Faye Hill Thompson, 68, of Lake City, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at
Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by her daughter, Brenda Craig of West Melton,
Ohio; two brothers, Mac Hill and his wife, Janie, of Lake City and Donald
Hill and his wife, Denise, of North Carolina; and two grandchildren.
The funeral was held Sunday night, Dec. 16, in the chapel of Cox-Martin
Funeral Home in Lake City. The Rev. Tom Byrge officiated.
A graveside service was to be conducted at 10 this morning, Dec. 17, at
Leach Cemetery in Lake City.
Frank "Skinner' George Love, 81, of Clinton, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at
the Veterans Administration Hospital in Nashville.
Born Dec. 26, 1919, in Etowah, he was the son of Jim and Solome Couch Love.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Love was retired as a district manager with the former Knoxville
Journal, and he was also retired from Sexton Automotive in Harriman.
He is survived by his wife, Eula Webber; two sons, Bill Love and his wife,
Patricia, of Marietta, Ga., and Bob Love and his wife, Lorie, of
Greeneville; two stepchildren, Tim Taylor of Knoxville and Joyce Ann
Browning and her husband, Tom, of Clinton; his half-sister, Irene Love of
Muscle Shoals, Ala.; and 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Love was preceded in death by his brother,
Robert Love; another half-sister, Nova Welch, and a half-brother, A.C. Love.
The funeral was held Sunday night, Dec. 16, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble
Funeral Home in Clinton. The Rev. Ralph Nance officiated.
A graveside service was to be conducted at 2 this afternoon, Dec. 17, at
Sunset Cemetery in Clinton.
Wanda Lee West, 57, of Clinton, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at her home.
Mrs. West is survived by her children, Hubert Green and his wife, Julia, and
Angela Green and her fiancé, Ed Foust, all of Clinton, and Eric Green and
Nancy Myers, both of Oneida; her mother, Evelyn West of Clinton; her sister,
Opal West of Clinton; four brothers, Noble West, James West, Archie West and
his wife, Barbara, and Paul West and his wife, Rhonda, all of Clinton; and
seven grandchildren.
David Bailey was her fiancé.
The funeral was to be held at 1 this afternoon, Dec. 17, in the chapel of
Anderson County Funeral Home in Clinton.
Burial was to follow at Byrge Cemetery.
Milo Chester Crumpley Sr., 86, a lifelong resident of Clinton, died
Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at Fort Sanders Parkwest Medical Center in
Knoxville after a short illness.
Born June 13, 1915, in Anderson County, he was the son of Steven and Frankie
Long Crumpley, and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Crumpley worked for 35 years at Magnet Hosiery Mills in Clinton as a
fixer and then worked until his retirement as a machinist with Mead Corp. in
Atlanta, Ga.
He attended Mount Olive Baptist Church in South Clinton.
Mr. Crumpley is survived by his wife, Helen Alley Crumpley; his daughter,
Violet Chabot and her husband, Edward, of Claxton; his son, Milo C. Crumpley
Jr. of Claxton; two grandchildren, Shawn Hatmaker and Heather Hatmaker, both
of Knoxville; two step-granddaughters, Angela Marie Chabot of Lenoir City
and Karen R. Mayo of Knoxville; and two step-great-grandchildren, Nathan
Mayo and Laura Mayo.
He is also survived by his sister, Vera Bunch of Clinton; his brother,
Clarence Crumpley and his wife, Eula, of Clinton; and several nieces and
nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Crumpley was preceded in death by his first
wife, Hazel Crumpley.
The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, Dec. 14, in the chapel of
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Ronnie Owens and the
Rev. Clayton Duncan officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at noon Saturday, Dec. 15, at Oak
Ridge Memorial Park.
Betty Sue Galloway, 69, of Clinton, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at Baptist
Hospital in Knoxville.
Mrs. Galloway was the daughter of Jesse and Bonnie Foust Pack, who are
deceased.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Campbell and her husband, James;
seven sisters, Marie Franse, Mary Hayes and Inez Shoopman, all of Knoxville,
Judy Gibson of Arizona, June Allen and Shirley Slover and her husband, Neil,
all of Florida, and Louise Armstrong of Washington; and three brothers,
David Pack and his wife, Joy, of Arkansas, Carl Pack and his wife, Pat, of
Alabama, and Al Pack and his wife, Joyce, of Knoxville.
