LINDY KAY Kay (Katie) ASHER, 52, of Jellico, died on Saturday, Dec. 29 at
Jellico Community Hospital.
She was preceded in death by son Michael Silcox and father Howard Asher;
grandparents Archie and Mary Alice Ellis and Willie and Ernie Asher.
She is survived by mother Lucille Asher of Jellico; brother Howard Ray (Hard
Rock) Asher of Jellico; sister Paula Harris of Lenoir City.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 2 at Harp Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
Bill Branam officiating. Burial was in the Douglas Cemetery.

THELMA A. AYERS, 78, of Jacksboro, died on Friday, Jan. 4 at the Fort Sanders
Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. She was the of Holiness Faith.
She was preceded in death by parents Michael and Ada Ayers; sister Mossie
Johnson and a brother.
She is survived by two twin brothers Delmus Howard of Knoxville.
Funeral services were Sunday, Jan. at the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral
Home with Rev. Pat Ayers officiating. Interment was in the Davis Cemetery.

GEVENA S. BAIRD, 62, of Jellico, Tuesday, Dec. 25 at Beech Tree Manor in
Jellico.
She was preceded in death by parents Harvey and Clorsie Siler; sisters
Jeanette, Rozella, and Geraldine; brothers Raymond and Buddy Ray.
She is survived by four brothers Rev. Damon Siler of LaFollette, Harley Siler
of Jellico, Carlos Siler of Jellico and Laymund Siler of Lake City; sisters
Ellen Louise Zaremski of Lake City, Marcella Williams of Virginia Beach,
Virginia and Jenina Hitchcock of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 29 at Harp Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
Harry James officiating. Interment was in the Bolton Cemetery.

JERRY S BOTTS, 54, of Louisville, formerly of Elk Valley, died on Tuesday, at
Norton Hospital. He was in the U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran, the vice president
and racing secretary of Churchill Downs, a member of the DuPont Manual
Alumni, Lick Fork Baptist Church, Elk Valley and a Kentucky Colonel.
She is survived by mother Elma B. Botts; two sisters Earlene B. Taylor, Ellie
Lobb; brother Rick Botts.
Funeral services were Saturday at O.D. White and Sons Funeral Home, 2727 S.
Third St Interment was in the Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Memorial
gifts, Hospice of Louisville, the Alzheimer's Association or the Kentucky
Horsemen's Benevolent Fund.

ADDIE F. COOPER, 93, of Jacksboro, died on Monday, Dec. 31 at the St. Mary's
of Campbell County. She was a member of Cherry Bottom Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Cooper; parents and a son,
Harold Ferguson.
She is survived by son Ralph Ferguson of Jacksboro; grandchildren Mary Sue
Derrick of Clinton, Betty Jean Stout of LaFollette, Carl D. Ferguson of
Jacksboro, James E. Ferguson of Norris, Robert R. Ferguson of Jacksboro; 8
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Jan. 2 at Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph
Cordell officiating. Interment was in the Cumberland View Cemetery.

BILLY WAYNE DILBECK, 57, of Eton, Georgia, formerly of White Oak, died on
Friday, Dec. 28 at Murray Medical Center in Chatsworth, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by sister Lorene Ledford; brother Stanley Dilbeck.
He is survived by stepsisters Marie Bolton of Jacksboro, Roberta Daugherty of
LaFollette, Charlene Evans of LaFollette; stepbrother Mack Dilbeck of Vasper.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 1 at Harp Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
Jimbo Bolton officiating. Interment was in the Bolton-Campbell County.

AARON DOUGLAS, 83, of Jellico, died on Saturday, Dec. 29 at Methodist Medical
Center of Oak Ridge. He was a long time member of the Crouches Creek Baptist
Church and a member and past master of Jellico Lodge #527 F&AM.
He is survived by wife Lucille Elliott Douglas of Jellico; daughter Dessie
Johnson of Jellico; sons Jack Davis, Marvin Douglas, all of Jellico and Jerry
Douglas of Columbus, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 31 at the Crouches Creek Baptist Church
with Rev. Ellis Hoskins officiating. Interment was in the Huddleston Cemetery.

