RONALD LEE BAIRD, age 59, of LaFollette, died Friday, April 26, at Methodist
Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
He was of the Baptist faith, a member of the N.R.A., a Mason and Shriner in
Kentucky, and owner of Baird & Wilson Sheet Metal of Knoxville.
He was preceded in death by parents, Lee and Ruby Baird.
Baird is survived by wife, Katherine Smith Baird; daughter Angela Baird
Wilson; son, Darrin Baird, all of LaFollette; two sisters, Linda Daily, of
LaFollette, Mary Barger, of Knoxville.
Funeral services were Monday, April 29, at Walters Chapel with Reverend Jim
Wilcox officiating.
Interment was in Baird Cemetery with employees of Baird & Wilson Sheet Metal
as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Campbell
County Shriner's Crippled Children Fund, c/o John T. Reynolds, at Peoples
National Bank, P.O. Box 1221, LaFollette, Tenn., 37766 or New Horizon Baptist
Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 270, LaFollette, Tenn., 37766.

ALEX LINCOLN BROWN, age 65, of Roselle, Ill., formerly of Jellico, died
Wednesday, April 17, at Alexian Brothers Medical Center, Elk Grove Village,
Ill.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Brown, daughter, Vira Brown and son, Frank
Brown, all of Roselle, Ill., and son Jeff Brown, of Elgin, Ill.; brothers,
Finley Brown, of Creal Springs, Ill., Lonnie Brown, of Anniston, Ala.; three
grandchildren.
Funeral services were Thursday, April 25, at the Llewellyn Funeral Home
Chapel in Jellico with Reverend Jerome Walden officiating.
Burial was Friday, April 26, in the Douglas Cemetery.
Llewellyn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

NANNIE MARY CARSON, age 69, of Caryville, died Tuesday, April 23, at her home.
She was of the Church of God faith.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Loney Jane Ipox; sister, Martha
Byrge; son, John L. Carson.
She is survived by husband Dee Carson of Caryville; son Timmy Carson, of
Caryville; daughters Melissa Huckaby of LaFollette and Hazel Wolf of
Caryville; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister Margie
Scarbrough of Lake City.
Funeral services were Thursday, April 25, at Cross Funeral Home with Reverend
Joby Byrge officiating.
Interment was Friday, April 26, at BeechFork Cemetery, Caryville.
Cross Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

JAMES N. "Jolly" COOPER, age 50, of 267 Country Side Circle, Jacksboro, died
Sunday, April 28, at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Austin Cooper and Iva Grace
Gray.
He is survived by wife Rosie Lee Cooper of Jacksboro; daughters Sharon Cooper
of Jacksboro and Patricia Simpson of Caryville; step-daughters Angela Nicklos
of Nashville, Shelia Dykes and Tammy Godsey, both of LaFollette; sisters Ann
Miller of White Oak and Susan Cooper of Athens, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren, one
great-grandson.
Funeral services were Tuesday, April 30, in the chapel of Martin Wilson
Funeral Home with Reverend Ivan Goodman and Reverend H.R. Douglas officiating.
Interment was Wednesday, May 1, in Bakers Forge Cemetery.

DAVE H. GROSS, age 86, of 118 Tionesta Drive, Jacksboro, died Thursday, April
25, at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County.
He was a member of Midway Baptist Church and served his country with honor.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Gross; daughter Geraldine
Crabtree; parents James H. and Callie Ragle Gross; sisters Ella Mae Simpson
and Mattie Peavley; brothers Walter and Clyde Gross.
He is survived by son Michael Gross of Clinton; seven grandchildren; a host
of great-grandchildren; brothers Everette and Charlie Gross, both of
LaFollette; sister Lula Marie Summers of LaFollette.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 27, in the Chapel of Martin Wilson
Funeral Home with Reverend Leonard Dabney and Brother Carl Bradshaw
officiating.
Interment was on Sunday in Woodlawn Cemetery, with full military honors by
the Campbell County Honor Guard.

