ARNOLD HENRY AMOS, age 93, of Jacksboro, formerly of Vasper, died Sunday, May
5, at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. He was of the Baptist
faith and a long-time coal miner.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Iona Amos; infant daughter Billie
Joann; parents Henry and Anna Amos; sisters Mildred Dabney and Wilma Johnson;
brothers Randall, Leon, Harold, Howard and Clayton Amos.
He is survived by daughters Betty Eastwood, of Jacksboro and Pat Byrd of
Chapel Hill, Tenn.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister Jean
Beach of Florida.
Funeral services were Tuesday, May 7, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral
Home, Lake City, with Brother Lane Harris officiating.
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home of Lake City was in charge of arrangements.

CHARLES "Chuck" BERRY,age 76, of Speedwell, died Monday, May 6, at Claiborne
County Hospital. He worked 39 years at the Middlesboro Tanning Company and
was a member of Free Liberty Primitive Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by parents Joseph Lafayette and Grace Hunter Berry;
sister Mary Smith; three brothers, J.B., Earnest and Millard Berry; 12
half-brothers and sisters.
He is survived by wife Sybl June Maddox Berry, of Speedwell; son Stanley
Berry of Sharps Chapel; brother Floy "Tip" Berry, of Rose Hill, Va.; sisters
Doris Edwards of Speedwell and Dalis Bolton of LaFollette.
Funeral services were Tuesday, May 7, at Reece Valley Chapel, with Elder
Ellis Lynn and Elder Darrell Clabough officiating. Graveside services were
Wednesday, May 8, at Hunter Cemetery, with Elder Glen Davis presiding.
Reece Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

DAVID ANDREW DAUGHERTY, age 28, of Chambers Subdivision, Jacksboro, died
Wednesday, May 1, at his home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ronnie Andrew Daugherty;
grandparents, Andy Daugherty and Carl Carden.
He is survived by brothers Eric and Chris Daugherty, both of Jacksboro;
mother Cathy Daugherty; sisters Lisa Chambers of LaFollette and Natasha
Herron of Jacksboro; grandmothers, Gladys Bradshaw, of Norris and Nora
Daugherty of Jacksboro and step-father Steve Wilson.
Funeral services were Sunday, May 5, in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral
Home, with Reverend Donald Shown officiating. Interment was Monday, May 6, in
Cumberland View Cemetery.

GLADYS WILLOUGHBY GOINS, age 84, of LaFollette, died Sunday, May 5, at St.
Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a member of First Baptist
Church, Coolidge, and a retired schoolteacher with 40 years' teaching
experience.
She was preceded in death by husband Albert Goins; brother Ernest Willoughby;
sisters Pernie Miller and Bonnie Kate Wright.
She is survived by brother Ed Willoughby of LaFollette; sister Elsa Aiken of
Gallatin, Tenn.
Funeral services were May 8 at Cross Funeral Home, with Reverend Casper "Tip"
Moore officiating. Interment will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 9, at
Fincastle Cemetery.
Cross Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

HARVEY GREEN, age 72, of Speedwell, died May 4.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Green; sister Lutisha Joseph;
brother Charlie Whitt.
He is survived by wife Polly Williams Green of Speedwell; mother Barbara
York, of Harlan, Ky.; sons Billy Green of Jeff, Ky., and Benny Green of
Speedwell.; daughters Margie Huff and Linda Kilgore of Speedwell, Sandril
Looney of Kingsport, Tenn., Gladys Ruth Pungratz, of Georgetown, Ky.,
Patricia Brock, of Berea, Ky.; brother Earl Chappell of Big Laurel, Ky.; 10
grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday, May 7, at Reece Valley Chapel, with Reverend
DeWayne (Kojack) Graves and Reverend Gary Cunningham officiating.
Reece Funeral Home and Valley Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

J.S. IVEY, 74, of the Black Oak Community, Williamsburg, Ky., died Tuesday,
April 30, at Jellico Community Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Ivey; son Steve Ivey;
daughter Tina Ledford; and parents Horace and Lillie Ivey.
He is survived by three sons, Gary Ivey of Cincinnati and Kenneth Ivey and
Robert Ivey, both of LaFollette; one daughter, Clara Perkins of Jellico; one
brother, George Ivey of Jellico; two sisters, Shirley Violet of Cincinnati
and Patsy Cuel of Jellico; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, May 3, at Harp Funeral Home with Rev. Billy
Carpenter officiating. Interment was in Huddleston Cemetery.
Harp Funeral Home of Jellico was in charge of arrangements.