WILLIAM ELLISON, 78, formerly of LaFollette, died on Jan. 4. He was a member
of Church Street United Methodist Church and was a 50 year member of Valley
Star Lodge #577 in Speedwell. He was a member of Knoxville Scottish Rite,
32nd Degree. He served as a medic in Liverpool, England during WW II and
attained to rank of Sergeant. He worked for many years all over the Midwest
for the Ralston Purina Company. When he retired from that company he went
into commercial real state and worked for Volunteer Realty in Knoxville in
the East Tennessee area. He owned his own business, Southeast Sunbelt
Business Brokerage Company.
He was preceded in death by parents Bonnie James Ellison and Charles Dewey
Ellison Sr. of Speedwell and brother Charles Dewey Ellison Jr. of Clarksburg,
West Va.
He is survived by wife Marjorie Pierce Ellison; son Jeff Ellison of Speedwell
and daughter Holly Ellison of Knoxville; two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Ellison Cemetery, 295
Ellison Lane, Speedwell. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that
donations be made to the WellSprings United Methodist Church, 168 Well Road,
LaFollette, Tenn., 37766 in memory of William H. Ellison. Masonic services
were held Tuesday, Jan. 7 at Walters Funeral Home, conducted by Valley Star
Lodge #577 F&AM.

DELLA PERKINS GAYLOR, 83, of LaFollette, died on Wednesday, Jan. 2 at Baptist
Hospital of East Tennessee. She was a member of Indiana Avenue Baptist Church
and Davis Chapel Community Association.
She was preceded in death by husband, Howard Gaylor and parents Walter and
Mayme Perkins; sisters Gladys P. Swafford and Lena McKinney; brothers Charles
E. Perkins and James Perkins.
She is survived by sisters Alta Perkins of Jacksboro and Joyce Hutson;
brother Rev. Walter Perkins Jr. of Monroe, Michigan.
Funeral services were Friday at Walters Chapel with Dr. Billy Edmonds and
Rev. David Shepherd officiating. Interment was in the Sunrise Cemetery with
Rev. Billy Hutson officiating.

SERENA CROSWELL GREER, 63, of Jacksboro, formerly of Somerville, died on
Thursday, Jan. 3 at St. Mary's Medical Center in LaFollette. She was a voice
teacher in Somerville for a number of years. She was a former member of the
Somerville First Presbyterian Church and a member of First Presbyterian
Church of LaFollette. A former member of the Craddock Book Club in
Somberville and had served in past years as president and treasurer of the
club.
She was preceded in death by parents John Louis Crosswell and Mary Frances
Martin Crosswell.
She is survived by husband Jonie L. Greer; daughters Mary Greer Scott of
Louisville, Jane Greer Scarbrough of Mason, Tenn. sons Jonie Thomas Greer,
III of Fort Wayne, Indiana, David Lee Greer of Spring Hill and 8
grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 5 at the Somerville First Presbyterian
Church with Dr. John Lodge, Pastor of the Church officiating. Interment was
in the Somerville City Cemetery.

JACK GRIFFITH, 69, of LaFollette, died Jan. 2 at home. He was a member of
Gospel Music Association. He was a member of the local Christian community as
an untiring gospel singer.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jasper and Christine Griffith;
sisters Pat Bolton and Essie Roache.
He is survived by his wife Otella Griffith of LaFollette; sons Darrell
Griffith, David Griffith, Mike Griffith, Brian Griffith and Eric Griffith;
daughters Gail Hatmaker, Kim Ferguson, Lisa Griffith, Sandra McDaniel and
Andrea Clawson; sisters Billie Sue Marlow of White Oak; brother Robert
Griffith of LaFollette.
Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 4 at the House of Prayer and Praise on
Pleasant Ridge Road with Rev. Mike Franklin, Rev. Charles Lovely and Rev.
Lloyd Graves officiating. Interment was in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

LIZZIE GRACE HEMBREE, 88, of LaFollette, died on Sunday, Jan. 6 at St. Mary's
Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a member of Baptist Faith.
She was preceded in death by husband Cecil Leon Hembree; parents James Isaac
and Ella Day; brother William Sherman Day; sister Opal Mae Day.
She is survived by son Earl Leon Hembree of Loraine, Ohio and Dennie Glen
Hembree of Columbus, Ohio; brothers James Lee Day of Morristown, Bobbie Gene
Day of LaFollette; sisters Linda Jane Butcher, Mary Aileen Sweat, both of
LaFollette.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 8 at Cross Chapel with Rev. Carl Edwards
officiating. Interment was in the Campbell Memorial Gardens.

JOANNA HUGHES, 73, of Jacksboro, died on Sunday, Jan. 6 at St. Mary's Medical
Center of Campbell County. She was a member of the LaFollette United
Methodist Church. She served as a Director of First Bank, Secretary-Treasurer
of LaFollette, Hardware and Lumber Company and also was a member of
LaFollette Arts Council.
She was preceded in death by father Wheeler Holloingworth.
She is survived by husband John N. (Jack) Hughes of Jacksboro and mother
Gladys Sanders Hollingworth of Jacksboro.
Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 7 at Cross Chapel with Rev. Malcolm
Wansley officiating. Interment was in the Campbell Memorial Gardens.