WALTER TRACY HEATWOLE, age 82, of Jellico died April 17, at Beech Tree Manor
Nursing Home in Jellico.
Survivors include wife, Thelma Heatwole, Jellico; daughters, Helen Partin,
Cincinnati, Ohio, Patricia Mick, Mannington, West Virginia, Imogene Weaver,
Jellico; step-daughters, Brenda Brown, Mary Nan Douglas, Paula Creekmore all
of Jellico; sons, Tommy Heatwole, Williamsburg, Ky.; Glen and Tracy Heatwole,
Jellico; step-son, Sammy Brown, Jellico; 14 grandchildren and 12
great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren and 9 step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held 8 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at the Llewellyn
Funeral Home Chapel in Jellico with Rev. Jerome Walden officiating. Burial
was in the Douglas Cemetery at Crouches Creek 10 a.m. Sunday, April 21.
Llewellyn Funeral Home, Jellico was in charge.

JAMES C. JOHNSON, age 58, of Jellico, died Saturday, April 27, at Jellico
Community Hospital.
He was preceded in death by wife, Sharon Ross Johnson; son-in-law, William
Matthew Silcox.
He is survived by daughter Maudrie Silcox, of Williamsburg, Ky.; three
grandsons; mother Maudrie Johnson, of Corbin, Ky.; three brothers, Arville
Johnson of Corbin, Ky., Sherman Johnson of Toledo, Ohio, Jessie Johnson, of
Jellico.
Funeral services were Monday, April 29, at the Church of God, Mountain
Assembly, with Reverend Jerome Walden officiating.
Military services were conducted by the Campbell County Honor Guard.
Burial was Tuesday, April 30, in Huddleston Cemetery.
Harp Funeral Home of Jellico was in charge of arrangements.

TILDA MCKAMEY, age 92, of Jacksboro, formerly of Caryville, died on April 26
at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County.
She was a member of Ridge View Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by parents Abe and Susie McKamey; brothers Jessie
Link, Delis and Lonza McKamey; sisters Tennie, Minda, Alice, Senda and Taise.
She is survived by sister Fannie Rose of Caryville; niece (whom she raised)
Gracie Marlow, of Jacksboro and her children.
Funeral services were Sunday, April 28, at Cross Chapel, with Reverend LeRoy
Braden and Reverend Lee Phillips officiating.
Interment was Monday, April 29, at BeechFork Cemetery.
Cross Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

REBECCA LYNN MONK, age 44, of 166 Monk Lane, Jacksboro, the Bruce Gap
Community, died Friday, April 26, at her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Geneva Baker Perryman.
She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Woodrow Monk, Jr. and son,
Michael David Monk, of Jacksboro; daughter, April Mims, of LaFollette; one
grandson; brother, Billy Ray Perryman and sister, Deborah Schallfer, both of
Michigan.
Funeral services were Monday, April 29, at Martin Wilson Chapel with Reverend
Ray Graham officiating.
Interment followed in Baker's Forge Cemetery.

SHELIA RENEE POWELL, age 33, of Hill Street, Lake City, died Thursday, April
25, at U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville.
She is survived by fiance, Terry Lane, of Lake City; daughter, Robin Lawson
of Barboursville, Ky.; son Gregory Lawson; sisters Tina Grubb of LaFollette;
brother Billy John Powell of LaFollette; parents Billy and Shirley Powell of
LaFollette; grandparents Catherine Bowles and Lola Powell Hall, of
Williamsburg, Ky.
Funeral services were Sunday, April 28, at Roach Mortuary Chapel with the
Reverend Don Reynolds officiating.
Interment was in Bakers Forge Cemetery.

