ENNIS IRA BAIRD, 55, of LaFollette, died on Tuesday, June 4, at St. Mary's
Medical Center of Campbell County.
He was preceded in death by father Homer Baird and sister Rosetta Baird.
He is survived by mother Irene Baird of East Lake, Ohio; son Dennis Baird;
daughter Vickie Staab; brother, Farley Baird of East Like, Ohio; one
granddaughter.
Funeral services were held at Cross Chapel and then proceed to Broyles Chapel
Church of God at Stinking Creek for funeral services with Rev. Pat Ayers
officiating. Interment was in the Gibson Cemetery in Stinking Creek Community.
Cross Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
CHARLES T. BRADSHAW, 81, of Indiana died on Sunday, June 9, at his home.
He was preceded in death by parents John C. Bradshaw and Goldie Vowell and
one sister.
He is survived by wife Edna M. Perry; sons Roy Bradshaw of Lake Village,
Ind., Anthony Bradshaw of Portage, Ind.; daughter Teresa Bradshaw of Aurora,
Ill.; brothers, James Bradshaw of Clinton, Carl Bradshaw of LaFollette, and
Kenneth E. Bradshaw of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Wilma Hill of LaFollette; 14
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 11, with Pastor Gene Taylor
officiating. Interment was held in Roselawn Cemetery.

ROY BRANAM, 61, of Chatsworth, Ga., died on June 5 at his residence.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Branam.
He is survived by wife Elizabelle Branam of Chatsworth; sons Charles Branam
of Chatsworth, Tony Branam of Rocky Face and Andy Branam of Chatsworth;
daughter Carrie Smith of Chatsworth; eight grandchildren; sisters Barbara
Henry of South Bend, Ind., Shirley Bohacyk of Harrisburg, Penn., Louise Cox
of Salem, Ky.; brothers Jessie Branam of Salem, Ky., and Harold Bebout,
Harrisburg, Ill.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 9, from the chapel of Harp Funeral
Home in Jellico. Interment was in the Bairds Cemetery.
Harps Funeral Home in Jellico and Shawn Chapman Funeral Home in Chatsworth,
Ga., was in charge of arrangements.
HUGHVON WILLIAM FOUST, 77, of LaFollette, died on Monday, June 3, at St.
Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. He was a member of the Fincastle
United Methodist Church and he was a World War II veteran who served three
years in Alaska.
He was preceded in death by parents Harvey and Lila Allen Foust; one brother,
Gillis Foust, and two sisters, Willene Blanton and Addie Richardson.
He is survived by wife Helen Foust of LaFollette; daughter Delores Beaty of
Speedwell and Shelia Lynn Smith of Dayton, Ohio; two grandsons, two
granddaughters, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Friday in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home
with Rev. David Lord officiating. Interment was in the Ponds Cemetery.

JOHN GOINS, 81, of LaFollette, died on Thursday, June 6, at St. Mary's of
Knoxville. He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church were he served as
deacon, adult choir leader and adult Sunday school teacher for many years. He
retired from the State of Tennessee, having worked at Cove Lake State Park
for many years.
He was preceded in death by parents Emmitt and Nora (Smith) Goins, two sons,
Ronnie Goins and Stevie Wayne Goins, and three brothers, Lloyd (Buck) Goins,
Don Goins and Homer Goins.
He is survived by wife Lois Goins of LaFollette; sons Jimmy Goins of
LaFollette, Ricky Goins of Jacksboro and Jerry Goins of Knoxville; daughter
Sandy Freeman of LaFollette; sisters Ann Goins, Dean Jones and Naomi, all of
LaFollette; brothers Clayton Goins and Clifford Goins of LaFollette.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 9, at Bethlehem Baptist Church with
Rev. Bill Braden and Rev. Ronnie Freeman officiating. Interment was in the
Bethlehem Cemetery.