Mrs. Galloway is also survived by six grandchildren, James B. Campbell, with
the United States Navy, and his wife, Donna, Capricia Galloway of Oak Ridge,
Candice Lashelle of Baton Rouge, La., Frank Campbell and his wife, Allison,
Inga Shepherd and her husband, Dennis, and Felicia N. Campbell; and seven
great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jerry
Galloway; a sister, Barbara Pack; and two brothers, L.D. Pack and Louis
Pack.
The body was cremated and no service was held.
Robert Lee Phillips, 66, of Clinton, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at St.
Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville.
Born May 21, 1935, in Anderson County, he was the son of Grance and Elzie
Lowe Phillips, who are deceased.
Mr. Phillips had been a truck driver for Neeley Trucking Co. in Knoxville
for approximately 41 years.
Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife of five and a half years, Dora L.
Phillips; three daughters, Monica Alley and Becky Bailey and her husband,
Bill, all of Clinton, and Leigh Ann Baird and her husband, Derrick, of
Knoxville; three stepdaughters, Susan Mounts of Summerville, S.C., Lana
Nealy and her husband, George, of Ladson, S.C., and Sherri Ballinger of
Maryville; and six grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
He is also survived by three sisters, Wanda Patterson of Clinton, Zelma
Blankenship of Oliver Springs and Christine Teague of Asheville, N.C.; two
brothers, Chester Phillips and his wife, Edna, of Clinton, and Otis Ray
Phillips and his wife, Glenna, of Brandon, Fla.; and several nieces and
nephews.
The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, in the chapel of
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Don Daugherty
officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at Sunset
Cemetery in Clinton.
Dana Cecil Woodby, 56, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at his
home.
Mr. Woodby was a self-employed master plumber.
He was born June 6, 1945, in Elizabethton, and he was a U.S. Air Force
veteran.
Mr. Woodby was a member of Solway Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Woodby; six children, Melissa Myers,
Terisa Simerly, Timmy Woodby, Michael Woodby, Jill Howell and Matthew
Jackson; his father, Hacker Woodby; his brother, Johnny Woodby; three
nephews, Johnny Woodby Jr., Mark Woodby and David Woodby; and his
grandchildren, Ashley Jones, Andrew Jones, T.J. Horton, Elizabeth Horton,
Danyell Woodby and Jacob Howell.
Mr. Woodby was preceded in death by his mother, Rena Woodby, and another
brother, Kenneth Woodby.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, in the chapel of
Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Buchanan officiating.
Kenneth Daniel Harness, 52, of Oliver Springs, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001.
Born Feb. 16, 1949, he was the son of John R. and Dellah Harness, who are
deceased.
He was a member of Laurel Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Harness is survived by his daughter, Tammy Smithers and her husband,
Tony; his granddaughter, Kimberly Marie Smithers; five brothers, Randy
Harness and his wife, Nancy, Matthew Harness and his wife, Mae, and
MacArthur Harness and his wife, Lou, all of Oliver Springs, Neils Harness
and his wife, Cletia, of Wartburg, and W.C. Harness and his wife, Janie, of
Briceville; and three sisters-in-law, Wanda Harness, Emma Hutson and Faye
Harness and her husband, Ruley.
He is also survived by his nieces, Delia, Jerry, Jeanie, Gwen, Tina and
Judy; and his nephews, Dobie, Jason, Joe, Donald, Eddie, Goman, Randy Lee,
Roy, Norris, Phillip, Johnathon, Darrel, Michael, Marshall, James, Buster,
J.C. Jr. and Bobby.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Harness was preceded in death by his wife,
Connie Phillips Harness; his sister, Jerry Mullins; two brothers, Edwin
Harness and David Harness; and a sister-in-law, Lola Gordon.
The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, Dec. 13, at Laurel Grove Missionary
Baptist Church in the Laurel Grove community. The Rev. David White will
officiate. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14,
at Brown Cemetery in Briceville.