CONLEY KENNEDY, age 82, of 401 E. Prospect St., LaFollette, died Tuesday,
April 30, at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. He was a member of
the Central Baptist Church of Caryville and worked at the Cumberland Crossing
Shopping Center.
He was preceded in death by parents Mark and Roeni Bunch Kennedy; sister
Kattie Ward; brothers Kyle, McKinnley, Kelly and Corn Kennedy.
He is survived by wife Hazel Kennedy of LaFollette; sister Callie Kennedy of
Petros.
Funeral services were Friday, May 3, in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral
Home, with Reverend J.T. Leach and Reverend Joby Byrge officiating. Interment
followed in Campbell Memorial Gardens.

LARKIN W. KEYES, age 83, of 326 Hickory Lane, Jacksboro, died Saturday, April
20, at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. He was a member of the
First Baptist Church of Pineville, Ky., and a veteran of the U.S. Army, WWII.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Juda Howard Keyes;
sisters Edith Woolum and Ruby Keyes.
He is survived by wife Beatrice Keyes; daughter Brenda Vowell; two grandsons.
Funeral services were Monday, April 22, in the Martin Wilson Chapel, with
Reverend Lynn Ray officiating. Interment was Tuesday, April 23, in Bakers
Forge Cemetery, with full military honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard.

MILDRED KITE, age 73, of Lake City, of the Oak Grove Community, died
Thursday, May 2, at the Lake City Healthcare Center. She was a member of the
Oak Grove Baptist Church in Lake City.
She was preceded in death by her daughters, Linda Svendsen and Gail Marie
Kite; parents Ernest and Della Mae Martin; sister Irene Martin; brothers J.
Roy and Ulyss Martin.
She is survived by husband, James Kelly Kite, of Lake City; daughters, Pat
Houtsinger, of Brooklyn, Wisc., and Judy Kite, of Arizona; son Kenneth Kite
of Harriman; sisters Thelma Grace Nolan of Oak Ridge and ErnestLou Neu of
Knoxville; brothers Leon Martin of Oak Ridge, Cecil Martin of Clinton and
Robert Luther Martin of Wisconsin; four grandchildren and one
great-grandchild.
Funeral services were Sunday, May 5, in the chapel of the Holley-Gamble
Funeral Home in Lake City. Interment was Monday, May 6, at the Oak Grove
Cemetery in Lake City.

ANGELA DARLENE MILLER, age 34, of LaFollette, died Wednesday, May 1. She was
a member of Covenant Life Church.
She was preceded in death by grandparents Ed Miller, Amos and Mary Sue Miller.
She is survived by son, Eric Seth Miller; mother Linda Miller; father and
step-mother Kenneth and Debra Miller; brother Jeffrey Scott Miller, all of
LaFollette; sister Sheila Rector of Jacksboro; grandmother, Ruby Miller of
LaFollette.
Funeral services were Sunday, May 5, at Walters Chapel with Reverend Tommy
Reese officiating. Interment was Monday, May 6, at Bakers Forge Cemetery.

IRENE WILSON, age 68, of LaFollette, died Monday, May 6, at Sunbridge Care
and Rehabilitation. She was a member of Demory Baptist Church.
She is survived by daughter Joyce Brown; three grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren; brothers, Howard Nelson, Frank Nelson, J.C. Nelson, and
Harace Nelson, all of LaFollette.
Funeral services were Tuesday, May 7, at Bakers Forge Cemetery, with Reverend
Don Reynolds officiating.
Cross Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

JEANNE PATTERSON, age 64, died at her home in Slemp, Ky., on April 27.
She is survived by her husband, David Patterson, of Slemp, Ky.; mother Geneva
Davis of LaFollette; daughters Teresa Huff of Little Leatherwood, Ky., Pattie
Smith of Combs, Ky.; brother Ronnie Davis of Middletown, Ohio; sisters
Margaret Taylor of LaFollette, Clydia Yeary of Shephardsville, Ky., Louise
Carroll, of LaFollette; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Maggard Funeral Home of Hazard, Ky., with
Reverend Donnie Coots officiating. Interment was in Little Leatherwood
Community Cemetery at Little Leatherwood, Ky.

FONCY BREWER TURNER QUEENER, age 88, of LaFollette, died Saturday, May 4, at
St. Mary's Health and Rehab Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church
of St. Charles, Va., and retired from Imperial Reading in LaFollette after 25
years' service.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert Turner and second
husband, John F. Queener.
She is survived by daughters Marie Lane and Martha Grant, both of LaFollette;
three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday, May 7, at Cross Chapel, with Reverend Ronnie
Arnold officiating. Interment followed on Wednesday, May 8, at Woodlawn
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to East Tennessee Chapter
Alzheimers Association, P.O. Box 10088-9910, Knoxville, TN 37939.