WILLIAM ROBERT HYDER, 67, of Caryville, died on Sunday, Jan. 6 at his home.
He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ann Lovely Hyder.
He is survived by daughter Kimberly Hyder-Winfrey; son Anthony Lee Hyder;
four grandchildren.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 9 at the Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev.
Bill Waddell officiating.

IRENE IVEY, 75, of LaFollette, died on Monday, Jan. 7 at St. Mary's Medical
Center of Campbell County. She was a youth group religious service at
Rensselaer Care Center. She taught Sunday school for 11 years she worked with
Missionettes and she was a member of Middlesboro Highway Church of God.
She was preceded in death by parents John and Tinnie Florence Hembree.
She is survived by husband John Ivey of LaFollette; daughter Wanda Kirk of
San Antonio, Texas; brother Johnny Hembree of Andersonville; sisters Pauline
Hardin of Gosse Creek, S.C. and Beulah Wilson of LaFollette.
Funeral services were Thursday, Jan. 10 at Cross Funeral Home with Rev. Paul
Hembree and Melvin and Judy Lane officiating. Interment was in the Sunrise
Cemetery.

GERTIE LAMB, 61, of Newcomb, died on Saturday, Jan. 5 at Jellico Community
Hospital.
She is survived by son William J. Champlain of Parkhill, Ok; daughters Rene
Chadwell of Jellico and Janice Head of Newella, Ok; brother Dorlan Lamb of
Jellico; sister Elsie Mae Rouse of Williamsburg, Ky.; six grandchildren.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 7 at the Harp Funeral Home Chapel with
Rev. Denny Wayne Davis officiating. Interment was in the Lamb Mountain
Cemetery.

JUDY LONG, 54, of Briceville, Tenn., died on Monday, Dec. 31 at her home. She
was a member of Laurel Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Long; father Jonas Phillips.
She is survived by son Chris Long of Briceville; mother Annie B. Phillips of
Briceville; sister Geneva Dugger of Briceville; brother Jerry Phillips of
Briceville; one granddaughter.
Funeral services were Thursday, Jan. 3 at the Laural Grove Baptist Church in
Briceville with Rev. David White and Audrey Goins officiating. In lieu of

Box 88, Lake City. Interment was in the Laurel Grove Church Cemetery in
Briceville.

GERALDINE (Jerry) PETERS, 75, of LaFollette, died on Friday, Jan. 4. She was
a member of High Knob Baptist Church and was an employee at Wal-Mart for 10
years as an Association and was a former owner of White Way Cleaners.
She was preceded in death by parents Ruth and William Orick; sister Imogene
Baker; brothers Jay, Charlie, Lloyd, Eugene and the Rev. Ernest Orick;
husband Ike Peters and four infant sons.
She is survived by her daughter Marilyn Sebby of Powell; sister Mildred
Richardson of LaFollette; brother Everette Glen Orick of Knoxville; two
granddaughters.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 5 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral
Home with Rev. Paul Hembree and Rev. Leonard Dabney officiating. Interment
was in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

GRACE ELIZABETH REYNOLDS, 94, of LaFollette, died on Monday, Jan. 7 at
LaFollette Nursing Home. She was a member of Grantsboro Baptist Church and a
retired school teacher.
She was preceded in death by husband Matt Reynolds.
She is survived by son Lon Edward Reynolds of Sevierville; step-sons Charles
Reynolds of Knoxville and John and James Reynolds, of LaFollette; daughter
Rub Fay Reynolds, of Knoxville; step-daughters Freda Meredith of LaFollette,
Pauline Green of Pioneer and Ann Mae Woods of Detroit, Mich.; brother Charles
Robbins of Lenoir City.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 9 at Cross Chapel with Rev. Pat Ayers
officiating. Interment was in the Cumberlandview Cemetery.

JAMES LEOLA RIGGS, 81, of LaFollette, died on Saturday, Jan. 5 at his home.
He was a member of Mt. Paron Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by parents Francis and Mattie East Riggs; brother
Tommy Riggs.
He is survived by wife Mildred Riggs of LaFollette.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 9 in Williams Cemetery with Rev. Terry
Wells and Rev. Eugene Wells officiating.

BETTY LOW WOODS, 65, of Benton, IL, formerly from LaFollette, died on
Wednesday, Jan. 2 in DuQoin, IL. She was a member of Baptist Faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband Junior Lee Woods; parents Conley and
Hallie Butler Bailey; brothers Curley Dan Bailey and Bobby Gene Bailey.
She is survived by brother Mitchell; brother Lee Bailey, all of LaFollette;
sister Martha of Jacksboro; sister Margie Bailey LaFollette.
Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 4 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral
Home with Rev. Dewey Wilson Jr. officiating. Interment was in the Bailey
Cemetery in Speedwell.
