BABB, MATTIE ARDALIE - age 86 of LaFollette, passed away Monday, August 19,
2002 at her home. She was of the Methodist faith. Ms. Babb was a school
teacher and a librarian for 42 years with the Campbell County School System.
Preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Rachel (Conley) Babb. Survivors:
sister, Conley Price, LaFollette and a host of nieces and nephews and a host
of dear friends. Funeral services 2 p.m. Saturday, August 24, at Cross
Funeral Home Chapel Rev. Larry Erinson officiating. Interment Sharp Cemetery
(Longhollow Community) The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Friday August
23, at Cross Chapel. Arrangements by Cross Funeral Home.
HAWKINS, WILLIAM - age 44, of Briceville, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday,
August 21, 2002 at his residence. He was a member of Shultz Baptist Church.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved to work on cars. He
was preceded in death by his mother, Iva Jean Marlow Wilson and a sister,
Ellie Jean Hawkins. Survivors: wife of 15 years, Susan Ann Seiber Hawkins of
Briceville; sons, William Dustin Hawkins and Joshua Michael Hawkins, both of
Briceville; daughters, Valetta Gail Miller and husband, Nathan, of Knoxville,
Tasha Cooper and Alisha Cooper of Clinton; grandchildren, Natalie Miller of
Knoxville, Toby Bolinger and Joshua Cooper, both of Clinton; father, Paul
Hawkins of McMinnville, TN; grandmother, Gladys Cody of Lake City;
mother-in-law, Margaret Seiber of Lake City; sisters, Brenda Southerland and
husband, Anthony, of Georgia, Michelle Harris of Wisconsin, Darlene Curtis of
Johnson City, TN, Phyllis Byrd and husband, Roland, of Clinton, Ruth McGhee
and husband, David, of Lake City, Mamie Sweeney and husband, Austin, of
Georgia, Glena Braden and husband, David, of Georgia; brothers, Lynn Hawkins
and wife, Barbara, of Lake City, James Hawkins of Clinton, Paul Hawkins, Jr.
of Briceville and Ike Hawkins of McMinnville; a host of other relatives and
friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 23, 2002 from
6:00-9:00 p.m. at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City. The funeral
service will be Saturday, August 24, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Mack Marlow and Rev. Edward
Seiber officiating. Interment will follow in the Sulphur Springs Cemetery in
Dutch Valley. Holley- Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City in charge of all
arrangements.
REYNOLDS, REV. J. WILL - age 63 of Duff, passed away Thursday, August 22,
2002 at UT Medical Center, Knoxville. He was a member of the Duff Baptist
Church and retired from Dixie Roofing Company. Preceded in death by his
parents, Lewis Minton Reynolds and Linda Bruce Reynolds; sisters, Joie
Henegar, Ruth Sharp, and Lillian Smiddy and by brother, James H. Reynolds.
Survivors: wife, Mrs. Polly Reynolds of Duff; daughter, Lisa Seiber and
husband, Mark of Caryville; sons, Jason Reynolds and wife, Wendy of
Jacksboro, Jerry Lee Reynolds and wife, Carol of Jacksboro, and Jeffrey Todd
Reynolds of Knoxville; nine grandchildren; sisters, Thelma Jean Reynolds of
Caryville, Judy Humphrey of Verona, Ky. and Pearl Walden of Cincinnati, Ohio;
brothers, Lewis Reynolds, Lonnie Reynolds, David Reynolds, Donald Reynolds
and Charles Reynolds, all of LaFollette; several nieces, nephews and other
relatives and friends. Funeral services Friday 8 p.m. at Walters Chapel with
Rev. Donald Allen, Rev. Jim Wilcox and Rev. Jeff Bullock officiating. The
family and friends will meet Saturday 10 a.m. at Bakers Forge Cemetery for
interment. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday before
services at Walters Funeral Home. Walter Funeral Home, LaFollette in charge
of arrangements.
TERRY, WILLIAM "BILL" - age 82, of Maryville, died Wednesday, August 21,
2002, at Maryville Healthcare Center. He was a member of Liberty Baptist
Church in Wartburg, Tenn., American Legion Post 149 in Wartburg, Tenn.,
Veteran of the United States Army during World War II, serving in the Pacific
and Asia. Mr. Terry was an avid gunsmith. He retired from ALCOA after 43
years of service and was a member of their 25-Year Club. Preceded in death by
parents, Carl and Ella Bridges Terry; four brothers and one sister. Survivors
include wife of 60 years, Katherine Kelly Terry; brother, Clyde Terry of
Knoxville; sisters, Gertrude Redmon of Wartburg, Geneva Scott of Knoxville,
and Mescal McPeters of Wartburg; sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Jesse
Kirby of Powell, Mary Martha and Bob Herd of Morristown. Funeral Service will
be 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 23, 2002, in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary
with Dr. Bob Brown officiating. Entombment to follow at Sherwood Memorial
Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 p.m.
