FOUST, CHLOE REED - age 94, departed this life Tuesday, August 13, 2002, to
join the Lord and loved ones who departed before and to await those of us
left behind. She was born June 9, 1908, in Campbell County, Tennessee. Chloe
was the oldest living member of the Main Street Baptist Church in Lake City.
She worked for Magnet Mills for many years in Clinton and Lake City. Later,
she worked in the lunch room at the Lake City Elementary School until her
retirement. She is now in Heaven where her suffering is over. We will miss
her very much. She was lovingly cared for by Sue Foust and Mary Williams. She
is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mossie Landrum Reed; husband,
Kelly Foust; daughter, Faye Adkins; sisters, Hope, Buelah, and Lena, and her
brother, Finley. Survivors: daughters and sons-in-law, Louise and Maurice
Hartnett of Aiken, S.C., and Helen and L. R. Morton of Aiken, S.C.; daughter,
Janet Adkins of Mooresville, N.C.; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and
Jean Foust of Lake City, and James and Carol Foust of Columbia, S.C.; son,
John Foust of Lake City, Tenn.; sister, Gertrude Smith of Lake City; brother
and sister-in-law, Jack and Nadine Reed of Lake City; 17 grandchildren; 27
great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren. Visitation 6-8 p.m.
Friday, August 16, 2002, at the Main Street Baptist Church in Lake City,
Tenn. Funeral service 8 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2002, at the Main Street
Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Phillips and Rev. Don Martin officiating.
Interment 11 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2002, at the Island Ford Cemetery in
Lake City, Tenn. Cox-Martin Funeral Home, in charge of arrangements.
JOHNSON, ELSIE A. - age 91, of Oak Ridge, formerly of South Knoxville, went
to be with the Lord, Monday, August 12, 2002, at the home of her sister,
Elizabeth Beeler. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and retired
from Hamilton National Bank. Preceded in death by husband, Stephen M.
Johnson; parents, George Arthur and Osie Mae Altom, and brother, Noel Altom.
Survivors include sister, Elizabeth Beeler, and several nieces, nephews, and
other relatives. Funeral service Friday, 2:00 p.m., Mt. Olive Baptist Church,
with Rev. Deron Cobb officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive
Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Friday at Mt.
Olive Baptist Church, Maryville Pike. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home,

PINAJIAN, DR. JOHN JOSEPH - age 80, of Oak Ridge, died Saturday, August 10,
2002, at his home. Naval Veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Retired
ORNL, X-10, where he specialized in Cyclotron Isotope Development Research.
Survived by loving wife of 54 years, Harriet; son and daughter-in-law,
Cornelius and Peggy Pinajian of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Anne Baker of
California, Virginia Clark and brother, Paul Pinajian, both of New Jersey.
Mr. Pinajian was an avid collector of books, stamps and toy soldiers and he
had a great love of reading, gardening and the Atlanta Braves. Family and
friends will meet at the Church of the Ascension, 800 Northshore Dr.,
Knoxville, at 9:45 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Eucharist on Friday, August 16,
2002, followed by a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. at the Tennessee
Veteran's Cemetery, 5901 Lyons View Rd., Knoxville, which is adjacent to the
church. Military honors will be provided by the Volunteer State War Era Honor
Guard. The family asks, any memorial contributions be made to Covenant
Hospice, 700 S. Illinois Avenue, Suite A-202, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.

TURNER, NELL TAYLOR - age 83, of 155 Davis Road, LaFollette, passed away
Monday, August 12, 2002, at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She
was of the Christian faith and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star
of LaFollette. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Hobert Turner,
Sr.; son, Meade Leon Turner; parents, William Billy and Lottie Lasley Taylor;
brother, Meade Taylor and sister, Nora Thomas. Mrs. Turner is survived by son
and daughter-in-law, Frank Hobert, Jr. and Ketisha "Jan" Turner of Dandridge,
Tenn.; daughters and sons-in-law, Berty and Dale Daniels of Knoxville, and
Jean and Ben Slate of Mesquite, Texas; six grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside
services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday in Fincastle United Methodist Cemetery
with Brother Carl Bradshaw officiating. The family will receive friends from
6-8 p.m. Thursday night at Martin-Wilson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the
family asks that donations be made to The American Heart Association.
VANN, ODESSA - age 66, a resident of Oliver Springs, Tenn., passed away at
her home Wednesday, August 14, 2002. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at
this time. Sharp Funeral Home, in charge of arrangements.