OZELLA (Ode) GROSS, 73, of Jellico, died on Thursday, June 6 at Beechtree
Manor in Jellico.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Gross; son, James Cecil King;
sister, Novella Gross Wilson; four brothers, Wiley (Buck) Gross, E. J. Gross,
Jack Gross and Riley Gross.
He is survived by son Wayne King of Whitley City, Ky.; daughters Lillie
Arrowood of Lexington, Ky., Laura Rigney of Jellico, Rosie Jarnigan of
Jellico and Novella Brooks of Jellico; brother Harry Gross of Loyal, Ky.; 13
grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 8, at the chapel of Harp Funeral
Home with Rev. Durand Dixon officiating. Interment was in the Douglas
Cemetery.

CHARLES (Chalk) HALCOMB, 76, of Stinking Creek Community died on Thursday,
May 23, at St. Mary's of Campbell County in LaFollette.
He was preceded in death by wife Jesse James Halcomb; an infant son; grandson
Derrick Campbell; parents Summitt and Flemmie Halcomb; sisters Rosie Ayers,
Evia Douglas, and Cora Ayers.
He is survived by son Charles Anthony Halcomb of Indianapolis; stepson Monroe
Baker of Indianapolis; daughters Eleanor Flathers of Danville, Ind., Janet
Wilson of Indianapolis, Ind., Marilyn Fisher of Danville, Ind., Judy Campbell
of Stinking Creek; stepdaughter Cindy England of Greenfield, Ind.; sister
Marie Hicks of Stinking Creek; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren
and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 25, at Harp Funeral Home Chapel with
Rev. Delmus Bruce officiating. Interment was in the Davis Cemetery.

EARSIE MAY HANILTON, 88, of Jacksboro, formerly of Duff, died on Saturday,
June 8, at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a member of
Wynn Community Church.
She was preceded in death by husband York Hamilton; parents Sam and Nannie
Leffew and brother James Samuel Hamilton.
She is survived by son, Wilburn Hamilton of Sidney, Ohio; daughter Barbara
Ford of Jacksboro; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one
great-great grandchild; sister Edith Harrington of Duff.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 11, at Cross Funeral Home with Rev.
Wesley Dupey and Rev. Dave Carroll officiating. Interment was in the Campbell
County Memorial Gardens.

JOHN WESLEY HENNING, 64, of LaFollette, died on Tuesday, June 4, at the Ft.
Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. He was of the Baptist faith and
was employed for Johnson and Galyon Construction Company for 15 years.
He was preceded in death by son James (Jimbo) Henning; parents, Dotson and
Elsie McGhee Henning; brother Billy Henning.
He is survived by wife Faye Henning; son Gene Henning, both of LaFollette;
sister Patricia Yates of Batesville, Miss.
Funeral services were held Thursday in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral
Home with Rev. Sonny Longmire and Rev. Kenny Cox officiating. Interment was
in the Baker's Forge Cemetery.

LULA IRENE MARTIN, 74, of Jacksboro, died on Friday morning at St. Mary's
Medical Center of LaFollette.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, James L. and Helen
Wilson; brothers, Bobby and L. V. Mowell and son, Don Lee Martin.
She is survived by her husband, Earl T. Martin of Jacksboro; one son, Earl
David Martin of Jacksboro, and two daughters, Helen Jean Nelson of Jacksboro
and Linda Gardner of Hiram, Ga.; and four grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 8, with Rev. Howard Tapp
officiating. Interment was in Willoughby Cemetery.

ROBERT EARNEST RIFFEY, 66, of Caryville, died on Monday, June 10, at his home.
He was preceded in death by parents Sherman and Nannie Riffey and one brother.
He is survived by daughters Mary Seabver of Stewartstown, Penn., Christel
Hickman of LaFollette; sons Robert E. Riffey of Baltimore, Md., Sherman
Riffey of LaFollette, and Eric Riffey of Lenior City; sisters Dottie Joe
Roberts of Benson, N.C., Betty Herring of Lebanon, Ind., Mary Shatzman of
Speedwell; and seven grandchildren.
The body was cremated and returned to Maryland.
Roach Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
FRED ST. JOHN, 65, of LaFollette, died on Tuesday, June 11, at the Sunbridge
Nursing Home. He was a member of the Covenant Life Worship Center and was a
U.S. Air Force veteran.
He was preceded in death by parents Ernest and Minnie Carroll St. John.
He is survived by wife, Edna Lee St. John of LaFollette; brothers Erine St.
John of Knoxville and Howard St. John of LaFollette.
Funeral services were held Wednesday in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral
Home with Rev. Tony McAfee and brother Joey St. John officiating. Interment
was in the Sunrise Cemetery with full Military honors by the Campbell County
Honor Guard.

