastle United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School, was a leader of
youth fellowship, and served as devotion leader in the United Methodist
women's group for many years.
She was preceded in death by husband Henry Yoakum; parents Monroe and Annie
Bell Myers; brothers Henry, John, Arlie, and Charlie Myers and sister Cloeva
Proffitt.
She is survived by daughter Anna Ruth Roach of McDonald, Tenn.; three
grandsons, one granddaughter, five great-grandsons and one
great-granddaughter; sisters, Jessie Prater, Evelyn McCullah, Blanche
Brantley; brother Edward Myers.
Funeral services were held Sunday, at Fincastle United Methodist Church with
Rev. Kevin Cole officiating. Interment was in the Fincastle Cemetery. The
family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made at the Fincastle
United Methodist Church Building Fund.