VERNEY O. SHARP, age 82, of Lake City, in the Oak Grove Community, died
Monday, May 6, at her residence. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Bertha Hatmaker Sharp;
seven brothers.
She is survived by sister Pernie Carylee Martin of Lake City.
Funeral services were Wednesday, May 8, at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in
Lake City. Interment is today, May 9, at 11 a.m., in the Oak Grove Cemetery
in Lake City.

FOISTER SHELTON, age 78, of Jacksboro, died Thursday, May 2, at Methodist
Medical Center, Oak Ridge. He was retired from National Cash Register.
He was preceded in death by parents Sterling and Calestine Bruce Shelton.
He is survived by wife Onilda (Patsy) Shelton of Jacksboro; daughters Ruby
Shelton Gibson of Yorktown, Penn., Christy L. Shelton of Springboro, Ohio;
sisters Laura Sharp, Jessie Shelton, and Sarah Evans, all of Caryville;
brothers, Burton Shelton, Bergen Shelton, Johnny Shelton and Pete Shelton,
all of Caryville, Don Shelton, of Jacksboro and Oscar Shelton, of Michigan.
Funeral services were Sunday, May 5, at the Cox and Son Chapel, with Reverend
Charles Noss and Reverend Thelmo Cox officiating. Interment was in the
Douglas Cemetery.

BOBBY GENE WILSON, 70, of LaFollette, died on Monday, May 6, at the East
Tennessee Baptist Hospital. He was of the Baptist Faith.
He was preceded in death by grandson Dale Leach; parents Frank Sr. and Ruby
Lee Maupins Wilson.
He is survived by wife Shirley Wilson of LaFollette; son David Wilson of
LaFollette; daughters, Karen Sue Miller of Franklin, Ky., Sandra Kay Cook of
LaFollette, Sharon Gail Leach of LaFollette, five grandchildren; brothers Joe
and Don Wilson of LaFollette, Charles and Frank Wilson Jr. of Jacksboro;
sisters Mary Heatherly, Clara Raynor, Brenda Wilson, Martha McCarty and Linda
Jacobs, all of LaFollette.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May7, at Grantsboro Cemetery with Pastor
Allen Shepherd officiating.

PENNY LIVELY WILSON, age 33, of LaFollette, formerly of Beech Grove, died
Sunday, May 4, at her residence. She attended the Covenant Life Worship
Center of Lake City.
She is survivors by her mother, Phyllis Lively, of Sacramento, Calif.; father
Larry Lively, of Lake City; sons, Michael Keith Wilson and Justin Dewayne
Wilson, both of LaFollette; daughters Cami Lynn Wilson and Asya Lee Bensperg,
both of LaFollette; brothers J.C. Lively of Lake City, James "Bo" Lively, of
Sacramento, Calif.; sister Angela Sue Moon of Clinton, Tenn.
Funeral services are Friday, May 10, at the Covenant Life Worship Center, of
Lake City, with Reverend Tony McAfee and Laura Taylor officiating. Interment
will follow the funeral service at the Beech Grove Cemetery, Lake City, Tenn.

ALMA VIOLA WRIGHT, age 80, of 413 Janeway Lane, Jacksboro, died Friday, May
3, at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a member of
the First Baptist Church of Jacksboro.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Wright; parents, Hez
Franklin and Susan Frances Vinsant Shown; three sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by sons Bobby Wright of Caryville, Johnny Wright of Loudon,
Tenn., George Wright Jr. of Jacksboro; daughters Peggy Wright of Jacksboro,
Judy Molnar of Sweetwater, Tenn., Betty Boshears, of LaFollette; eight
grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brothers Hope Shown and Curtis Shown;
sister Ruth Lindsay, all of Jacksboro.
Funeral services were Saturday, May 4, in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral
Home, with Dr. Charles Parker and Reverend Billy Smith officiating. Interment
was Sunday, May 5, in Indian Creek Cemetery.

LAWTON D. " boy" WRIGHT, age 74, of 711 Rose Hill Drive, LaFollette, died
Saturday, May 4, 2002 at his home. He was a member of Covenant Life Church of
Lake City and a veteran of WWII. He was an employee of Royal Lunch for 40
years.
He was preceded in death by wife Dorothy Wright; son D. boy Wright; daughter
Mary Jane Phillips; grandson Steven Lynn Brown; parents B. Wright and Jane
Byrd Wright; three brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by son James "Bubby" Wright; daughters, Nova Jean Brown,
Teressa K. Bourff, Christy Inman, all of LaFollette, and Cindy Tinnel of
Jacksboro; sister Nova Wright of LaFollette; 12 grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday, May 7, at Martin Wilson Chapel, with Reverend
Tony McAfee and Reverend Asbury Byrd officiating. Interment followed at
Woodlawn Cemetery, with full military honors by the Campbell County Honor
Guard.