FREDA JOYCE WELLS, 72, of Jacksboro, died on Sunday, June 9, at St. Mary's
Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a member of the Indiana Avenue
Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by husband R. L. Wells; daughter Shelby Jean
Caldwell and parents Louie Luster and Elizabeth Johnson Caldwell.
She is survived by sons Ronnie and Richard Wells, both of Canton, Ga.;
daughter Brenda Partin of Clearfield; seven grandchildren; five
step-grandchildren; brothers Jr. Caldwell and Leon Caldwell, both of
LaFollette, and Deleno Caldwell of Caryville; sisters Geneva Givens of
Canton, Ga., and Zane Ann Evans of Caryville.
Funeral services were held Wednesday in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral
Home with Rev. Waylon Mason and Rev. Wayne Maiden officiating. Interment was
in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

ELSIE MAE CORBIN age 89 of LaFollette, the widow of the late Norman Russell
Corbin Sr. passed away Friday, June 7, 2002 at the National Health Care in
Oak Ridge. She was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Corbin enjoyed
her church, telling stories of her life to her Grandchildren, crocheting,
watching the Braves Baseball games and reading her Bible. She loved her
family very much.
Preceded in death besides husband a daughter June Hannah Corbin and a infant
son. Parents Eli and Lizzie Mason Sparks. Brother: Sherman Sparks. Sisters:
Pearl Shoffner, Ethel Luttrell, Margaret Barringer, and Mary Hubbard.
Survived by sons and daughters in law: Frank Edward and Rafphine Corbin of
Perry Hill, MD. Donald Ray and Sharon Corbin of Cleveland, TN and son: Norman
Russell Corbin Jr. of Knoxville. Daughter and Son in Law: Joyce and Edward
Trowbridge of Powell, TN. 10 Grandchildren: Sharon and Randy Morrow, Edward
Trowbridge Jr. Kristi and Joey Anderson. Autum Wallace, Franklin Corbin.
Stephanie Boles. Norman Corbin III, Lori Corbin, Robin and Tim McClenahan,
Michelle and Don Shinbaugh, Donald and Holli Corbin, 18 Great Grandchildren:
Travis and Tyler Morrow, Tiffany, Terica, Alex Trowbridge, Ragan and Rylee
Anderson, Machenzie Wallace, bobby, Steven, and Jessie Libby, Norman Corbin
IV, Nicholas and Anna McClenahan, Lauren Corbin, Jaden Corbin, Logan and Leah
Shinbaugh. Several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and
friends.
Funeral Services will be 8 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2002 in Martin Wilson Chapel
with Rev. Ronnie Arnold officiating. Interment will be 11 am Monday in
Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Sunday
night before services.

ETHEL VANN, age 88 passed away Sunday, May 26, 2002 at St. John-Oak-Lane
Hospital in Madison Heights, Mich. Mrs. Vann was a 23 year resident of
LaFollette and a member of the Eastern Star, and a member of East LaFollette
Baptist Church. Dear mother of Donna (Guilford) Houk of Sterling Heights,
Mich., Betty Whitted of Rockford, Ohio, Fred (Gloria) Vann of Rockford, Ohio,
and the late John Vann, Jr. (1987) and Franklin Vann (2001); 17
grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sister of
Jess Davis of Feather Falls, Calif., Hazel White of Monroeville, Ohio, Mary
Haynes of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Nena Pearl Proctor of LaFollette, Tenn., Laverne
Atchley of Crossville, Tenn., Bobby Davis of El Paso, TX., Kathleen Byrge of
Crossville, Tenn., and the late Clifford Davis, Bill Davis, Charles Davis,
and John L. Davis. Mrs. Vann was the daughter of the late Edgar Davis and
Nellie (Noe) Davis of LaFollette.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday in the Sunrise Cemetery. The family
will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday night before the funeral services.