STELLA DEAN RUSSELL, age 96, of Caryville, died Tuesday, April 23 at St.
Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County.
She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by husband William A. Russell; son Charles H.
Parker; parents, Barney and Louisa Jane (Waggoner) Parker.
She is survived by son William A. Russell Jr. of Jacksboro; daughters Betty
Jane Russell of Caryville and Judith Elaine Miller of LaFollette; four
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, April 26, at Cross Funeral Home with Reverend
Charles Noss officiating.
Interment was Saturday, April 27, at Jacksboro Cemetery.
Cross Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

JACQUELINE SUTTLES, age 72, of Belleville, Mich., died Tuesday, April 23, at
Arbor Hospice in Ann Arbor, Mich.
She is survived by two sons, Donnie Lee Suttles of South Line, Mich., and Ira
DeWayne Suttles, of Bellville, Mich.; one daughter, Norma Jean Lorenz, of
Bellville, Mich.; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; mother,
Bertha Jones, of Williamsburg, Ky.
Eastern Star services were conducted by the Jellico OES Chapter #215 on
Saturday, April 27.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 27, at Harp Funeral Home Chapel with
Reverend Billy Jones officiating.
Burial was in the Jones Family Cemetery.
Harp Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

ARLIE TACKETT, age 68, of Jacksboro, died on Thursday, April 25, at St.
Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County.
He was a member of the Coolidge Ridge Baptist Church and a retired coal miner.
He was preceded in death by parents Robert and Millie Jane (Marlow) Tackett;
brothers Henry and Luther Tackett; sisters Mary Wallace and Verdie Tackett.
He is survived by wife Blanche Tackett of Jacksboro; sons Jerry Tackett and
Robert Tackett, both of Jacksboro; daughters Mary Ann McKamey and Sandy
Housley, both of Jacksboro, Magdalene Bacon, of Houston, Tex., and Regina
Luallen, of Lake City; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; brother
Audren Tackett of LaFollette; sister, Ann Ward, of Dayton, Tenn.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 27, at Cross Funeral Home with Reverend
Lee Phillips and Reverend Kenneth Cox officiating.
Interment was Sunday, April 28, in BeechFork Cemetery, Caryville.
Cross Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

SARAH GALLAGHER WILLIAMS, age 82, of Harriman, Tenn., died Tuesday, April 23,
at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center of Knoxville.
She was born Sept. 21, 1920, in LaFollette.
She was a member of the West Hills Presbyterian Church and a graduate of
Stratford College and the University of Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by husband Maurice K. Williams; parents George
Browder and Grace Martin Gallagher.
He is survived by daughter Sarah Elizabeth Looney, of Austin, Texas; sons
Browder G. Williams of Kingston and Maurice K. Williams Jr. of Morristown;
brother, William T. Gallagher, of Green Valley, Ariz., and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, April 26, at West Hills Presbyterian Church
with Reverend Jeff Jenkins officiating.
Interment followed in Woodlawn Cemetery, LaFollette.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Hills Presbyterian Church
or to the Maurice K. Williams Scholarship Fund at Roane State Community
College.

WILLIAM N. "Bill" HOPE, age 71, of 189 Butter and Egg Rd., Jacksboro passed
away Monday, April 29, 2002 at the U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville. He was a
member of Jacksboro First Baptist Church. Mr. Hope was a loving Husband,
father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his
Family and Friends. He also enjoyed working on computers for himself and
Friends.
Preceded in death by parents: Jordan and Georgia Ivy Hope, brothers: Jim,
Robert, and John Hope, sister: Elizabeth Ridenour.
Survived by wife: Evelyn Hope of Jacksboro. Sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne
and Brenda Hope of Kingston, Billy and Brenda Hope of LaFollette, Brent and
Angela Hope of Jacksboro, son, Mark Hope of Jacksboro, 7 grandchildren, 4
great grandchildren, brother: Pete Hope of Aiken, SC, sister: Frankie Cox of
Morristown, special nephew: Roger Hope of Lake City, special friends: Jimmy
Elkins of Jacksboro, Jim Dial of Jacksboro, Jim Sammons of LaFollette, E.L.
Wilson of Jacksboro and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 11 am Wednesday, May 1, 2002 in Martin Wilson Chapel
with Rev. George Asbury and Dr. Charles Parker officiating. Interment will
follow in Jacksboro Cemetery with full military honors by the Campbell County
Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday night,
April 30, 2002.
